The problem is that the danger from them is much larger than the danger to them. Even putting aside age etc each one of them only faces odds once, while if they spread it odds are they spread it to more than one person and start a chain that ends with someone dying or getting seriously ill that they never even met in their lifes.

"It'll start getting cooler. You just... You just watch."

We all saw this coming, but it's still shocking when you hear and see the man say it.

albionmoonlight 09-15-2020 06:48 AM

Look at the Chryon.

I'm old enough to remember when the GOP line was that the lockdowns were not necessary and they would go away if Biden won because they were all a librul conspiracy to hurt Trump.

I guess we've always been at war with Eastasia again.

They somehow believe both. They are totally "anything that can stick" campaigning.

My appreciation for the effectiveness of this kind of shit, and my resulting depression about the same, just continues to grow. I guess you still put some effort into "normal" stuff like good/popular policy, but at some point why even bother? Lies and propaganda are just a better bang for your buck. smh

The Hispanic vote in Florida tends to be largely Cuban-American, who are more republican leaning that other Hispanic blocks. They tend to be pro law enforcement, oppose illegal immigration and favor a strong work ethic. Hillary Clinton won the Florida Hispanic vote 59% to 36% in 2016; however, an NBC-Marist poll released last week found Latinos in the state about evenly divided between Biden and Trump.

Not doing any work leaves quite a lot of time for campaigning. Outside of media, rallies, and fundraisers, what does he have to get done?

But he's polling several points higher among white voters, so he's had a slim lead overall.

Trump says that in 2018 he wanted to assassinate Assad, but Mattis didn't want to.

Yeah, I know. I'm just angry and fed up with the stupidity and obstinacy. And unfortunately, until these people start seeing people they know die, they're not going to get it. (And even THEN they may not get it.)

Anyway, I know a Cuban couple who has really eaten this stuff up. They are convinced that if Biden wins it'll be a replay of Castro's Cuba. Good people who have gone totally over the deep end.

And it'll be interesting to see how $100mil of Bloomberg money changes things in Florida as well.

JPhillips 09-15-2020 10:48 AM

Yeah, if Bloomberg actually spends that money it could be very well targeted.

What I will never understand is why tons of money doesn't go to an organized voter transport system. Compared to TV advertising, it wouldn't even cost that much.

Judging how he wasted a billion dollars promoting himself for president, probably not much.

The billion dollars got him in double digits in the polls. Unfortunately (for him) it meant he got on the debate stage.. and he was terrible on that.

I often wonder how much of this stuff is purposeful, just to piss off the other side/media. Like the emblem, for instance. A big inside joke, just because.

20+ years ago, I worked for a state agency that was headed by an elected official who had decided to run for Senate. He got maximum political juice out of a particular case we handled - the case was legit, but he inserted himself into it as a fact witness and made the lawyers' lives miserable - and thanks to his "hands on" approach, the routine issuance of orders became a legal battle because it was in doubt who had authority to sign.

When the original orders got thrown out due to a technicality over who signed them, we had to get the governor to appoint someone. So their great idea was to have him appoint the same person who signed the first set of orders as an FU. They just thought that was the funniest thing ever.

This type of stuff reminds me a lot of that.

sterlingice 09-15-2020 12:26 PM

There's like a 80% chance of incompetence with every decision. But there's always just enough of a chance that it's his next troll job to distract from something else.

But, I mean - what do you do? You just let it go and you normalize it. Or you bring it up and get drug into the mud.

But saying “we’re not technically as bad as the Nazis” is a pretty low bar, and doesn’t excuse the current abuses being perpetrated against vulnerable communities by the Trump regime. Trump has a good attack against Biden. Biden may talk about a national mask mandate, but why hasn't he done it yet?

ISiddiqui 09-15-2020 10:47 PM

I'm stunned he blamed Biden for not doing a mask mandate that at a town hall. Imagine if he tries that at a debate...

Trump is such an outsider candidate that he's running as an outsider even though he's the President.

This is the exact genesis of Q. Campaigned as an outsider. Won as an outsider. Now on the inside, still on the outside against "The Depp State". Needs "true believers" to understand how deep the state is. Anyone who opposes him is part of it, and only he can succeed against it. Therefore, any opposition to him, i.e. Deep State, he must win, because even though he's the President, he's still the underdog and still the outsider.

Coincidentally, it's also the Lifetime Original Story of Sallie Jessie Raphael.

...don't forget that any opposition to Trump is also due to their desire to continue to molest children. Trump is against molestation.

The bad news for Trump, assuming he was truly hoping to reach undecideds, is that only 3.8M people watched the town hall. The good news for Trump, given his performance, is that only 3.8M watched. What a ratings loser. Sad!

This incremental disenfranchisement of voters is taking forever.

Let's just cut to the chase and pass the "Only White Fox News Viewers in rural Oklahoma get to vote for President" Act and be done with it. It's where the country is going to end up by 2032 anyway, so why not just rip the Band-Aid and do it now?
