LaRoche was dumped out of Atlanta in the first place because he was an inconsistent head case (yeah, I know, it's a mental health issue but still). And he's got a virtually identical OPS to Kotchman who at least tries hard, whereas LaRoche is capable of making Greg Norton look like a hitter & Garret Anderson look energetic.

This absolutely f'nlutely settles the issue of whether Wren is overmatched in his job or not. This is an Isiah Thomas worthy deal and it'll be the death knell for the Braves flickering wildcard hopes. Ok he is signed through 2012 with an option for 2013. that makes me feel a little better, I wasn't sure on that.

And if LaRoche manages to wildly exceed expectations in the next two months he's a free agent at the end of the year. Kotchman, while not particularly good, had 2.5 years left before free agency. Freedie Freeman better be ready soon. I don't understand this trade either.
