Evangelicals are the most morally bankrupt people in this country and don't give a shit about church unless they can use it to advance hate with a shield.

Props to the kid for getting these 2 sacks of shit out of the public eye for awhile.

And he just told the Washington Examiner that his wife had an affair with the pool boy. He says he went public because of years of extortion threats, but the pool boy says he's going to say what really happened.

I have no love for Liberty U., but they have to cut this guy loose ASAP.

Their daughter has recently been outspoken, her political beliefs sway quite a bit further to the left than them both.

Yep agree 100%. There's probably a worse story behind the admission too.

JPhillips 08-24-2020 08:18 AM

Just saw my favorite comment on the GOP lack of platform,

Instead of a platform they went with an, I'm with Stupid, t-shirt.

IIRC the rumor for years has been the pool boy is gay, so... That should be fun.

As a gay man, I will take no delight in him coming/be forced out (well maybe just a little :))

As a gay man, ewww I would never want to be with him, not even after the pelvic thrusts he showed off while two college girls stood on either side of the barbells. :(

albionmoonlight 08-24-2020 09:46 AM

My predictions about the not-very-hard-to-predict RNC.

It will be run kind of sloppy. And the usual suspects will give red meat speeches without much substance and a lot of lies and quasi-lies. And Eric Trump in particular will remind us why the Trumps have felt just fine keeping him out of the spotlight.

And the WaPo and NYT will write lots of editorials about the convention was run poorly and winked at racism and didn't address any of the real problems in the country.

And it won't make a lick of difference at all.

JPhillips 08-24-2020 09:52 AM

By my count there are 9 Trumps or Trump wives/girlfriends/husbands speaking at the RNC.

So pretty much all of them. Geez do they even need Barron to get up there and kill 30 minutes for filling the tv time?

thesloppy 08-24-2020 11:27 AM

Trump has also said he will be speaking on all 4 nights.

Am I wrong? Even when there is an incumbent President, don't they normally do the nomination and roll call in the evening during the week?

I think that with COVID, each party decided to do it differently. The Dems went with the "video from everywhere" approach. The GOP just did it off camera.

I will say that my various PredictIt bets on variations of "Trump is not the 2020 GOP nominee" made over the last three years cost me some dollar dollar bills this morning.

Ksyrup 08-24-2020 12:47 PM

One would hope...

Falwell's grandfather was a monster. From Jerry Sr.'s autobiography.

No kidding, that is just plain sick and disgusting. Him saying that bordered on cruelty isn't even fit to be called an understatement. I seriously would be going to jail.

This should be big news to the evangelical community, but I'm guessing that it won't.

My mom shares Falwell, Jr. stuff all the time. But I've always given her a pass because she's really thinking about Falwell, Sr. and equating the two. Kind of in the same way that I like to cheer for Vlad Guerrero's kid.

BillyMadison 08-24-2020 01:51 PM

They probably should have just taken a day off from social media. The replies are.... hilarious.

He'll apologize, disappear to work on his marriage, then start making the rounds through right wing media asking for forgiveness. There's nothing evangelicals love more than a redemption story. Real or otherwise.

I guess actual cruelty would be going full blown Eric Cartman.

Stories like that give me some insight into why Trump's mocking of a disabled reporter didn't kill his campaign before it started.

For people like me, it was cruel and barbaric and immature and bullying. It seemed easily disqualifying for a politician of either party.

If you consider Trump's base all of the guys who helped catch and kill the cat and feed it to the owner, having a great laugh over it the whole time, Trump starts to make a lot more sense.

Edward64 08-24-2020 02:20 PM

Do we need a HoN for Mrs. Falwell?

Nah, he'll throw his wife under the bus and just claim she had an affair. Probably make her go out and apologize while he acts as the wounded husband who was cheated on.

Never heard the gay part but them being swingers has been an open secret for awhile.

I don't know if people remember but Falwell Sr was a segregationist and a scam artist. Said America deserved 9/11 because of feminism.

I don't know where the best place is for this. So, here looks good.

How to vote by mail in the 2020 U.S. election - Polygon

PilotMan 08-24-2020 05:22 PM

I actually support the normalization of things like Fallwell's kink, but when you're a grade A douchebag and fuckstick like he is, who would gladly ruin many, many other lives to support his hypocrisy then I hope he has a very long, hard fall. But they couldn't bury his wailing and crying daddy, so I'm sure he'll find "faith" and be 'born again', one more time.

albionmoonlight 08-24-2020 05:26 PM

Trump is good at this.

COVID still raging.

Trump Org investigation announced

Another police shooting in the Midwest.

Trump: "Hey, everyone, shout '12 more years' to get the media's attention"

Media: OH MY GOD, Those Keys are SO SHINY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ISiddiqui 08-24-2020 05:54 PM

He's not that calculating. He actually is tickled by the crowd wanting him to be President for Life.

I don't know. Over the past two weeks his approval rating averages a -10 net.

And he's down 7.6 to Biden in the RCP average.

What is unique is the way the GOP sticks with him no matter what. Today I saw a poll where Trump has 80% support among 2016 Trump voters that have lost their job and not found new employment. That's not normal.

spleen1015 08-24-2020 06:01 PM

He's sticking to his MO, accusing his opponents of doing exactly what he's doing.

GrantDawg 08-24-2020 06:08 PM

Falwell is now denying he resigned.

9.4% (the highest I've seen) per 538 and it looks like the convention is giving Biden a ~2 point bump at the moment. That's going to wear off, but every little bump Biden gets makes it more difficult for Trump.

Reports today that Trump Jr. believes his dad is going to lose and they'll all be indicted as well.

The DeJoy testimony today was a shitshow. The head of the USPS couldn't tell the committee how much a stamp costs, wasn't sure who made the call to dismantle mail sorting machines, and acknowledged his changes aren't working and couldn't explain why.

Meanwhile, the GOP claimed mail delays are a conspiracy and everything is working fine.

Slightly altered from Kilgore Trout:

He didn't quit, he just watched while his job got fucked.

I'm kind of surprised vintage campaign signs aren't a thing. Hart '88!

RainMaker 08-24-2020 08:45 PM

Can someone explain the MS-13 thing? I live in a big city and have heard of gangs, but never this one. They would make you thing there are millions.

JPhillips 08-24-2020 08:46 PM

Black people are stupid slaves, doesn't seem like a message aimed at actual black people.

Drake 08-24-2020 08:57 PM

From 538's live coverage of the RNC:

Quote:

“If you want to see the Biden-Harris socialist vision for our country, just look at California,” current speaker Kimberly Guilfoyle says. The governor of California just happens to be her ex-husband, Gavin Newsom.
