Well, since this game doesn't have any pointless eye candy, it obviously does matter. :D

Ok. Now leave the guy alone.

No doubt. So when is that tennis game of yours coming out? ;)

Nah. I'm sure yabanci modified his game rules to allow for 6 on the line of scrimmage with eligible covered receivers.

Still testing out that m_GameFile->SetYear(CurrentYear + 1); line. But, I also added a counter for what week it is, m_GameFile->SetWeek(CurrentWeek + 1). Since I doubled the complexity of my program, that's going to need quite a lot of testing.

(EDIT: To add a touch of seriousness, and since someone actually asked about it :D , right now I'm working on assigning points after a tournement is over (testing it right now))

JPhillips 02-04-2006 02:40 PM

I can't believe nobody noticed this feature.

Use of a given name and a jersey name . This allows use of nicknames on the jersey while maintaining the players given name.

Its finally possible to have HE HATE ME on a jersey without having to change Rod Smart's name.

For all you naysayers, try adding nicknames to a three dimensional model with giant feet and a Japanese Kabuki style face and then you have a right to complain. Until then...

yes, six on the line is permitted on 7th down or later.

Bee 02-04-2006 02:42 PM

I actually laughed out loud when I saw someone posted "" about those screenshots...

Now granted, graphics don't matter much to me, and the graphics on the screenshot look fine to me if the rest of the game made up for it. But seriously, they are about the same level as Madden 5 or 6 years ago. Why drool over them? If you want to drool over the flexibility of the game to allow you to play Canadian football or Arena football or peewee football, I can at least understand where you're coming from, I mean there are people who don't care about career play and just want to play out seasons or whatever...but to drool over graphics that are 5 years outdated? That's just sad.

Bee 02-04-2006 02:44 PM

And yes, I know I should just stop going there because I'll be accused of piling on or ruining other people's experience...but it's like a bad train wreck. I just can't stop looking....

Is that formation allowed when I'm attempting a 13 point conversion?

Deattribution 02-04-2006 05:34 PM

Is there going to be custom models for pee-wee leagues or is it going to have 7 foot tall 6 year olds?

CraigSca 02-04-2006 05:43 PM

What's funny is - if the models are actually accurate for Peewee leagues, I'd question the graphics. The pics of the peewee leagues look ridiculously fake. The head to torso ratio is incredible.

Buccaneer 02-04-2006 05:53 PM

Seems to me that this game would have been better developed and presented if it was a CFL sim.

After further review: I will NOT be buying this game. This guy is a total joke.

jbmagic 02-04-2006 06:27 PM

if they had a preorder....

can you imagine if people preorder this game when it was announnce?

stevew 02-05-2006 05:05 AM

I know of a certain sports sim that had a preorder in like 2001 and still hasnt come out. Of course the developers have refunded money's for it, still, just absolutely insane that a project could be roughly 4-5 years behind schedule.

stevew 02-05-2006 05:14 AM

Does the game have "throw off" mode for when nobody wants to kick off, but you gotta get the ball down the field to the other team after a score? What about 2 hand touch mode?

Hmm. Could we field a squad of 100 6 year olds on one side and 1 adult on the other and finally see what happens?

QuikSand 02-05-2006 10:01 AM

What about a team of only 18-inch Ditkas? Can we do that?

(shuddering over the further box art delays that might cause)

Ha! This is an actual game with a politically incorrect name known as Smear the ...oh, nevermind.

Ron Jeremy football. Sounds, well, unusual. And that would provide interesting box art.

I was looking over the customizable rules, and I am disappointed.

First off, no six-down football. Only three or four downs. I can have a one-minute warning, a two-minute warning or a three-minute warning. But no four-minute warning. And I can't have both a one-minute warning and a two-minute warning.

I can have a Rouge (a single point scored on a punt through the end zone), but not a (Mel) Blanc (two points scored on a punt that sails through the press-box window).

I can specify the number of points recorded on a touchdown, a field goal, a PAT or a safety, but not on a two-point conversion. Which kinda sucks, because one rule I've always wanted for football is to eliminate extra points, and to give only one point for a conversion try.

As far as the graphics go, I don't see alternatives for the Lego people. At minimum, there should be regular and Duplo for smaller fans.

I can place the goal posts at the front or the back of the end zone, but I can't put them in the parking lot, nor can I tear them down after the game and bring them home in the back of my pickup truck.

Seriously, I can see where this could be an amazing individual effort on the part of one developer. I just think he's trying to reinvent the wheel here. His extra features are not really all that exciting - they aren't going to bring in a lot of new business.

I think he's missing the point of indie games - to get the complexity where the business model of a large corporation won't take you. His response to Ben's attempt to explain that was overly defensive and dismissive.

Bubba Wheels 02-05-2006 10:44 AM

Yes but what you can do is recreate any team from any era of football and then actually watch them play out the games/season. This is more important to me anyway than the 'career-play' options which seem to have caused all the delays. And its also this element of the game that consistantly gets overlooked or no mention.

BTW, those 'lego-man' games actually do pretty well, or they would have stopped making them after one.

I don't know, maybe because after your regimented indoctrination known as public education you actually see some original thought happening and the little light goes on inside and your inards start pumping with the seer joy of 'thinking outside of the box' or actually doing it for yourself?

Or then again maybe your just smoking something. :D

SirFozzie 02-05-2006 10:56 AM

wow, a religious troll at Public education in a thread about a vaporware sports sim..

That takes talent. :)

That seems like a pretty big oversight when total customization seems to be your major feature.

I've played flag football leagues like that and you end up with a lot of 14-6, 20-12 advantages that require 2 scores and you don't end up with 'fantastic finishes'. Would never work in the NFL.

SFL Cat 02-05-2006 01:36 PM

I want the 3-point PAT -- a field goal attempt from the 30.

fantastic flying froggies 02-05-2006 01:37 PM

Speaking of flag football, will Maximum Football customization allow full contact flag football, or just the non-contact type?

SFL Cat 02-05-2006 01:37 PM

dola -- plus, I want that cool "scramble" thing the XFL did instead of the coin flip.

I'd rather just have it be a set rule. Just give the road team the option to kick, receiver, or defer the decision to the home team.

Then the only coin flip would be in the super bowl.

Solecismic 02-05-2006 01:45 PM

Better than flipping coins, they should make the players solve complicated math equations.

It might be a good idea not to have have a Miamu U player on a math-off coverage unit

that is all I'm going to say about this. For the rest of you, don't let the pretty picture painted by MF advocates blur what the game is really about or how it will peform and/or look. I mean, the stats in the game cannot even be sortble in it's own colmuns. Oh well......
