I agree with the rest of what you said. The issue here though is postmarking isn't standard practice anymore due to dot matrix codes on the stamps, or so I understand. So the ruling orders that the presumption is they were sent on time if received by a few days later, regardless of postmarking or not. This is one of those cases where improved technology actually makes it more difficult to track this type of issue.

As KY starts to dramatically increase its cases/deaths, the "Covid is going to disappear after the election" conspiracy theory has been replaced with the "isn't it a coincidence that cases are shooting up a few weeks before the election?" crap. They have it figured out either way, no wonder they never think they are wrong and can't tell the difference between truth and lie.

GrantDawg 10-21-2020 03:32 PM

Ummmm...I am seeing someone who watched the early screening that says the girl was introduced as Borat's 15 year old inspiring journalist daughter to Rudy. If true, Rudy did think she was 15. Yeah.

Pretty hard to justify it since they pretend to be federalists who don't want to impede on the sovereignty of the state.

Just use this as another example that the "originalist" argument is complete bullshit. They will go against it for partisan reasons every single time.

Lathum 10-21-2020 05:05 PM

Good Lord Obama is eviscerating Trump at a rally in Philly. Trump is gonna lose it

Said the same thing in the other thread, Lathum. You posted first, so you get the cookie.

Odd that he would race to call the cops and that they didn't find any crime had been committed if that's the case.

Ksyrup 10-21-2020 05:55 PM

Also, all we've seen is a still shot but I read that the explanation is he was tucking in his shirt.

Ksyrup 10-21-2020 06:00 PM

I could do without hearing the words "extreme" and "radical" for about the next 10 years.

GrantDawg 10-21-2020 06:10 PM

We will see on Friday. I can't freaking wait and not just for this scene. The cuts from the movie I have seen are insane.

I really hope I'm wrong about the return of public assassinations, but it feels almost inevitable looking at certain groups.

albionmoonlight 10-21-2020 06:20 PM

I don't see the Borat thing changing voters' minds. Will just preach to the choir.

But I do see it being yet another thing to distract the Trump Campaign when it really should be focusing on winning.

GrantDawg 10-21-2020 06:20 PM

Also, do you lay down on a bed to tuck in a shirt? Have I been doing it wrong all these years?

Not watching it, but reaction on twitter seems to be that the Iranians and Russians are trying to fuck with us and the Iranians were behind the voter intimidation emails ostensibly from the Proud Boys.

Does not seem "emergency press conference" worthy, but maybe we are trying to send a signal to the Russians and Iranians.

Ksyrup 10-21-2020 06:52 PM

It was an emergency to make sure people knew the Proud Boys, who have been associated with Trump, didn't send those emails.

Ksyrup 10-21-2020 07:00 PM

Trump must know the end is near. He's back to arguing/complaining about the coverage of his inauguration crowd size. We've come full circle, folks.

JPhillips 10-21-2020 07:14 PM

The Iranians got voter registration data anybody can get for a small fee?

I expect we'll learn the real reasons behind the briefing soon. My guess is Ratcliffe was spinning the message Wray wanted to put out.

No, but it might put this Hunter Biden shit to bed since that's where it came from.

JPhillips 10-22-2020 11:13 AM

Supergenius Trump releases the 60 Minutes interview just in time to be hammered on specifics from it at tonight's debate.

CraigSca 10-22-2020 11:59 AM

I just watched the interview. Frankly, I think he comes off looking pretty good and any attempt by Stahl to "nail him" looked pretty weak.

Are you also a complete whiner with a victim complex?

spleen1015 10-22-2020 12:26 PM

My guess is he didn't release all of it.

It was 37 minutes.

Lathum 10-22-2020 01:09 PM

29 seconds in he is complaining that they ask easier questions to Biden. There was zero chance this interview was gonna end well.

bronconick 10-22-2020 01:31 PM

Trump tells @60Minutes in footage he released that he wants to see the Supreme Court wipe out Obamacare.

“I hope that they end it.”

Later in the comments

"Every GOP Senator up on Nov 3rd just screamed."

Ksyrup 10-22-2020 01:42 PM

I don't know why that's so bad - it's the same platform they ran on in 2016. His core supporters want it to happen. They don't understand that it will hurt them, they just want "socialism" wiped out. Same scenario happened in 2015 in KY when Matt Bevin was elected on the same platform and his voters were outraged to find out they were losing their healthcare, when that's why they voted for him!

If anything, I think the best argument to make based on this is that they have no plan. They promised to dismantle it in 2017, had the Oval Office and both the House and Senate, and still did nothing. They are the party of blame and complaining with no ideas or solutions.

spleen1015 10-22-2020 02:44 PM

Initially, I was against Obamacare. That was because I was an idiot just going along with the Republican BS.

Now, I don't understand the need to get rid of it. My mom wouldn't have insurance without it.

I am against these ideas that everyone gets the same government insurance because I've purposely put myself in a position to have really good health insurance, but I want everyone else to have it too. It is way too valuable for everyone not to have it.

It is hard for someone like me in our political environment. I lean right policy wise but I can't stand a lot of the politicians and some of the policies I don't like.

Ksyrup 10-22-2020 02:58 PM

If it's true that a Dutch researcher hacked Trump's Twitter account by guessing his PW was maga2020, holy crap. Trump needs it be retired one way or another.

I think it's a very accurate representation of Trump. If you like him, you'll probably like the interview, and if you don't, you won't.

I'm sure glad that the official WH email is sending out good shit like this:

Trump’s Greatest Accomplishments Are What He Hasn’t Done

...and they go on to praise him for NOT seizing power and starting wars.

The bar has never been lower.

This is how it can end without a quasi-civil war, right? He claims that the vote was rigged and he really won. But he leaves, not because he lost, but because he's smart and he can make more money with Trump TV. He leaves on his terms.

Galaril 10-22-2020 08:20 PM

Well sad to say but so far Trump is doing fairly well in this debate compared to last time. If it continues like this I do think he is going to get a decent bump from this.

Jas_lov 10-22-2020 08:24 PM

I saw about 48 million have already voted. If we think 150 million will vote that's a third in. Not sure there's much Trump can do to wipe out an 8 point lead with 12 days left and a third of the vote in.

The bar is so low. This is the GWB scenario: "Well, he's not doing awful so he wins the debate!"

SI

Just throwing it out there. I've already voted for Biden. I was just trying to "keep it real" - I don't think she did a very good job.

For instance, when asked about the "lock her up" statement regarding the governor of Michigan, she should have had her notes and stated specifically when he said "lock her up, lock them all up" this past week. She seems to have the opening statement, but nothing to rebut his rebuttal.

CrimsonFox 10-23-2020 06:30 AM

so Poland just banned most abortions yesterday :/

"I mean, why would you even do a second term as President, right? Why would you want that? I never even wanted that. Everyone told me, sir, you need to run the country needs you. And I said, why would I do that? That makes no sense. Let Pence do it. No sense. And they said that you're our only hope. You're the only one who can stop the deep state. And I said OK. OK. I'll run again, but this doesn't make sense. And then I won, but they stole the election, but we won't even get into that. They stole it, just like they tried to steal the other one. But that's OK. I'm OK. I wasn't even trying to win, and I won anyway. I won Texas. I won Pennsylvania. I even won California. You know that? They did studies, everyone knows that. I won California. 'Oh a Republican can never win California.' But I did. I did and they all know that, but they stole it from me. But that's OK. That's OK.

"And you look at all the money I'm making now. And why would you even want a second term. Obama took a second term. Bush took a second term. And they lost millions. They are running out of money. They have no money. No one talks about that, but they have no money because they decided to do a second term. And I decided not to do a second term and make some money. Because I think I earned it right? I gave up millions. Hundreds of millions to be President. And that's OK. But now I can make money. I'm good with money. I'm great with money. And that's what I do now, and that's OK. And that's why I didn't run for a second term."

Lathum 10-23-2020 08:29 AM

So McConnell is a wight?

QuikSand 10-23-2020 09:58 AM

54% of KY voters will say he's awight enough to come back for 6 more years

JPhillips 10-23-2020 10:03 AM

WIGHT POWER!

Ksyrup 10-23-2020 10:17 AM

Last poll I saw, it was 51-42 McConnell. No way he loses in a state Trump is going to easily win.

Trump won KY in 2016 by 30 points; he's "only" up 17 right now. McConnell was re-elected by 16 points in 2014, so winning by about 10 now makes sense.

PilotMan 10-23-2020 10:26 AM

Ksyrup, you wanna drive up here this weekend for the another "GREAT TRUMP CIRCLE JERK 2020" around 275?
