Sunday's date is a rare palindrome that hasn't happened in over 900 years

I get what they're getting at, but I'm pretty sure Sunday's date hasn't happened like, ever.

Somewhat related to above post. Assuming they gave her fair warning, I'm okay with this. Won't work here though.

Shocking moment shopper is dragged from Chinese supermarket 'after she REFUSED to wear face mask' | Daily Mail Online
Quote:

A woman was dragged out of a Chinese supermarket and pinned to the ground after allegedly refusing to wear a face mask while the country deals with the coronavirus outbreak.

Mobile phone footage from Wednesday shows the shopper, identified only by her surname Qiu, resisting two uniformed officers as they haul her down the aisle of Space supermarket in Shenzen, in south China's Guangdong province.

The local government, responsible for some 113million inhabitants, announced a province-wide mask order effective on January 26, making it a punishable offence to be in a public space without a surgical mask.

NobodyHere 02-02-2020 03:04 PM

Everything I've read says that regular surgical masks does nothing against the coronavirus so I'm definitely NOT okay with that.

I've read that its minimum vs nothing. It may help in incidental contact. I read one article that said it may help reduce particulates coming from the infected etc. So if it even helps a little (and assuming she was given fair warning) and it lowers concern from your fellow citizens in a heighten state of alert, why not.

NobodyHere 02-02-2020 10:05 PM

Because you're probably going to cause more harm someone by tackling them and dragging them out of the store than the damage caused by not wearing a mask.

A few people have mentioned that some folks in their neighborhoods not following the social distancing guidelines. Evidently, this has riled up many in the Tampa/St Pete area to the point that law enforcement is getting hundreds of calls. Stay inside, waste of law enforcement time and all that serious stuff is being put to one side here. That is for the other thread.

A few of the strange bits from the articles I have seen.

Quote:

Hillsborough County deputies arrived at the house in the Lake Magdalene area Friday night to find a crowd of 15 gathered around the wrestling ring in the front yard. Some were wearing costumes.

Quote:

They called because a friend “checked in” on Facebook at a nightclub on Gunn Highway and, according to a summary of one call to the Hillsborough sheriff, because of a “neighbor walking around outside not following quarantine while roommate posts nude pics at closed state parks."

Quote:

One St. Pete man posted a night-vision security video on YouTube of what appeared to be three teenage girls playfully cutting through his back yard. He noted they were not social distancing.

And my personal favorite one.

Quote:

In a Facebook group for Gulfport residents, one member Photoshopped a swastika flag onto the cute, pastel bungalow of another resident. They were trying to compare people telling on their neighbors for poor social distancing habits to those who turned their neighbors in to the Gestapo during World War II.

Lackawanna woman died as she lived: hating Tom Brady

Loved the Yankees, LeBron James, smoking millions of cigarettes and playing Candy Crush/Farmville? Sounds like a real winner.

(Seriously, thank goodness for the daughter the media is picking up on the Tom Brady angle. Who decides to list 5 things they want their mother remembered for and #2 is "She loved to smoke. She smoked millions of cigarettes.")

People want to be remembered for who they are, if that was a specific trait that defined her then whats the problem?

My Grandmother was an unbelievable skinflint, and more than one person talked about it at length during the memorial. Same same.
