Maybe he was trying to elicit a response that makes sense? If he has a point, he has a point, regardless if it's irritating. I have no idea if there was any back and forth before the boxing, between him and the mod, but, if he was boxed right away, with no response from whoever boxed him, well, that is just plain lazy. If a mod doesn't want to deal with that kind of stuff, then don't be a mod. Pretty simple.

The bigger tragedy here is that he was banned originally for 2 days then Ben comes along and makes it 3 months because you know, Ben hasn't been able to flex in a while.

IMO there needs to be no gray area with this thread. Either allow pictures of women or don't, there should be no in between because that is how people get boxed ( granted, MG deserved it, but not 90 days).

I say if you are going to delete certain pics delete either all of them or delete the whole thread.

3 months is way excessive. I've seen people spout of way worse crap and it is seen as being cute.

Granted though, there is no consistency in what is removed for female pictures and the only thing that is consistent is that it is inconsistent. Because of that, pretty easy to not post a female picture just to see if it hangs around or not. If you post one and it is removed, eh.. move along. If you post one and it stays, I guess the cop wasn't behind the billboard that time so, continue speeding on.

GrantDawg is awesome. I could post 2+2=4 and if someone deleted it for some reason and I reposted it and went on a post reporting spree I wouldn't be surprised if I was banned permanently, regardless of whether or not the original deletion was right/wrong/stupid/absurd.

It's not the consistency of the mods that bothers me anymore, it just comes down to a simple equation.

What is better for the board:

1. The presence and posting of Macro

OR

2. The absence a of a sexy spiderman pic (or whatever it was), and the absence of Macro having some kind of pissing match with the mods.

I mean, #1 is better for everyone, except for skydog and wademoore, I guess. Nobody else gives a shit about #2. But because a couple of mods have hurt feelings, we lose out on #1 and gain nothing.

I have to say that I enjoy this thread a lot and every once in a while a hot chick picture will make my day. With that said I don't get why you guys think that posting hot chick pictures today is a good idea and I am sure there will be faux outrage when more people get banned. He wasn't suspended for posting the original picture. The picture was removed. Deal with it and move on, and nothing happens. Here's how I put it in the mod forum.To re-state it, the appropriateness of the image has nothing to do with the length of the suspension. The length of the suspension is 100% about the "f___ you, you can't tell me what to do" that he tried to give to Quik by re-posting the image. (But to be 100% clear here, I've seen the image in question now. If I had seen it before Quik, I would have deleted it, too.)

I'd already posted and handed out the suspension when I read the childish post reports in the mod forum. As I said to several people today, if I'd read those before I made the decision, it would have been six months instead of three.

And here's an idea: if you care so much about whether your image gets removed from a silly message board or if you get suspended from said silly board, then don't post anything remotely risque. Is that difficult? If the line is unclear to you, then the intelligent and rational thing to do is to stay far away from it. Newsflash: there are eleventy billion places you can go to see inappropriate hawt chix pix on the internet. This isn't one of them. It never has been and it never will be.

I've refused to get into trying to draw specific written lines and boundaries about what is and isn't appropriate with regard to images for over seven years now. It should be clear by now that I'm not going to change that position. The reason is the same as it has always been: the second I try to write specific language, some people will try to do everything they can to get as close as possible to the line without violating whatever specifics are there.

By the way, the analogy about the cop behind the billboard is perfect when it comes to "inconsistency" and "double standards." The mods have jobs, wives, families, etc. None of them reads every thread or post here. Sometimes people just get away with something because no one saw them do it quickly enough. The string of "OMG YOU DIDN'T BAN THIS PICTURE" reported threads had pics from nearly a year ago. I'm not going to go back and retro-actively punish someone for something they did that got missed 9 days ago, let alone 9 months ago.

Oh yeah, and the comment about JG running this board is hilarious. He has said publicly many times that he would be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more strict than I am or than Blackadar was.

I have no problem looking at hot chick pix. It's just that I can find those easily on the 'net. The cool or unusual pix that make up most of this thread I'm less likely to come across on my own. Combine that fact with the fact that it's been made quite clear on this board that there's not a lot of tolerance for things that could get people in trouble for viewing this site at work (including risque pictures of women), and I'm having a hard time feeling terribly sorry for the people that are getting all up in arms about how the mods are acting. If you don't want trouble, don't post risque pix. Why not just keep this thread all about the cool or unusual pictures of things that are not half naked (or fully naked) people, and then there's no problems.

1. Someone is amped up for an unknown reason and takes it out on a mod.

2. Said mod puts him in the box and makes a “did you see what this jackass did” post in the mods forum.

3. SkyDog ups the ban to some stupid length.

4. Everyone who was initially said “yeah, that’s a boxing everyone time” is now saying “3 months, WTF?”

5. We then get the crowning post of the whole affair: SkyDog telling everyone “it’s just a message board; you’re being stupid for taking this seriously and YOU MUST RESPECT MY AUTHOURITY.”

6. Everyone sighs and thinks “yep, still a douche with a stick up his ass.”

Rinse and repeat every 9-12 months.
