Someone needs to save Danny or we need to bump to a new page where someone who knows top of the page protocol actually follows through...

Surely the argument is that the letters are the same color, no?

Nope, the squares. I really can't see it, they look like 2 totally different colors of grey.

Autumn 01-30-2012 02:51 PM

No, the squares are. WE just covered this in psychology class last week actually. We perceive them as differently in the context, but if you could remove the squares and compare them you'd see they're the same.

Rizon 01-30-2012 02:51 PM

wow, holy shit, they really ARE the same color WTF

BTW I printed the picture out and cut the squares out and compared them side-by-side. They are literally the same color.

The squares are the same color. An explanation can be found on the website of the guy who created the image -

Butter 01-30-2012 03:04 PM

It all has to do with shadow, perspective, and context, and the expectations that the brain has for colors that are in shadow. National Geographic Channel had a 3 episode series based on shit like this... forget what it was called. But yes, they are the same color.

That link has MIT in it. So it's automatically over my head.

It's the same reason that you recognize and perceive an apple as red (well, a red one), no matter how the lighting changes. As you take the apple from a dark room to outdoors, or look at one lit side or one shadowed side, you still perceive the color as red even though the actual color, if you isolated it, would vary wildly.

I'm really glad I fell for that, that's great.

The intersections of the crosses are the same color

Grover 01-30-2012 06:22 PM

As if these things aren't ridiculous enough, being red-green colorblind probably doesn't help me out much.

last fall, National Geographic had a 3-episode show call Brain Games that had all kinds of these things (including a variation on the same color thing). If you get a chance, I highly recommend it and my kids enjoyed it as much as us grownups

Either it's just a tight fitting pair of pants, or there appears to be scary things going on inside that diaper.

Autumn 01-31-2012 11:48 AM

Or a cloth diaper.

My son came out with BOTH legs like that (and he was breech, so he had to be a c-section). They put him on the weighing table and his legs were up in the air, spread apart.

Pretty sure he can still get his feet behind his head.

While I know exactly what you mean by this, I can't help but picture this women having you lie back on a couch and ask "So...what is your hand feeling?"

Is it the shadow of a raptor's head at the back right? That's all I could think of.

You just have to look at it for a while, concentrate on the blinking letters in the back, you'll see it.
