It's staggering to me that Matrix is still trying to get $50 for an actual physical copy of this game.

More staggering, perhaps, it that they have not tried to distance themselves from this diseased, diarrhea-spray of a game to maintain some semblance of credibility as a publisher.

Ran across this little gem. Might want to think about putting Pumpy on suicide watch.

Update on IFL game status

A few days ago I discussed the workings of a possible Indoor Football League game slated for release by the time the IFL kicks off its 2010 season.

In the post I pondered the possibility that the IFL may have reached out to David Winter of WinterValley software to develop the presumed PC-only endeavor.

In an e-mail to Winter he divulged only that he and the league talked earlier in the year and couldn’t say any more at this time.

I would presume Winter and the IFL are either still working on a deal or that the game is being developed as we speak. Whether it hits in time for a 2010 season release is anyone’s guess. In my experience with WinterValley and Maximum-Football I know that David won’t force a deadline if he isn’t satisfied with the final product. Either way, we’ll keep you guys posted best we can.

Here's what I think is the block: I'm not running Microsoft Access. There's the 60-day Trial of Microsoft Office and then you have to pay for the license, and I'll be damned if I'm paying for something that used to come 'free' with every other computer I've ever owned.

Office has never been free, if it came with your computer you paid for it moron.

I know what to do, but I'm not the one with the problem of not having Access, just pointing out that because you have it on your computer does not mean you must have paid for it.

I re-read it, I guess I was under the assumption that by 'free' he mean free through illegal means, which he does not think is possible anymore. But it could be 'free' with the free trial and a free key. Hence if it is on your computer does not mean that you paid for it. Maybe I could have been more clear as I only posted a link to the free download.

No, you still missed it...I'll break it down for you. The original quote said "I'll be damned if I'm paying for something that used to come 'free' with every other computer I've ever owned." MS Office never came free with a computer. If it came pre-installed, it was purchased with the computer. The "moron" statement wasn't in relation to the demo, it was for the belief that Office came free with any purchased computer. Make sense now?

I get what you are saying and realize he was stating it was not free because you eventually had to pay for it if you go through legal means. The question then is what does 'free' mean? Whether it was 'free' because it was paid for unknowingly, or 'free' because it was an illegal copy. My thinking it was the second option or why have the apostrophes around free? My argument then was he does not know how to get it 'free' anymore, and does not feel he should have to pay since he did not previously. I could be wrong, but that is how I read it. Hence you can have a free copy of it still if you have the free trial installed if you get an illegal free key online. The point I'm trying to make is that because something like Office is on your computer pre-installed or not does not mean it can't be 'free' to the user.

Ronnie Dobbs2 11-23-2009 06:19 PM

No, he was referring to the fact that when Office is preinstalled you have in fact paid for it and it is not free.

cartman 11-23-2009 06:25 PM

You know what else isn't free? Freedom. It has a heavy fuckin' fee. Freedom costs a buck o' five.

60 days of office for free does not mean free. You still have to pay for it in the end.

Since there was only one game under the category of "Quasi-Wagnerian stop-motion approximation of a sport somewhat resembling an athletic contest of the North American Football variety", and they didn't want to create a "Fashion Barbie simulation" category, they made an editorial decision to leave it out of the listings.

Uh no....this is the first I have heard of this. Does that mean EA allows their employee to produce competing sports titles (or attempt to)?

In 2006 I released a 3D football title called Maximum-Football in which I created all 3D artwork and animation, and designed and coded all features.

In 2005 I was approached and recruited by Electronic Arts and since then, I have been the Online Producer/Designer at the EA Canada studios creating the online experience for EA Sports titles (including the annual releases of Madden NFL Football, NHL Hockey, NBA Live, and FIFA Soccer, and many others).

FOF
Professional Football Simulator
Football Mogul
Action PC Football
Total Pro Football
Universal Football League
Draft Day Sports Pro Football
Strat-O-Matic Football

I always enjoyed playing Head Coach V3 back in the early nineties but have not been aware of a worthwhile multi-season, headcoach game since. Are any of the above worth downloading and playing?

I've been tempted by Strat-O-Matic, so was looking forward to opinion too. Enjoyed the board game, but I would prefer season on season progression, and can't work out if that is part of the PC version.

One you missed was Second & Ten - I've dl'd the demo a couple of times, but find it a little bit dry, and the career mode seems very clunky at best.

Izulde 01-01-2011 05:37 PM

DDS: Pro Football hasn't been released yet, FWIW. I love FOF from a GM standpoint. TPF was a bit of a hot mess IMO, although some people really liked it. Football Mogul is terrible in every way.

Welcome...

Wintervalley Model Products
has a new name and a new home

Wintervalley has been in business formally since about 1994 and was started as a business software and game design company. When I began selling hobby products I simply folded that small endeavour under the Wintervalley name. However as my business in the hobby industry grew, it became more apparent that the Wintervalley name and brand didn't fully reflect the business goals. Those goals being to provide Canadian hobby enthusiasts with the very best in Canadian content. With that in mind a new business was created.

Through Canuck Model Products I will work to continue to provide you with the best quality Canadian decals, accessories, and soon, I hope to have full kits.

The new website has been launched at Canuck Model Products: Scale Model Decals and Resin Parts for RCAF Subjects
The new Facebook page is www.facebook.com/canuckmodels

The transition from Wintervalley to Canuck Model Products (CMP) will happen over the next couple of weeks. Transactions from this point forward will be handled under the Canuck Model Products name but the product stock will retain Wintervalley branding until current stock runs out and new stock is created.

Laughing so hard I'm crying. Totally forgot about this song any my favorite "not the Steelers" logo.

On vacation next week may just take a day and reread this thread. It is Gold.

I was rereading this sometime last week which is why I realized this was coming up on 7 years. From start to finish, I am still amazed at this thread even though images were deleted or even references to other threads were removed.

This is one of my favorite post/replies from back when Bubba was still vehemently defending the game.

Damn! It was just 7 years ago on this day that this song was dropped on one of the most amazing threads in FOFC. The thread that lingered for years and had a slew of developers as well as FOFCers contribute. If there are any new game developers and/or game publishers to find out what not to do, this is the best thread for reference.

LLLLLOOOOVVVEE IT!!!

this was so awesome!!!!!!

we need an antmeister anthology thread or something so we can go back and relive the classics!!

One of the all-time greats posts here.

I know it's been 7 years, but does anyone happen to have that commercial mp3 or any of the movies/animation I did?
