i have a couple questions hopefully someone can help me out with.

1. do i have to download this game from SI Games website, or is it available at retail stores.

2. which retail stores

3. is there a difference between FM and WSM in terms of actual game play, and if so, which one is better (FM i assume), and how do i get it.

thanks

MikeVick7 06-07-2006 11:15 PM

1. Both
2. I'm not sure.
3. They are the same game, just different packaging and names.

cool thanks, the DL just seems to be very slow when i tried to get the demo yesterday...maybe i'll let it do it tonight while i'm sleeping so i can waste the entire night at work tomorrow learning how to play.

J-League soccer is not represented in FM2006, apparently. I was going to run a pure Asian game and see where it went, but without the J-League, it just doesn't seem worth it.

sovereignstar 06-07-2006 11:46 PM

Someone made a mod that made J-League "playable". Basically, they just switched out China's league for that one. You can find it in the Editors Hideaway forum.

aran 06-07-2006 11:48 PM

Nah. I want to keep the other leagues intact. I'd much rather replace a league that I will almost never have playable, or just have it as an addition with no subtractions.

so replace one of the other asian leagues. or the mexican league or something like that. you're not going to get it as an addition with no subtractions though, so it's up to YOU to decide what to subtract.

MikeVick7 06-08-2006 01:15 AM

Do games that you lose via a penalty shootout not count as an actual loss? I'm currently on this ridiculous streak w/o a loss and a game that I lost in the Carling Cup on penalty shots should be breaking up my streak, but the game seems to be recognizing that as a draw.

Is this correct?

saldana 06-08-2006 01:39 AM

ok, i must be some kind of retard, i have spent the last 20 minutes pouring over si games website trying to find a download of fm 2006 that isnt the beta demo, and i cant find one...is there a full version that is downloadale, and where the hell is it. i really want to play this game!!

MikeVick7 06-08-2006 01:46 AM

Cup games do not count on your League winning/losing streaks.

Also, games that go to penalties are officially recorded as a draw, so they wouldn't affect your overall undefeated streak.

Right, but if you go into your team records, cup games count towards your overall winning and losing streaks.

ice4277 - Ok, then that makes sense why that loss isn't breaking up the streak.

Two questions:

1. This digital download version: Any idea if I can download it once and install it on two different computers (i.e. desktop and laptop)?

2. Training: Do you still need to take people off of "regular" training schedules and onto "light" ones for the summer?

Passacaglia 06-09-2006 01:31 PM

1. I don't have the digi-download, but I think you can install it 5 times -- though I might be thinking of BBCF.

2. I never do that -- during the summer, the game puts my players on holiday.

1. yep, you do have two licenses and there is a "how to" somewhere in the thread here to license it on two separate computer

2. as Passacaglia said, the game automatically puts your players on holiday until a few days before your first friendly, unless the player has international play during the Summer...

FrogMan 06-09-2006 01:50 PM

okay, wasn't easy to find but here's the way to go to license the game on two computer:

Yes, someone could get 2 licenses (but these are hardware locked). If a
customer wants to install on 2 machines:
1. For Trial: they would first download, use the trial, purchase and it
will be unlocked by autoinjection. To download on another machine, they
would download it again, go to Customer Service in the reminder screen
-> Find My Order -> enter their order ID and the key will be
autoinjected into the second machine.
2. For Direct Purchase: they would first purchase, then download and
the key will be injected immediately after installation. To download on
another machine, they would download it again, go to Customer Service in
the reminder screen -> Find My Order -> enter their order ID and the key
will be autoinjected into the second machine.

Thanks FrogMan!!! :)

lcjjdnh 06-10-2006 08:57 AM

Is there anyway to re-download/license the game if my computer crashed. My HD died and I got it replaced and I liked to be able to play the game. But, when I go to my order page, there's no option to download the game.

RPI-Fan 06-11-2006 10:06 AM

Ok, so I need some tactics help:

First off, I'm playing as Tours in the French National League (3rd level out of 4) in a fictional universe, and we've finished well into the top half of the table each of our first three years, but only this season did we challenge for promotion (we fellshort).

Prior to last year (our third season), I purchased Pierre Hatton, who was on a 4th Division side that just got promoted. He blossomed throughout the season with me and this is what he looks like now:

Overall, it seems to me that, at this level, he is a prototype box-to-box midfielder. My problem is, I've never had a midfielder like this before. I've always used an attacking guy, and a defending guy. Hatton has typically been playing in an AMC role, and he's done quite well (as shown by his stats), but I feel I'm reigning him in to much.

What is a good tactic to use to exploit a box-to-box guy like this? What are good team and individual instructions to use?

Thanks!
~rpi-fan

ice4277 06-11-2006 10:19 AM

Interesting guy. His ratings are much higher than I would think you would normally find at that level of competition.

I would keep him either in the center of midfield, or 'in the hole', but maybe give him a free role?

Alternatively, if he is a truly good with defensive duties as well, you could play him in a DM position, with lots of forward runs and dribbling with the ball. This probably would tire him out by the end of the year though.

See, I played in "in the hole" most of this year and while he gave good numbers and performance, he wasn't on the ball as much as I'd like.

I think I'm going to try your DM suggestion.

tanglewood 06-11-2006 10:26 AM

I agree, play him at DM, with forward runs and a high attacking mentallity but also with high pressing. When you don't have the ball he'll sit infront of your back four and close down the opposition and when you win possesion he'll bomb forward.

tanglewood 06-11-2006 10:29 AM

dola

Alternatively, you could use him in total football-esque way and play him as an advanced ballwinner. Keep him behind the front two in the AM slot, but with hard tackling and high pressing. The idea being he can win you possesion in the opposition half and then set up quick attacks on the break.

RPI-Fan 06-11-2006 10:55 AM

...and in our first friendly of the '08-09 season, Hatton in his new role, chasing a ball in the offensive half, goes down in a non-contact play with a torn calf muscle. 3-5 months. Boooo! At least he won't miss TOO much of our campaign.

Coffee Warlord 06-12-2006 05:43 PM

Well. Here's a little "check this out" for you, SI guys.

My money grubbing whiny little bitch of a player is demanding a new contract, and states such publically. Okay, no big deal. He is underpaid anyway. We respond that we'll look into it soon.

Go to offer him a contract....he informs me he is not interested in a new contract at this time.

Marc Vaughan 06-12-2006 05:52 PM

Coffee Warlord - Its a text error, simply put he's been underpaid for a while and now feels its best to move on rather than put up with potentially a similar situation in the future, I'll look into fixing it tomorrow.

Coffee Warlord 06-12-2006 05:56 PM

Ahhhh. Makes sense.

Whiney little fucker. :) Before me he was NOTHING!

RPI-Fan 06-15-2006 06:43 PM

So what qualities do you guys think is good to have for a very, very uptempo team with short passing?

I have great central midfielders and think I can run this system. Also, what formation is good for it?

I am at the 3rd Division in France and think I should be able to just run other teams off the pitch with my skill in the midfield. How do I best use it?

rexallllsc 06-15-2006 06:47 PM

Ah, I love this game. Just picked up Anton Ferdinand (getting beat pretty often) and Darijo Srna (looks good at times, invisible at others).

Love it.

aran 06-15-2006 07:40 PM

How do I make subs during a game?

You think it'd be fairly obvious where to do it, but I just can't find it...

SirFozzie 06-15-2006 07:44 PM

click on your team tactics screen, and on that screen, click and hold on the number of the player you want to sub in, drag it to the player you want to sub out, and release.

vex 06-15-2006 07:49 PM

And your team tactics is at the bottom left of the screen, btw.

aran 06-15-2006 07:52 PM

What "team tactics screen"? "Formation" is the closest thing I see to that, and there's no listing of available subs there.

*feels dumb*

aran 06-15-2006 07:54 PM

dola,

oops....Yeah, i'm looking around the tactics screen and there's nothing happening when I drag subs numbers over whom I want them to replace.

Could it be the skin I'm using?

aran 06-15-2006 07:57 PM

Ok. Found it.

Tactics -> Detailed Tactics

then you have to wait a bit before you can actually get to the screen.

Thanks. :)

Yeah, that can change things around. I tried the iTunes and Hellenic skins after using Aurora Flow Blue for a long time and just couldn't get used to it.

Butter 06-16-2006 07:26 AM

Any chance that there could be a couple more features added to the player search? When I play in the lower leagues, I find it helpful to be able to search my own country's higher leagues' reserve teams to find players they might be willing to loan. Often times, the reserve players are not marked with the "LOA" tag. Any way to make a filter that can search for players by league, or whether players are on senior / reserve clubs?

MARC HELP

I just put some new RAM in my laptop and Im getting a problemn when I start WWSM digital DL version. It says:

This program is not free. Its an evaluation version of copyrighted software. If you use it beyond the evaluation version , you are expected to register it with the author....etc.

What do I do?

Flasch186 06-16-2006 01:05 PM

I called DR and they said they would email me a new Key. Which is quite redeeming considering the bad taste I have for them anyways....

What I dont get is why would upgrading RAM cause that?

SunDevil 06-16-2006 01:32 PM

If you look in the SI support forums, you will find some threads about people upgrading their computers and running into this issue. First 5 pages I think.

hmm, i did a search of the forums and only found one that had to do with CM but perhaps I did something wrong....

BTW, Im caling DR again, the email never got here.

Flasch186 06-16-2006 02:43 PM

DOLA

I just got off the phone with Eugene over at DR and he walked me through how to give him the Hardware fingerprint and then sent me an email with the key....

What is surprising is that the first Cust. Rep. didnt do anything about the hardware fingerprint so she couldnt have gotten me a new key. I could've been waiting forever.

If you need to call Dr I reccomend asking for Eugene, he is fresh.

back on the late goal thing:

GOAL

45:30 into the ET of the first half Juventus put one in on me....so whoever said that they rarely see that, I see it a ton.

Pumpy Tudors 06-16-2006 08:31 PM

After a couple of seasons of "close but no cigar", I have led Cheltenham out of League One and into the Championship. We needed a win on the final match day of the season (and some help from QPR, so I was watching the out-of-town scoreboard), and we got a 1-0 victory. Hammertime and the boys get to take their game to another level next season, and I'm a hero in Cheltenham right now. :)

Goals happen late all the time. Let's assume the last 5 minutes + 2 minutes of stoppage time each game. So that means 15-20% +/- are late goals. If there are 2.5 goals per game that mean you WOULD expect a late goal every other game give or take.

And what Marc said are true -- conditions favor late goals over early ones, but it's certainly not coded into the engine.
