This was the worst season ever. I used to like AI, but it's time for it to die.

That's a testament to the strength of that song that someone can sing it that badly and get that kind of unwarranted reaction. Wow.

He sounded about the same per my wife, except this time he didn't run out of breath during the song. She didn't like either performance.

Loved the David Cook - ZZ Top performance. Best pairing of the night, IMO.

Carrie's performance was awesome and was one of her first songs that Mrs. E and I both liked the first time we heard it (last night.)

She did, sort of. Rather, at one point the camera was very briefly showing too much up her thigh and quickly switched angles. The rest of the performance, they were more careful about the camera angles.

I'm not a contrarian. I always give my honest opinion on things. In fact, that's the reason why I look like an ass so much, so I'm definitely not trying to be cool. :)

Last night on the local FOX news just after the show, they covered the show extensively since's he's from the KC metro area. The idiotic female anchor declared David Cook's win on Idol to the Royals winning the World Series or the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl.

Yeah, ummmm............

Yeah, ummmm............

Exactly - ludicrous because those other things probably won't ever happen again.

this was just all kinds of awesome.

For some people, probably. Maybe not numbers wise, but I'm sure there a quite a few people that had that same type of feeling/passion in wanting Cook to win and following his probably since January as they would have wanted a sports team to win.

Which one was that? Fantasia or The obese guy?

Ok, I looked. Yeah, Fantasia was pretty annoying, and I don't even remember Diana DiGarmo, but at least Jennifer Hudson came out of that season.

I assume you mean Studdard? That was 2..

3 was the train wreck with John Stephen, Fantasia, Digarmo, Trias. Although, I guess Jennifer Hudson came out of it, but at the time she was annoying. I think she sang Over the Rainbow like 3 times...

What's even worse is that he was doing so in a Mets uniform!

His voice sounded like there was some fluid in his throat. He did say afterward he was sick.

WTF was with those glasses? I thought the glasses that De Niro was wearing at the end of Casino were big, but holy crap. What, the store was all out of welder masks?

Yeah, I think he tries to deny Mays ever went back to the Mets to this day. :p

I agree with you guys on the Carrie Underwear, um Underwood, performance. I'm normally not a huge fan of hers, but she did pretty well (the outfit didn't hurt either). All-in-all, I really like the style of the finale, even though it was 2 hours. Granted, I had Tivo'd it so I could fast forward the non-interesting performances. Still, there were about 4-5 that were somewhat interesting and well performed (Hero duet, ZZ Top+Cook, One Republic+Archie, Carrie..).

I didn't watch it except when Ms.Path called me in to see the Pips thing which I thought was pretty funny. Was glad Cook won it but I think I'm done with AI after this season.

American Idol is adding a 4th judge for next year, songwriter Kara DioGuardi.

Paula-- rawr!

Crim 08-25-2008 08:12 PM

I wonder if this might be a year-in-advance exit strategy for the producers to axe Paula. Take a year letting the audience get used to/fall in love with the new chick, and use the inevitable Paula ridiculousness to cut her loose after this upcoming season, leaving Simon, Randy, and Kara for season 9.
