there has been and I was one of those people who swore I would never play in one like that again.

IMO it was a complete pointless waste of time and a total crapshoot.

It was like playing poker and not looking at your cards.

OK, I admit it is a reach but I want to make sure that this thread is getting the attention it needs. There have been a few too many people just dying with dignity lately.

Hoops posts too much in WW anyway. This is a good mechanism, I say.

path12 06-23-2008 12:00 PM

Maybe there is a way to have his posts not count? :)

hoopsguy 06-23-2008 12:02 PM

Seriously, I'm degrading the value of post counts as a method to measure the worth of a member of the community. Someone should really stop this insanity. Apparently Cronin is just the man to make that stand.

hoopsguy 06-23-2008 12:03 PM

Although, there are others who might want to be careful. If my example was to be extended to other WW posters then they may find themselves looking over their posting shoulders, figuratively speaking ....

I felt a little bad about taking the top spot from Alan, after he worked so hard in dilgently taking that spot from you. But not THAT bad -- even if the argument I was making was pointless, anyway. I think that the difference between me compared to you and Alan, though, is that each post of yours could contain all sorts of subtle lies and cleverly concealed misdirections, while my posts are usually random accusations and lame jokes.

Oh, I know. That fiasco and one other ww meltdown were what turned me off and caused me to stop playing for a few months.

It just seemed like in this thread there was a whole lot of talking around it, where jeheinz was asking what the situation with them was and there was never a post that really said what happened.

But then jeheinz had the post saying:

Quote:

Wow, someone actually bothered to do that?

Which made it seem like the Blade stuff was posted but then deleted or something. I was just wonder if that was the case, why delete it?

Narcizo 06-24-2008 08:29 AM

Path edited his post so I presume he's the villain. As usual.

I think that would be an excellent pick. He doesn't get the attention of a Lathum, but his skill is right up there.

Just as a reminder how small this thread still is ... the current game is going to surpass this thread in posts on the first day. Most likely with 12 or so hours remaining until the deadline for Day 1.

I think we could bump up its number of replies with some discussion on the thought processes you used in making your draft selections.

I felt it was the fairest way to do it. 21 players, 20 numbers + bullseye. Of course, given my lack of skill that one player was almost certainly a villager.

Maybe I'll post a pic of this after the game.

So what did you do when you hit the wall and completely missed the dartboard?

Drink another shot, and re-throw. I was trying to get a sense for the darts culture.

In that case you can cut out the "shot" nonsense. Darts is all about drinking your own body weight in lager. (well maybe not "all" about it, there's some actual chucking darts involved somewhere down the line, but still) And as your body weight increases due to the ever-expanding beer belly it can turn into a pretty vicious circle. Well, ugly, actually judging by most professional darts players.

Alan T 07-01-2008 02:25 PM

This thread hasn't had much love because of the other threads for the current game. So I'll just post here to vent instead.

I saved the bodyguard and one of the seers from the first night lynch. I made the correct initial gut feel on Pass which unfortunately I let the rest of my helpful villager teammates talk me out of later in the game. I made the correct call on not pushing for BK's lynch...

I made the wrong gut call on Saldana obviously..

So Saldana is excused, but anyone else who wants to give me utter crap, insult me or swear at me can just go to hell!

There, got it out of my system, now off to drink some vodka or something.

Barkeep49 07-01-2008 02:30 PM

Listen no one is to blame for my lynch but me, but you were a leading pusher of me as a lynch candidate even if you did make the right decision in the end. If you were going to no lynch D1 to gain entry into the COT why not announce it after one reveal so that we don't get screwed over a second time?

My thinking is that this game was pretty stressful, and some of the early deaths were glad to get out of it. Not me. I was hoping to save the village -- sorry for being so helpful, guys!

It doesn't matter though because Lathum scanned you. Any NK except Lathum would have had the same result.

Night one, small game because of my stupid, STUPID decision to insinuate I was the mayor to get votes off of me. In hindsight I probably had enough time to get them off me anyway, not sure. Gahhhh!

To be fair you weren't lynched you were duked. It wasn't anything personal, I just needed somebody to duke and you had the second most votes.

hoopsguy 07-16-2008 03:48 PM

See what happens with no lynch in the first two days of a big game? People forget to post in here when they are killed!

I'm extremely disappointed that I was slower on the draw than the Spawn. Stupid rules and/or random # generator. I take back my five * rating on that thread :)

And Alan, day 6 is not early...be thankful we let you live as long as we did :D

I think you should be thankful that you let him live as long as you did :) It extended your own Spawn-like existance one more day, because without the threat of a duke I would have gone all vigilante/ninja on you

Yeah, yeah, yeah...I'm still pissed I'm dead, really wanted to win that game.

Oh well. I won my last game as a wolf so I can't complain too much...

path12 07-16-2008 08:23 PM

We are dead once again. Ouch.

hoopsguy 07-16-2008 08:23 PM

And it is damn hard being a wolf as many times as you have been now.

You can always look back fondly on the glory you achieved as the cultist ...

st.cronin 07-16-2008 08:24 PM

It was actually quite a good reveal, and you almost pulled it off. Fake reveals are very hard. I don't think I've ever pulled one off succesfully.

hoopsguy 07-16-2008 08:25 PM

Yep, I think people are a little bit smarter than they used to be when it comes to sniffing out the fake reveals.

I think I'm a much better player because I was a wolf a LOT in my early career. It'll be a tricky transition the first time you are a villager, but you will find you have insight into bad guy play that lasts.

I agree. It's remarkable how many times a reveal/countereveal is decided in the villager friendly way no matter who reveals first.

My mistake was thinking "who I would have protected if I were the BG?" and you made sense at that point because of the keep the CoT alive thing and that I would most likely have not been a night one wolf target.

After I believe it was you who pointed out the fact the wolves would not have gone after you I really wished I could have done a rewind on my reveal but I also couldn't think of a good reason to argue that the wolves would have attacked me night one.

EagleFan 07-16-2008 08:32 PM

Oh, and please don't take offense over the elitist statements. I was just trying to play the game and someone else made reference to that early in the post so I went with it.

I don't enter these games with any intention of taking things to a personal level and hope things I say are not taken that way. I actually felt bad in the last game at getting oliegirl as frustrated as I did.

I'm actually pretty happy -- I think I lose more of those one-on-ones than I win. Might have gotten away with a fake reveal once or twice but no more than that.

That's sweet EF, but no hard feelings...it's the nature of the game. Especially when you are a wolf...I don't get frustrated so much when someone goes after me, but more when I know I'm right (like I was in that game) and no one else in the village will listen! :)

Lathum 07-17-2008 09:10 AM

I thought you would have pulled it off had you claimed to protect yourself.

The wolves can go for anyone night one, you could claim you were attacked because the wolves wanted to go for a low profile player who may not be protected...

I'm not sure if that would have bought him more support from where I was watching. I actually think like St.cronin said his play was probably the best one he had.. If he had said he guarded himself and then Path came out saying he was attacked instead, I still think people would have believed Path.

I think saying he guarded BK and blocked an attack was probably his best play there personally, but Path did a better job of supporting his case. I think ultimately the thing that helped Path the most were the day 1 clues that actually had told Eaglefan to even try to attack him that night. The foundation for a more believable story for Path was there is all.

In the end, a bodyguard block is pretty huge in most games, but in a small game even more so. So to get as close as he did to getting out of that with even 1 extra life taken would have been huge.. I thought it was well played by both Path and Eaglefan, but also equally well played by some of the villagers who also chose correctly.
