They get paid based on how many people watch, not where a show ranked for the week. If this is indeed the smallest number of viewers for a new episode, they are nervous. |
That picture appears to be a map of all of the other stations/hatches. That circle at the bottom when magnified, looks like it says "I here", as in "you are here". If my assumption is correct, one can only guess that all of that writing next to the hatches identifys what study was going on at each hatch or its "special functions".
Just guessing though. |

Did you highlight the last part of my thread? |

Wel, of course that's how they get paid. 9th most watched show of the week = a shitload of viewers. ABC is not nervous. You want to know why last week was the smallest number of viewers for a new episode? Two words: American. Idol. It's that simple. The writers/directors/producers of Lost can't be blamed for America's fascination with reality TV crap like that. It's what the people like. It's very possible that some of the interest in the show is waning, it happens, but I don't think it's happening at an alarming rate. 9th overall for the week when going head-to-head against the most watched show on primetime is, uh, not too shabby. The sky is not falling, Chicken Littles... ;) |

When their viewership falls steadily, they are nervous. They might not be shocked or concerned about last week, but the ratings have been trending down all season, without facing idol. When viewership goes down 40-60%, so does revenue. If you don't think they are concerned about that, you are delusional. |
got it. set phasers to geek.

Well, I believe that Season 1 was going up against American Idol at this time last year as well (i'm not certain so feel free to correct me). And if the last two weeks are any indication, it's performing much worse against AI then it did last year. It's not like they're going to cancel the show for coming in 9th place, but if they continue to bring in only 16M viewers that seems like a big dropoff. |
Quote:
No, IIRC, AI and Lost were switching times back and forth. I don't think the network execs from both sides wanted them going on at the same time. I am not sure who established their time first, but what I mean is that ABC would say, "OK Lost will be at 9PM next Wednesday" and Fox would put AI on at 8PM that Wednesday. I don't remember either of them being on at the same time, just one after the other. Now, NBC has joined and put L&O at the same time slot, so you have 3 high rated shows on at the same time. |

Site says no hotlinking now...got another link? |

enter tubgirl |
Quote:
Ahh, thaks for the clarification. In that case HB has a valid point. Be interesting to see how the show does when AI doesn't go up against it (see if it rebounds). |
Quote:
Yes, it says no hotlinking, but then what does it say to do...it gives you a site to go to (SFW) and it has the picture I am talking about/posted. |

If I have the link hidden and they change it to tub girl or goatse, do I still get the box? |

They seem to think the thing at the top says "Arrow." I was wondering whether it said "Arron."
|
Quote:
I think they are all names of the station/symbols, and although the w may look like an N, I think it is most likely "arrow" not "arron" |
Quote:
Wow. Without giving away any spoilers, it looks like there is a lot of pertinent information around the bottom-center of that picture. |
Quote:
Whatever you say geekboy... :p I say it's more interesting if it's Arron, even though that's not really a common spelling of the name. :) |

I can't really tell what it says, is that latin? Can you enlarge it? |
Wow - great episode - 4 huge mark-out moments for me:
(1) John is inspecting a house for...Nadia? Sayid's Nadia? (2) WTF is the writing on the door for? Did Desmond do that? (3) Wow! A supplies drop? Why didn't anyone see/hear a plane? (4) Henry Gale is.....not Henry Gale. You are SO fucked now, dude. |
Toddzilla, I believe you are correct on #1.

meh? that episode was brilliant.

Whoever said the thing about Hurley episodes bogging down the show was definetly spot on. Quite a boring episode.
|
I think I was watching a different episode, because I loved it.
|
Quote:
I agree, I thought it was pretty damn good also. Just ignore the skeptics, everything sucks. "This is nothing like season 1. How could two crazy people end up on the same plane?" (10 months ago) "Locke was in a wheelchair and can walk now! That rocked!" We may need to start a new thread that actually discusses the show instead of why the same people aren't going to watch anymore and still manage to come back week after week and tell how they aren't going to watch anymore. |

Countdown until rexalllsc explains all the negatives of last night's show. |
I didn't hate tonights show, I just thought following last weeks they could've done a little more w/ "Henry Gale" and such.
|
Quote:
I wasn't calling you specifically. (If you were even responding to me) I just get fed up with the posts about how different the show is now. Last season's M.O. is the same as this season's. One character is centrally focused with flashbacks to their life previous to the crash and several side storylines are somewhat advanced. I think all the haters forget the 35 Jack epiosdes last season. |
I thought this was one of the better episodes of the season w/ (**SPOILERS FROM TONIGHT'S SHOW AHEAD, SO STOP IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT YET**) the imaginary friend angle, the possibility that the entire thing is in one of the character's minds (an internet favorite theory), dealing with mental health/lack of meds for an extended period of time, "Henry" revealing that he let the clock lapse and nothing happens, Hurley going apeshit on Sawyer, and then the Libby revelation at the end.
In fact, now that I think about it, I really liked tonight's episode. It also advanced the Jack/Locke divide, focussed in a little bit more on what Echo is doing (w/ Charlie helping him), and didn't even force us to listen to annoying Claire say anything about "my bay-bee!" |
