MRI was also good, so I move on for another 3 months before my next CT Scan. The radiology oncologist admitted to me that at this point I'm serving as a benchmark for future patients. That these new treatments are pushing patients into uncharted territory and that his staff will be monitoring me closely to help them understand how to treat future patients.

Cap Ologist 01-21-2020 11:31 AM

Great news!

JonInMiddleGA 01-21-2020 12:33 PM

Woot

Kodos 01-21-2020 01:55 PM

Good to hear!

Breeze 05-05-2020 07:45 AM

My latest scan, other than being a pain to coordinate with the Covid situation and dealing with the usual pain in the ass insurance issues, was uneventful. My meeting with the doctor was over the phone, so no blood tests, but the scans showed no change. And we start another 3 month cycle...

PilotMan 05-05-2020 10:10 AM

SWEET UPDATE!

Kodos 05-06-2020 02:18 PM

:)

JonInMiddleGA 05-07-2020 12:11 PM

Solid.

The most recent rounds of scans are now complete. I got the MRI last week and the CT yesterday. It was a little odd with Covid measures in place, but no big deal. I will get my first results on Friday, and the other on Tuesday.

I have all my reports back. The MRI report is down to less than a page in length, and it states there have been no changes. The Dr was extremely pleased and we're scheduled to do it again in 6 months.

The CT was also good, the Dr stated the lungs looked normal so does the liver and lymph nodes. Said to keep up the good work, and we'll schedule the next scan for October.

So, I'm good for another 3 months...

JAG 07-14-2020 09:31 AM

Outstanding news, very happy to hear it.

JonInMiddleGA 07-14-2020 03:59 PM

Fuck yeah, you go boy

chesapeake 07-15-2020 09:07 AM

Good news!

PilotMan 07-15-2020 09:14 AM

That is incredible news man.

Kodos 07-16-2020 02:50 PM

Awesome!

Breeze 07-17-2020 08:12 AM

As always guys, thanks for the support. It is greatly appreciated.

CraigSca 08-22-2020 01:51 PM

Sorry for my lateness, but fantastic news :)

3 months is up, scan day again today. Just the CT this time around, but unfortunately, I have to go all the way down to the main campus at Emory. That's about an hour each way, without traffic (which shouldn't be terrible), whereas I usually go to a local facility which is less than 15 minutes away.

The worst part about the CT is - I'm allergic to the contrast they use, so I have to take a bunch of steroids and Benadryl before and I feel like crap for days.

Breeze 10-13-2020 01:59 PM

October 13, 2020

The reports for both my chest and abdomen state "No metastatic disease" so I'm good for another 3 months...which gets me through the holidays.

Breeze 10-13-2020 02:05 PM

On my way to get scanned on Friday (9th), when I pulled into the hospital, there was a big group gathered in front of the children's wing. I turned to see what was going on and there was a boy, couldn't have been more than 8 ringing his cancer free bell...it was a pretty awesome sight....

Kodos 10-13-2020 02:46 PM

Great news in both instances!

JAG 10-13-2020 03:23 PM

Fantastic news, glad to hear it puts you past the holidays too.

I only just saw this and, holy crap, my wife just dealt with that. Sounds like the same cocktail to counter the allergy they gave her (for the first time) and sonofabitch, it worked (to my surprise if I'm being honest). Her previous scan some months back where the allergy was discovered scared the crap outta her & Will both, as he had done the driving that day and she reacted while they were eating dinner afterwards. Definitely not prepared for the severe ... shaking? tremors? whatever the right word. It's a nasty allergy to have for sure.

Stoked about your good report, that's the stuff I love to hear.

PilotMan 10-21-2020 08:19 PM

Really happy to hear your good reports Breeze. Great news!

britrock88 10-22-2020 08:40 AM

Got trashed by the undefeated rookie league leader who posted a 10(4) yesterday.

Sitting third going into day 9 at 5-3-0 despite my 17/40 hit rate being tied for fifth in the league. Assured of a finish between second and fourth depending on results today, and placement in a B, C, or D league depending on results tomorrow. Suppose I'm playing good defense (yesterday aside) or just getting lucky matchups.

Korme, at 4-2-2 and 18/40 hit rate, is in the same spot in his D league, with the same potential season outcomes.

Another round of scans goes well! No changes to report, so reset the clock for 3 more months. The only item that was different was the insurance company balked at the scan of not only the pelvis but the abdomen. We are used to the pelvis being blocked, but the abdomen caught us off guard, and the Dr was out of the office so he couldn't do the peer to peer talk. So just got the chest scanned this time around.

PilotMan 01-22-2021 06:27 PM

I can't believe that I missed this last week. Nothing is taken for granted, and another three months to go ahead is great news man. Really good to hear.

And while I read this when posted, I didn't comment at the time but I wanted to specifically thank you for sharing details like this.

Because you have, my household is better prepared for what we're going to inevitably bump into. I've literally talked about the approved/not approved/then approved shuffle with my wife twice in the past week, between your stories and a couple of other people with similar, we'll still be frustrated I'm sure but we won't feel blindsided when it happens either.

And that helps.

Kodos 01-23-2021 07:50 AM

Glad to reset for another 3 months. Keep bringing us good news!

I go in tomorrow to get the results from my latest scan. I'm much more concerned for this one than I've been in quite a while. Basically, the concerns started way back in January when the wife was exposed to Covid, so I moved in with my brother. In an effort to try and bolster my immune system, I did like so many others - I started taking vitamins and drinking orange juice.

After drinking oj for 8 to 10 days, often times multiple times a day, I got concerned. One of the things I have to stay away from is blood oranges because like grapefruit they impact the effectiveness of my medications. I felt like I was probably ok, because oj is typically made from valencia oranges, but when I looked it up - sure enough - blood oranges were listed in the ingredients.

Follow that with some significant discomfort in my lower left rib cage, and my anxiety is pretty high. I have had the twinges in the rib cage before, but it's been much more common and more pronounced. I'm hoping it is just scar tissue building or tearing that I'm feeling. Regardless, I'm saying my prayers heading into the visit tomorrow.

Kodos 04-05-2021 12:02 PM

Good luck tomorrow, Breeze. I will pray for a good result tonight.

hoopsguy 04-05-2021 10:32 PM

Been awhile since I've been on this site, but thrilled to see updates over the past year. Good luck with the tests tomorrow, Breeze!

In barely semi-related news, my extended family has shared rave reviews about their care at Emory compared to other facilities in the area. Some COVID, some non-COVID care, but across the board they have seen better outcomes at Emory than other facilities.

larrymcg421 04-05-2021 10:48 PM

Good luck!

Scans and blood work continue to be good. The PA was concerned about the pain around the bottom rib, but she poked, prodded, and listened and seems satisfied that everything was ok. The scan showed nothing obviously, so she thinks either the plural lining of the lung is irritated or the bundle of nerves that runs under that rib could be as well. My guess at this point is the scar tissue at the lower part of the lung is rubbing against the nerves or the rib cage and that's the problem. The PA was going to have the doctor take a closer look when he returns from Spring Break with his family.

Kodos 04-06-2021 02:33 PM

Sounds good so far!

JonInMiddleGA 04-06-2021 10:17 PM

That's what I'm talking 'bout.

Outfuckingstanding.

PilotMan 04-19-2021 06:46 PM

So good to hear that things continue to be great for you Breeze.

The next round of scans start today with my MRI, and finish with my CT on Wednesday (7/8). I have my MRI follow up tomorrow and my CT follow up on the 13th. Some of my concerns from my last CT scans are still in place for my MRI, because this is my first brain check since I mistakenly drank orange juice for a week. Will let you know what I find out.

Kodos 07-06-2021 03:12 PM

I hope you get good results.

PilotMan 07-13-2021 09:47 AM

Agreed. Let's go!

Just got back from my follow up visit, and I was told that all my scans (CT and MRI) and blood work look fantastic! I was told to keep "trucking" (PAs words not mine) with the same treatment.

JonInMiddleGA 07-13-2021 12:48 PM

Most very excellent news.

Kodos 07-13-2021 01:32 PM

Sounds great!

Most recent CT scan continues to show no areas of concern, so I restart my clock and I get to relax through the holiday season.
