Meat Baby looks straight out of a Perry Bible Fellowship comic.

A few MIT students strapped a camera to a weather balloon. The camera was in a foam beverage container with hand warmers to keep it warm and a cell phone that they could use to do a GPS track on it. They expected it to go up and the balloon to burst and fall back to earth with a parachute. They did it all for $150.

Everything worked good and one of the pics they got back.

That's pretty impressive.
