Werewolf Basics (New Players Look Here) - Front Office Football Central

This is a good basic overview - most barebones WW games have roles/abilities known pre-game, a simple day/night phase, and a lynch vote every day to remove one player from the game.

Games like this are a lot of fun and require a ton of work from the moderator (thanks, EF!) since there's not usually things like skill points or projects or positions to vote people to - or the dreaded bull moose specials.

Rule of thumb - if you aren't sure if something should be asked in thread, ask EF in a PM first. :D

No worries you didn't say what your skill points are! It's a fair question, and I think I can guess at the answer, but we shouldn't be doing it in the thread. :)

Definitely read back to the first few posts if you are unsure of any rules, for instance editing posts being forbidden.

No real thoughts on my selections that haven't been expressed elsewhere. I think we have strong candidates for several posts, and I wouldn't be too upset of others than those I voted for make it.

I probably feel strongest that we should get the Biodome going. It's essentially our "home".

Not that it was a big reach, but I am happy to note this is exactly the max range I anticipated.

These are my votes unless something significant occurs to change my mind. I think we would be foolish to not consider that without food our colony will not survive for long, so we should seriously consider appointing our overall's wearing farmer to the position of lead scientist. It may come with the added perk of a Earth sponsorship from Monsanto.

As far as engineer, I think broad knowledge wins out. We don't know what we will need to deal with as this colony progresses.

The Professor's educated (see what I did there) guesses:

Biodome: could see many ways in which this helps us survive, avoid losing people, potentially gain or recover skill points, and probably even make the chances of other projects being more successful which is key to me

Government: probably reduces the chances of sabotage, both to projects and maybe even people acting on their own (or under influence) - maybe important to armed resistance if it comes to that

Science: thinking this will be important to victory conditions, maybe weaponry to help defend ourselves

Medical: probably has to do with regenerating skill points, combatting extraterrestrial forces on the human body that we're not used to

I previously had not selected anyone for Leader. I am still shocked DanGarion is running away with it, and that nobody seems to care that we don't know his background. I am beginning to think I am the lone human on board with 21 aliens...

Doctor is a change of vote because the more I think about it, I feel like we want to maximize the healing opportunity here, and less overseeing.

Descending into Hell

Your crafts is descending towards Mars. It seems to be moving quicker than you expected but since this is a first experience for everyone you really have no idea how quickly it should be descending, though what seems like turbulence is unbearable.

The craft feels like it is going to shake apart at times. You try to sit back and think that the computer, created by people much smarter than you (at least some of you think that) will do its job and put you down near your supply drops. But what happens if it is off course.

Screaming... you hear screaming... the screaming of the first colony is crystal clear in your head. You can't shake it. The screaming is almost maddening. Please make the screams stop.

As you look around you can see that everyone looks distressed, they must be hearing this too. What you don't see is that one of you is smiling, almost as if enjoying the screams of terror.

Once leaders are chosen do we need to set up who's working on what teams? Will the skill levels of the entire team (or colony) affect the outcome on dicerolls?

i find it weird that SEVERAL people are vague with their characters. Makes me think a lot of them ARE vague. I'm not very specific at all myself.

It's not like I am a hospital administrator. I am the head physician of a very large hospital, the doctor that a doctor like Chief Rum would report to and turn to when he did not know what to do. It certainly would make more sense to have me leading the medical effort and directing the other physicians, just like I do on earth, including emergency physicians.

I wish I had a great reason or a magic wand to get everyone to vote for me;). I still think that my skillset and past experience will help the colony flourish. I am confident in that. I just don't believe a professor is the best choice or a mystery man for that matter.

I'm fairly certain I can go toe to toe in a fist fight with anyone of you atrophied colonists. Isn't that what you want in a Sheriff? Someone who can put some muscle into the mix if necessary.

If you want to vote Old Man River in as Sheriff, realize it wont be hard to overthrow the leader. A plotting, scheming, General type is just the guy to make such a maneuver.

Or you can go for the doughnut eating meter maid who is pretending to be a beat cop.

The choice is clear, you just haven't realized it yet.

I'm not sure I particularly think any of the candidates for leader are the best qualified, but I more and more find DanGarion's commentary to be disturbing. Better the keys to power be in the hands of a academic than a potentially corrupt politician with Suicane.

I am probably going to switch off myself for leader in 10ish minutes and vote for suicane. He is the next best choice other than myself based on what has happened thus far to me.

I'm more than willing and qualified to do the job, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not a bit apprehensive about taking such a prominent role, mainly because of sheer game play ability. That being said, I don't think there is anyone more qualified for this particular role in the game.
