Funny.

Also, Dutch- great picture. The only thing I would say is that 54 kindof fades into the background and I'd try to sharpen him up. How, I couldn't say, though. Otherwise, it looks gorgeous- like the type of shot you'd see in a newspaper or magazine.

Seriously?? This is the best photo ever, I wonder who was the least high.

Ramzavail 08-21-2014 11:03 AM

oh that's a great picture. That was on my desktop for a while. Who do you think tried to snort the first base line first?

and the cameo by Frank Cashen in the back makes for a pretty great Mets fan desktop picture.

Depending on your browser, you can right click on the image and select 'Open image in new tab' and on the new tab the image should be scaled down to fit your browser.

That letter is pretty awesome "Hey, did you ever think about playing pro football? If so, we'd like you to come play with us.....if you don't have anything better to do."

Simmons posted about it at the Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland. Just google 'Tyson Strawberry Gooden' or look for it on ebay.

molson 09-15-2014 10:52 PM

Awesome letter. It was sent a few weeks after the 1943 draft, which contained 32 rounds. But teams were still having trouble filling rosters, with the war going on. They must have sent out tons of these letters.
