I was barely interested in the acolyte after watching two episodes and I tried to watch the third and it just is not my cup of tea. I’m excited for the Mandalorian movie though

People need to understand that storytellers don't owe you anything. Now, the reverse is also true, but storytellers have no obligation to make you happy with content or timing or anything else.

Well, Disney does owe us something. They seem to be cancelling series left and right, and the content is not showing up in anywhere near the quantity that has been announced. Yet the subscription pricing keeps going up and up.

Can’t you substitute any profession or service in place of storytellers and say the same thing? Uber drivers, restaurants, landscapers, fashion designers, healthcare, etc.

Politicians?

Yes, Disney owes us what we are promised explicitly and implicitly, but they don't owe us anything in terms of specific stories. Now we don't owe them anything either and can freely choose to watch or not, subscribe or not.

It's a business relationship that too many people see as a betrayal of values. The stories don't belong to the consumer and there's no moral need to provide stories that appeal to anyone in particular.

Exactly. It's a business relationship and you can walk away any time you aren't satisfied, but they don't have an obligation to provide the product to your specifications.

Andor Season 2 trailer is out. I'm really excited for it to come out!

Honolulu_Blue 02-24-2025 06:31 PM

Me, too!

I never re-watch shows because there’s more stuff out there that I want to watch than I have time for, but I will re-watch the first season of Andor for the maximum effect.

Honolulu_Blue 02-24-2025 06:34 PM

It’s been a good run for me TV-wise so far this year. I didn’t watch Season 2 of Squid Games until this year. Then there’s been Severance, Invincible, I got into the Harley Quinn cartoon, which is delightful, I’ve been enjoying “Common Side Effects” on Max (another animated series), Yellowjackets is back and upcoming there’s Daredevil, Wheel of Time, Andor and more!

Is that good? I really liked Scavenger's Reign.

I actually just started and finished watching Andor and for me it's the best non-animated piece of Star Wars content on the small screen, just in front of the first couple of seasons of The Mandalorian. It's like they gave the keys to talented creative adults and good stuff happened.

Yes! I've really enjoyed it so far. It's a very interesting premise and pretty funny at parts - I love the two FBI agents. I would give it a try. I, too, loved Scavenger's Reign and you can see some of its DNA in the show.

Correct! It's doing something very different than anything else Star Wars TV is doing. As much as I loved the first two seasons of Mandalorian, Andor was playing in an entire league.

To me, it's better than most Star Wars movies.

I literally jumped off my couch and pumped my fist in the air after Andy Serkis said: "Never more than twelve..."

It's really for Star Wars fans who grew up and still love Star Wars, but are interested in more complex and interesting stories within that universe. I still love and have room in my heart for space wizards and armor-clad bounty hunters and all of that, but I'm 51 years old and generally like more adult-focused stories and shows.
