I wouldn't usually photo meme in this thread but given our recent discussion, this seemed more appropriate than usual :D

At look at some of the first major websites when they rolled out in the mid-late 1990s. I remember signing up in 1996 (netcom or something like tha) and these certainly brought back memories.

We have a Magnolia tree in the back yard, that blooms for about a week, then drops it flowers all over the ground. I thought our puppy looked good laying in them :)

That is a good looking dog DougW. I wonder if you can find him in the snow though.

Yeah, lol. I spose he is really white. And smart and stubborn .. and REALLY fast haha. A couple times he's slipped out the door, and he's in the next town before it closes :) |
Doug, that is a very nice photo. The white dog with pink/white blossoms on a really green grass with the lighting makes it.
It is amazing, to me, to see such grass esp. this early in the year. We are still in winter (no leaves yet) and in an extreme drought (with significant watering restrictions), so we'll not have any green grass this year. |

I don't like the shadows :(. It's actually much brighter "head on", but I couldn't get away from them. The flowers fall under the tree, and under the tree is shadows haha. And I'm a bit surprised at the yard this year. I put time in it, and usually have nice color, but this year it does seem "greener" so far. We've already mowed twice, and about a month ago it was snowing. Michigan is a crazy state that way. |
I think that's a great pic, personally, and I think the interplay of the light and shadows allows the details of the pictorial elements to stand out.

Another back yard picture. This one with my son Jake, and his pal pretending to eat the fine spread they made, and named .. "Tri-ang-ee". Kids r fun.

Great pics, Doug.

I missed all the breakdown lane discussion, but since I basically started it, I'll just say that if someone was flashing their lights and had emergency signal on, I would stay out of their way. I think that's all that's necessary.

Yep, that's a pretty good explanation. Planes fly around with different people looking for problems. Typically, a plane will have a handful of issues. In aviationland, any item that doesn't work as it should, or in this case, damaged in some way is kept track of in the aircraft logbook. There is a book on the plane and maintenance keeps a record as well. Some problems are ok to continue, some are not, most have some limits on how long they can be like that before needing to be fixed. In this case the problem looks pretty major and would be reported by every crew who took the plane, causing possible delays, and headache for maintenance flight after flight. So they left a note for the FO and any ground workers who might report the damage, to prevent it from causing problems. I've never seen actual words written on the plane. Usually it's just circled, or noted more subtlety to give the crew the knowledge that it's been taken care of. |
I guess "Percentage of wing surface needed" is 95% in the MEL. :D

I doubt that was left for the crew or any maintenance people. They have access to the logbook. Even if it was, if I saw that on my airplane, writing or not, I'd still look it up in the maintenance log. That is most definitely a smartass tired of passengers asking about the "hole in the wing."
|
Quote:
So, PM, even so, would you as the pilot/co-pilot still be reporting that in the maintenance/log book? |
Quote:
Maybe and maybe not. Snowman is probably right that someone wrote that on there so the passengers would quit asking why the plane is falling apart and if it's safe. Depending on the amount of damage there are usually papers from the manufacturer giving specific direction on how much can be missing or what the damage limits are. If that's not in there you probably find yourself calling just to find out what the limitations are. |
