These are great, thanks so much for doing things! I'm still trying to get things figured out. I'm trying to start in 1976, with a 28_6_16 setup. Looks great, but I want to make some changes, and I'm having trouble. I want to change the Arizona Cardinals to the St. Louis Cardinals. That seems like it should be simple -- I went into default_teams, took a row for St. Louis Cardinals from the 26_6_14 rows, pasted it in place of the 28_6_16 row for Arizona, changed the first couple columns to 28_6_16 and the teamID to 1. But how does the game account for some rows having two TEAMNAME fields? It looks like teams with two names in the city have an extra semicolon between them. You'd think that would throw off the CSV, and it seems to when I change it. I'm also trying to make the standings read as "N.Y. Jets" and "N.Y. Giants" instead of "New York J" and "New York G" but I get errors when I make these changes.

Never mind, I think I figured it out. When I opened the file in OpenOffice, it was counting spaces as delimiters. Opening it in notepad instead got it right, without having to worry about converting. I have St. Louis working properly instead of Arizona now. And in the standings it says N.Y. Jets and N.Y. Giants, but there are times when it calls them N.Y. Jets Jets and N.Y. Giants Giants. That looks pretty dumb, but I hate seeing "New York J" so much that I'm not sure.

In the LEAGUE OVERVIEW Screen
Can the Conference Names be changed?

AFC E to AFC EAST

Probably a column width issue. Otherwise I'd expect AC there.

It's AFC E etc. there now, can't be edited to East?

It'd be AC and not AFC if it weren't using your changes.

You can change Conferences but not the but not the Divisions so it’s not taking all the changes on that screen.

Not sure how to state this more clearly. It changed the division names. They no longer are AC E, AC W, etc. They're AFC E, AFC W, etc. It's a truncation of your changes.

That’s exactly what I just stated, if you can’t see it, it’s the same difference.

You said it's NOT taking your changes, did you not? It IS taking your changes. It changed AC to AFC, but it's truncated. Are you suggesting something else???

Yes now, any way to untruncate it so the entire Divison name is showing also instead of just an E, W, N or S?

As difficult as this exchange was...did anyone figure out how to change division names so they look like "AFC East" and so on? I've changed "AC" and "NC" to "AFC" and "NFC" in two different files, and it's not changing in the game. And I don't see anyplace else I should change it.

I mean, I guess if you made the text super small it's possible that all the characters would fit on that screen. ;)

It has been so long that I have no idea which file(s) I changed to make it work, but mine says "AFC East", "NFC South", etc. on the standings screen, but the league overview screen is just AFC E, NFC S, etc. Five characters is the max on that screen. (Again, at least with my font choice/size. No interest in making it smaller just to see if I can see the full division names on that one screen.)

Well this is weird. I just looked at it again and the division names are in the way they are supposed to be now. I thought they weren't because when you create a game, the screen where you choose your team was still calling it AC East. But then I started playing around with fonts, and now even that screen is named correctly, no matter what font I choose.

Passacaglia 02-29-2024 01:03 PM

But for the record, the smallest you can make the font is 10, and even then, it still makes it "AFC E" in the league overview.

So, I finally got off my old man ass and worked on finishing a project I began a long time ago. I delayed some as I wanted to see what Jim's next move could be and didn't want to get to involved and have to change things but being old, retired (twice), tired of the politcal idiocy displayed all over the place and the recurring frigging medicare advantage adds I jumped back in to numb my brain.

I am attaching a zip file with 140+ logos for each of the 32 NFL teams to cover them from 1960-2024. No helmets, just logos. I tried to be true to what they are/were and hope for anyone interested they add something to their game.

Example: The pic just shows the Rams history. the pic name is created to represent the team number as listed in game in a 32 team schedule, then the year ranges used. i.e., team26_60_71 is the logos the Rams used from 1960 thru 1971.

To use these as provided here you will need to go in game and change the team logos there. Maybe later I will do a subset that you can just plug in for each year but not right now.

Any issues let me know but remember, I do this for fun, am not a grpahic artist but did sleep in a Holiday Inn Express once.

NawlinsFan 10-24-2024 03:45 PM

FYI - I have structured a 30 NFL team format using 1995 as the base. Plan to use these logos and start in 1960 with the 30_6_16 format. Then in 1970 will begin to use Nilidors historical player files and continue on.

As I do I may fool around with fake logos for those teams that didn't exist in the 60's and 70's just to add to the flavor.

NawlinsFan 11-01-2024 02:45 PM

Adding this to the first post. Why? Well, why not!

NawlinsFan 11-01-2024 02:59 PM

FYI - I also updated the NFL logo set in the first post. It now includes logos covering 60-24 in all 3 of the ingame sizes. Note: You will have to rename them to match/replace those ingame.

I don't think its possible on the League Overview Screen

Hey Nawlins, just a suggestion, take it however you like.

In the helmet logos you posted here, FOF 09 Graphics - Front Office Football Central I love the 1977 version because when I go to a team's schedule page, it looks really sleek:

For this most recent set, you pretty much just get a bunch of facemasks. I think the 1977 set looks better in this view because you put the team name on top, so the picture part is centered on the bottom 3/4 of the image, which puts the logo part of the helmet right where it needs to be for the part of the image pulled from this view to work.

Just an FYI, I'm not asking you to do anything for me because a) I'm starting a career in 1976 so I'm going to use these logos and not the 1960s logos, and b) I don't look at this view very often anyway. Just thought I'd let you know in case you feel like changing it at all.

Thanks! Will take a look at it in time. Working on an alternate universe league format for the "other" football game right now. I spend a lot of time trying to get the visuals down so that most of the pages look well. The file format makes its a bit of a challenge but doable.

Funny how this is, how some people (myself very much included) care about how a game looks. I mean, of course I value FOF for its realistic simulation, how it is laid out, and how it plays. But I want it to look good, too.

So my thanks to Passacaglia for pointing out that helmet set because it does indeed look "sleek" in that schedule array. But above all, thank you, Nawlins, for this work. You made the game even better for me.

One trick that I follow is to replace all the state and country flags with the Solecismic logo. Conveniently, there is a suitably sized file in the main folder named Solecismic150.bmp. So I copy that over all 153 flags, one by one. That's how much I care about this excellent game looking good.

Heh, this portion of the Argentinian flag always reminds me of CBS Sunday Morning. Well, anybody in my FOF universe from Argentina will play under the FOF flag instead! :)

It's a personal taste thing for me. I find that the game engine and resulting play and data are primary but the display also draws you in. Doesn't have to be over the top, just clean, representative and compliments the overall game.
