Yeah, he's lucky that the Walmart guy could read! ;)

But not fully, huh?

Airhog 10-24-2005 09:40 PM

I assume that since Skydog said he was going to look, and never posted again, he must be playing Civ4. It is the only logical conclusion

Wouldn't it be also logical that he would be watching the Mighty Vick?

Eilim 10-24-2005 09:54 PM

To pass the time (and keep myself from getting giddy like a child on christmas eve.) been playing some fun sessions of Civ 2 while listening to "Civilizations" from this site: Link.

Been a while since I've gotten this excited about a game release. Luckily I avoided the whole Civ 3 dissapointment, can't remember what distracted me from having any interest in that one until after the bad reviews started coming in.

Since he posted on the other thread, I think that's likely ;).

Anyone know how this is possible......according to the test, I have 510.5MB of RAM. Didn't know that was possible. Oh well, I'm just excited to play this game tomm (as long as EB games doesn't screw up my order or anything).

Yeah I pre-ordered it from EB games about a week ago, and got the special edition free. I know I sure as hell couldn't pass that up.

jeff061 10-25-2005 06:26 AM

Quake4, FEAR, Civ IV. Where'd all these triple a games come from all of a sudden? What else is on the horizon?

Yossarian 10-25-2005 07:06 AM

X3
UFO: Aftershock (not triple A but the closest commercially available to x-com)
Oblivion (sequal to morrowind et al)
...

jeff061 10-25-2005 07:09 AM

Oblivion will dwarf even the best AAA game for me :), Not enough time in the day.

Bee 10-25-2005 07:13 AM

Oblivion looks great. Between that and FM2006, I think I'm set for the rest of the year.

Mizzou B-ball fan 10-25-2005 08:36 AM

I need info. Someone post something dammit! Today is the day! Someone bust down some store doors and get a copy!

ISiddiqui 10-25-2005 08:40 AM

Most of us work... sorry ;).

Though I'd go to Apolyton for "I GOT THE GAME" threads... though I haven't seen any yet.

I work too. I'm just hoping that the slackers come through and start posting quickly! :)

Celeval 10-25-2005 09:43 AM

Bleah. Local GameStop says "It'll come out tomorrow."

Flasch186 10-25-2005 09:47 AM

yup, i called some places and they all said that they'll receive their shipment tomorrow....bastards.

ISiddiqui 10-25-2005 09:51 AM

Sons of bitches! If it shipped yesterday, it should be in TODAY! After all, isn't Tuesday the big day for releases of games in this country?

Toddzilla 10-25-2005 09:53 AM

Northern Virginia GameStops say the game is being shipped to them today, should be in-stores tomorrow.

Northern Virginia Circuit Citys say the game is not in stock, is not in transit, and is not scheduled for shipment. Your guess is as good as theirs as to when they'll get it.

Northern Virginia Best Buys say they dont have the game in their system yet, no ship dates, estimates, nothing.

Northern Virginia Wal-Marts say let me transfer you to electronics, let me transfer you to games, customer service, the snack bar, baby clothes, ad infinitum.

EDIT: Another Best Buy in NoVa said they had a "major shipping problem" and they will have the game on the shelves on Thursday the 27th.

Ksyrup 10-25-2005 09:57 AM

I'll be heading to BB in a while for something else, and will see if they have Civ IV in stock. I'm holding off on buying it, as I don't think my computer is powerful enough. Also, I'd rather wait for the first patch or two.

henry296 10-25-2005 10:07 AM

The Best Buy circular in the Sunday paper for this week indicates Civ IV to be in stores on Wednesday.

SackAttack 10-25-2005 10:35 AM

http://www.gamenikki.com/g3/inTheNews/Josh.php?id=65

Shipped today.

Should be in stores tomorrow or Thursday.

vex 10-25-2005 10:38 AM

Yep, BB website says:

Sid Meier's Civilization IV - Windows
21712

Release Date: 10/27/2005

vex 10-25-2005 10:41 AM

And Walmart's site doesn't know what to think:

Civilization IV PC
Firaxis has announced it is planning on adding another installment to its best-selling strategy series.

ESRB Rating: Everyone 10+
Release Date: 10/25/2005

$49.82

Passacaglia 10-25-2005 10:50 AM

I just called my local BB and they said they have a shipment coming in sometime this evening, and it should be on that. Does the information above mean this guy is on crack? I don't know much about how video game releases work..

I was going to wait a couple weeks to see about this game, but it's Civ! I'll probably buy it even if it sucks, so I might as well just get it over with. Too tempting..

Mizzou B-ball fan 10-25-2005 11:10 AM

General concensus amongst the Civ fan sites appears that it will be in stores tomorrow. Possibility for late tonight arrival at some stores, but tomorrow is the likely date it will be on shelves.

Confirmed now. Game will be in store tomorrow.

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=132750

vex 10-25-2005 12:12 PM

I wonder if that means Walmart won't have it out til next Tuesday, wouldn't be the first time that's happened.

ISiddiqui 10-25-2005 12:44 PM

I don't think anyone has gotten it today... at least that is what I read on Apolyton. Although a number of sites said the game shipped YESTERDAY and if you ordered overnight shipping, I'd imagine you'd have to get it today, right? But that's not the case.

SackAttack 10-25-2005 12:50 PM

Shrug, all I know is 2K Games didn't email me the press release saying it shipped until this morning. That tells me ship date = today, but what do I know.

LOL at the attached image in post #35 of that thread. Has that GIF ever been posted on this forum?

Yes. I've seen it elsewhere, too, but I believe Subby posted in a thread a few weeks ago.

Any guy who starts by saying Civ 2 is the worst game and Civ 3 had a great AI had already lost a lot of credibility in my books...

I felt the same way, but he gives a walk through of Civ 4.

The walk-through he does brought the game back on my radar. Interested to hear how others like it.

I really like the idea of unit's gaining experience.

Bonegavel 10-25-2005 02:46 PM

My local ebgames said they were hoping it would arrive today, but it is looking like tomorrow. Can't wait to pick this up.

Coop 10-25-2005 03:35 PM

My gamestop order is processing..hopefully it ships soon

So this site says my video card failed on both my laptops. I have a Mobility M9 with 64 MB on one comp and a GForce 4 440 on the other with 64 MB. On both instances the video card features underneath it pass. Does this mean the game will not run properly on either one, or will I be able to turn some things down and make it work?

You do realize that sites like that exist for getting you to go out and buy a new video card, right? Too many people have 'passed' on the components only to get a 'fail' on the main video ram requirement.
