Sure

Danny 05-12-2009 08:26 PM

Round 1 is not the time to get fancy and there is a clearcut person on the board right now.

1.10 Muhammad, Religious Leader (Current Saudi Arabia is where he was born)

Lathum 05-12-2009 08:26 PM

did Galaril send a list?

I only ask because I'll be ready whenever the time comes

Barkeep49 05-12-2009 08:28 PM

Danny good value at the end of the first round. I will admit I'd never have thought we'd get 2 Saudi Arabia picks in round 1.

Abe Sargent 05-12-2009 08:28 PM

Agreed, solid pick Danny

larrymcg421 05-12-2009 08:29 PM

Galaril picks:

1.11 - Abraham Lincoln, Leader/Ruler, United States, Pre-20th

Coffee Warlord 05-12-2009 08:30 PM

I knew we were gonna get him soon. Nice one. And there goes a whole boatload of worthy American leaders off the board.

Abe Sargent 05-12-2009 08:32 PM

I honestly don;t think any other Americans deserve to be Ruler/Leader except Lincoln, in a worldwide all history draft

Lathum 05-12-2009 08:34 PM

1.12- Civil Rights- Nelson Mandela- South Africa- say what you want about MLK, he never spent 27 years in prison ( allthought I am sure he would have)

2.1- Artist-Leonardo Da Vinci- Italy- does it really need an explination?

Coffee Warlord 05-12-2009 08:35 PM

Son of a bitch. There go TWO on my shortlist. Jerk. :)

FDR?

Abe Sargent 05-12-2009 08:35 PM

Totally like the Mandela pick. Major props there and I agree, more valuable than MLK. Da Vinci is solid too. Good value here.

:D

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 08:38 PM

eh - i debated mandela vs. MLK actually, but given the strategic pick of MLK in addition to the # of people and the years of oppression overcome i think MLK stacks up quite well to Mandela. Mandela was the only other person I would have considered for that category.

With the way things are shaping up, I'm thinking the Pre-20th/Post-20th is going to be more of a challenge than people think. As such I think others might deserve consideration.

larrymcg421 05-12-2009 08:39 PM

Galaril picks:

2.2 - Dwight D. Eisenhower, Army Chief, United States, 20th

nope. he just got shot and killed for it.

MrDNA 05-12-2009 08:47 PM

Adam Smith is a GREAT pick in a weak category - Red Baron and MLK as well, if to a lesser extent.

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 08:49 PM

i'm ready to go assuming the person in front of me doesn't pick my other choice i had in mind

This is why I was suprised you went Smith over Keynes. Keynes gave you Post 20th

Danny 05-12-2009 08:50 PM

2.3 Mahatma Ghandi, Civil Rights Leader (India)

Danny 05-12-2009 08:51 PM

Ghandi can fill a 20th century spot right?

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 08:51 PM

thank you sir, for not taking my pick

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 08:52 PM

ohhh i gotta wait for NTN

Coffee Warlord 05-12-2009 08:57 PM

Bah. Ghandi was MINE!

Sure, he was alive during both time periods.

Barkeep49 05-12-2009 09:30 PM

I think Ghandi King, and Mandela are 1 1A 1AA of the civil rights category, in some order. All three are absolutely fabulous picks.

Danny 05-12-2009 09:32 PM

I was hoping Ghandi would fall.

I think the name Adam Smith is a better voting appeal than Keynes. I also have roughly sketched out which categories I intend to take from which time period and could afford that pick.

Abe Sargent 05-12-2009 09:39 PM

Fair enough

Barkeep49 05-12-2009 09:49 PM

Don't get me wrong, I think you're right that Keynes, as 20th century, deserves consideration.

+1 here too, though I'd put King 1 and Ghandi 1A.

Ayup, those were the exact 3 I had jotted down for early possibilities when I made a quick list. Now it gets much harder on that one.

Lathum 05-12-2009 09:59 PM

King was gonna be my choice but obviously I had to take Mandela instead.

Abe Sargent 05-12-2009 10:47 PM

There is a guy who I honestly feel was one of the ten most important and influential people of the 20th century, but no one knows who he is. It will be interesting to see if any of you agree.

Danny 05-12-2009 10:52 PM

Your dungeon game was good, but not that good Abe

Abe Sargent 05-12-2009 10:54 PM

Heh. I loves you too Danny. The person I am thinking of has a top notch resume but is a bit esoteric and probably not a name most know. Even if a few did, taking him would not help my nation get votes, you know?

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 11:01 PM

grrrr - ntn was here and now he's gone

Abe Sargent 05-12-2009 11:03 PM

I saw too

ntndeacon 05-12-2009 11:06 PM

2.4 Karl Marx-Economist-Germany-Pre 20th century

Izulde 05-12-2009 11:11 PM

Very nicely done!

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 11:11 PM

assface!!!!!

that was gonna be my pick next!!!

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 11:11 PM

literally

Nicely done. I was looking at the exact same thing.

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 11:13 PM

now i need time to come up with something else *sighs*

Abe Sargent 05-12-2009 11:13 PM

You didn;t have a backup? Come on now

Izulde 05-12-2009 11:15 PM

I just hope DT and CW don't take my next pick. :p

DaddyTorgo 05-12-2009 11:16 PM

point of fact - adam smith was actually scottish
