As you can see, Lorey had 700 receiving yards an 5 catchign TDs as well. That is a lot o yards from scrimmage. Wright hit 1000 yards, precisely and had a down year/ TE Walford was having a nice season, too bad his injury stopped him from finishing, that would have been nice. He led the team in TD catches in 13 games.

You can see we have a lot fewer picks this year. Baxter, Clifford, Tatum. Harrison all had a solid 8 pasdef. Don;t forget we had a lot of injuries in teh S and CB section of the team.

Team Awards:

Offensive MVP – OG Brandon Scherff – He was on his way to an All Pro season before his injury. He still finished with 33 KRB and 7 pancakes in 12 games. Good job Scherff!

Defensive MVP – LB Banda – First All Pro nod – 12- solo tackles, 27 assists, 4.5 sacks, 3 picks, 5 pasdef, 4 FF. 1 rec. He dud a great job and finally had he best season to date. Thanks buddy!

Special Teams MVP – CB Clifford He had 2 KR RET TDs What’s even weirder is he only had NIEN RETURNS ON THE SEASON! Normally Fisher is my primary returned, and he had one as well. In fact, Clifford is the only player with more than one KR TD this team.

Rookie of the Year – RB Lorey. This year was all about Lorey. And he was fine – 1580 and 12 is a fine rushing season. Add on 700 receiving yards and 5 rec TDS and it’s something good

Heart Award – DT Rex Raymond – 6 sacks as a 36/36 last man standing at the DT spot is great. He even had the 2nd most blocked passes for my team with 5. Dude was good!

Another Brown Out from the D Line. Three All Pros, a 6 sacks from Raymond. Even in a down year, we still had 42 sacks from those folks

Abe Sargent 12-01-2016 12:31 PM

I need to commit more to this challenge. I can’t be content getting my QB wins. I need him to set records. Right now, he’s more of a caretaker that hands the ball off and makes the safe pass. And that works. But… we need to get him fixed.

I need WR help.

After 6 years there are Arledge, Ryan. Newton, Luck, Goff, Dalton, Garoppolo,
It’s time to make some changes, I’m thinking…

I suppose so!

Abe Sargent 12-02-2016 08:48 PM

Meet our new Head Coach – Mickey Harrison – was head coach of GB and Chicago. Better than our previous at everything that matters save Young talent, where he’s about 25 or so (around 50 vs 70).

Meet our new Defensive Coordinator – Tyrus Savea, a 3-4 Eagle enthusiasts!

I need to change this up.

I select a new AC – Brain Chu, specialist with secondary

For a cast of 13.8 mill, I tag Stanton

The person with the most sacks in a career is Bruce Smith at 200. Stanton has 75 in the first five years. Most sacks in a game was Thomas with 7.0, until someone got 7.5 baby. (Horner) Horner has 100 sacks in 6 seasons.

Major Players on FA:

DT Rex Raymond
TE Hardy Downs
That’s it actually

Abe Sargent 12-02-2016 09:15 PM

Free Agency!

We are 7.2 mill under the cap. We are below the cap needed with our draft picks. We do have 45 players on our roster right now. So we need to figure out our roster:

Major players in final year of their deal –

TE Walford, DeValve
FL Wright, Hawkins
DT Logan
SS Joseph
LT Hannam, Ellison
P Emerson
C Graham, Rivers
DE Dunn and Stanton
CB Clifford
FS Baxter
K Crosby
LS Newsome

That is a lot of players. Mission critical players include Wright, Coleman

I cut Hawkins. He’s dropped to 46/46, and he’s too pricey.

I have a liot of players entering year 7 that have been with my first draft or that FA Class – Shon Coleman, Devalve, Emerson, Newsome, Dunn, DT Raymond, DE Horner, C Graham and QB Arledge. But it’s time to cut some of these players I’ve had with me the whole dynasty.

Good bye Devalve. I need that 2 mill.

I extend Emerson two more years. Newsom for vet min sal.

At the age of 32, Logan has dropped to 57/57. Even if I extend him by one year, and drop his cap hit this year by 2 mill, and just 6 mill next, that’s a lot for a guy who’s aging and dropping. Cutting Logan is the key to clearing up space on my team. But it permanently breaks up the band in a major way.

Now a couple of things. Logan is my defensive front leader, idolized, and ideal front fit in as a DT in the 3-4. So I don’t have to find a different guy for my team. But I need to resign a lot of players as you can see.

So I cut Logan.

I make offers to some RFAs:

RB Angus and Strickland
LCB Fiebelkorn and RCB Porter

I can resign these starters for either small bonuses, or very little increases in salary – C Graham, Coleman, SS Joseph. Coleman is 30. Graham is okay but not amazing, and Joseph ahas been disappointing but not sucky.

But they aren’t about this year, but future years. I go ahead and extend Coleman, I hold off on graham, there are a pair of good OCs in the draft, in case I wind up with one.

I move forward a week to see what FAs want

Last yeaer, LT HHannam was 28 KRB and 8 sacks allowed and 2 pacackes. He is rated in the high 40s these days, and has 56 rub, 69 pass, 0 str, and 47 end.

There is a guy, same age, in the FA< who would have the same cap hit this year, and if I extend Hannam would be 2 mill fewer. So I make an offer to Lt Donovan Smith for three years. I sign UFA QB Kelley

Abe Sargent 12-02-2016 09:34 PM

I need:

TEx3
Staring WR
WR
OG
Starting DT for 3-4
LB? I have Kirksey, Banda, Horton and Nelson. But the 3-4 Eagle often starts a LB in the DT spot.
CB
S

I have 47 players under contract right now. I have no 2nd rounder, but 9 total picks. So I can build the depth and middle of my roster.

I start with some interviews. DT first. WR Second. There are 4 stud Qbs in the in the draft. And another very good TE. I need to renovate my receivers

WR Sterling shepherd is a FA, and 64/63, but 7th eyar and wants 32 mill over 4 years. I could see myself making a play for Shepard if I didn’t have to resign Wright. The next best is 52/52 Antoniio Brown or Ralph Conley.

There are no major options at DT that I love. The best is DT Bernard Brandon. So I move Dunn to NT. He’s better than a lot of these bums.

Do I want to make a play for Wright, or save him for tag next year?Let;s hold off for now

I’m good for now on chasing FAs

Week 4 - Uh oh. We sign Smith yay! But….RB Zeke signed with the Steelers. Yuck I cut Hannam

Given the number of draft picks I have, I move to the Draft!

The 2022 NFL Amateur Draft!

There are a lot of players with nearly perfect bars – MLB Matt Black, QB Cote, DE Hastings,

Black will go 1.14 and Hasting 1.15

First player taken is QB Chandler Cote to the Giants.

1.30 arrives. FS Zachery George? FL Rodney Riley? NT Cantwell? DEbailey?

Best two WR on the board are:

Weston Stacey, four red stats, 68 vol, impression is as scouted – good at avoid drops, getting down field, route, horrible 3rd down, adequate big play, low courage and adjust to ball.

Rodney Riley 0 1 red, 3 blues, 26 vol, underrated, grat avoid, downfield, and route, poor 3rd down, low big play, solid courage and adjust.

Who do I like more? The underrated one or the as scouted one with the great stats. Hey have identical avoid drops and downfield.

Stacey – worse, a bit, in route running; worse in 3rd down, a little better in big play, worse in courage, worse a bit in adjust to ball

So Riley has the better stats, and is a kick return specialist. Too.

The slightly better underrated bars, or the as scouted red stats.

Riley it is.

3.30 – OG Clinton? SS Kempthorn? Kempthron

4.4 – TE Frederickson or Timlin? Mackenzie Timlin

Mid 4 – OT Benson? WLB Krauchhick – Krauchick

Late 4th OT Benson

Late 5th – CB Jose Gonzalez

Mid 6th – OG Wyatt Sawyer

Late 6th - WR Larry Benning

7.30. WLB Dylan Nichols

Amateur Draft Report:

Rnd 1 - Rodney Riley, WR, Oregon State
Rnd 3 - Scottie Kempthorn, S, Southern California
Rnd 4 - Mackenzie Timlin, TE, Louisville
Rnd 4 - Willie Benson, T, Wisconsin
Rnd 4 - Dean Krauchick, OLB, Arizona State
Rnd 5 - Joseph Gonzalez, CB, Kansas
Rnd 6 - Larry Bening, WR, Houston
Rnd 6 - Wyatt Sawyer, G, Kansas
Rnd 7 - Dylan Nichols, OLB, West Virginia

Abe Sargent 12-02-2016 10:40 PM

Riley 30/67
Kemp 23/63
Nichols – 23/63
Krauchick – 33/75
Gonzalez – 29/51
Timlin – 21/48
Sawyer 12/47
Bening 16/38
Benson 22/54

Current post-draft feels B+ rating

I just keep getting LBs to fall. The rest of the league doesn’t respect it. And the best DE in ages, better than Stanton, just went 1.22, With a 100 potential rating.

There are a few UFAs of interest. The best is Buddy Hatcher , C, with a potential of 71 and I am also making an offer for P Lucas Robertson, with a 70+ potential as well. LCB Harvey Ellard, RB Les Kluge and a few more.

Now I still need some TE stuff. We only have two TEs under contract. I offer to UFA Amir Foudray and Edgar Ruddy

Week 2 – 2 sign with us.

Week 3 – Three more do

Week 4 – The last signs.

We have 62 people under roster. Anything else?

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 06:42 AM

RB Les Kluge = Busted in camp
OG Duane Auguston
CB porter
OT Earnest Ellison

I extend SE Dustin Wright by 5 years, 60 mill

I decide to not make offers to retain either SS Karl Joseph or FS baxter.

I finish the preseason 30-1

P Robertson
C Hatcher, dropped to 52 pot
CB Ellard
SLB Garcia

It's like good linebackers just flock to me!

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 08:58 AM

I wanted to have my F Tag available next year, so I extend Stanton the big, giant cash he wants and needs. That guy is my JJ watt, and I’m not letting him out of my sight

Why is Stanton unwilling to sign for me? It says, due to past injustices my player is unwilling to sign with your team. What injustices? He likes me. He’s content.

Looks like the double franchise tag pisses him off. Had I known that, I could have fought for him in FA and not tagged him, or just traded him in the draft to move up higher than the stud DE there was available and just moved him.

For now, I’ll keep it as going, and look at potentially tagging Stanton next year and keep him tagged until I have a good replacement.

Week 1 – We win 26-6 over the Ravens. MOM is RB Diego Lorey with 23 carries, 153 yard and a score. Arledge was 18 of 29, 148 and 0:0. DE Horner had a fumble and return for a score. Picks by Baxter and Banda,

After the game, CB Harrison is injured with an Achilles tendon and out for a month. CB Lincoln Howard is starting until his return.

Week 2 – We crush the Falcons 31-13. Arledge, MOM, 20 of 32 and 3:0, 247 yards. He hits TE Walford Lynch and FB Schuster for a scores. Lorey adds 103 and a TD on the ground. Pick by Baxter.

Week 3 – We head to Mile High Stadium and lose 17-24. Lorey held to 64 yards, Arledge was 18 of 30 for 174 and 1:0 with Wright catching the score. 3 sacks by Stanton.

Week 4 – We beat the Bills 27-23. Arledge was MOM and hit Riley and Lynch for cores. Riley retired a KO 92 yards for a s core. Lorey 88 yards, pick by LB Nelson.

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 12:56 PM

Week 5 – We thump the Steelers 33-13. Arledge is MVp with 24 of 28, 264 and 3:0. He hits TE Walford twice for scores and FB Schuster once. Lorey rushes 77 on the ground plus a score. 2 sacks by Kirksey, another by Banda and one by Horner

CB antoine Harrison is healthy again and returns from his injury. RB Lorye broke his finger.

Week 6 – We beat Miami 21-9. MOM is NFL Defensive Player of the Week S Miles Tatum ad his two picks. Lorey has 21 for 131 yards, and Arledge 24 of 32 for 186 and 1:0 – hitting Wright for a score. Stanton knocks a field goal, and returns is 98 yards for as core!

Week 7 – In a battle of 5 win teams, our defenses wills a win when the Kets shut our offense down, keeping Arledge and Lorey scoreless and pedestrian. We have 3 forces fumbles, 5 picks, one of which is returned by Baxter for a score.

Week 8 – We lose at New England 34-31. They held Lorey to 5 yards on 17 carries, Arledge rushes or a score, and tosses 29 of 43 for 324 and 3:1 – hitting Wright twice for TD s and 106 yards, and Schuster for another TD.

We are 6-2

LT Smith is doubtful with a hyperextended elbow, and the broken finger is healed. OG Bitonio questionable for a few weeks. I start OG Maurer for Smith.

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 06:26 PM

Week 9 – We lose o the Ravens 24-30. Arledge is 22 of 39 for232 yards and a score. RB Lorey rushes for a score and 82 yards. And CB Harrison picks and returns it for a score as well.

Week 10 – BYE

Week 11 – We head to 6-3 Cincinnati and…on the first drive of the game, QB Arledge is injured and knocked out. QB Kelley is asked to step up, but this is really an opportunity for the coaches to lean on Lorey. Lowey has 215 yards, 1 TD on the ground, and Kelley another ground score. Kelley had 16 of 27 for 1:0, and hit WR Riley for a score. Meanwhile S Miles Tatum gets a pick and returns it for score. We win 34-14.

Arledge is questionable for 3 weeks with a sprained knee

I decide to go ahead and start him. LT Smith back.

Week 12 – We beat the 55- Saints 28-7. MOM is Arledge with 31 of 44, 318, and 3:1. He its Wright for 128 yards and as core and TE Walford for 103 yards, plus FB Schuster and RB Loery for scores. Lorey adds 105 yards on 21 carries and score on the ground. Pick by Baxter. 5 KRB by OT Shon Coleman. 2 sacks by LB Sawyer nelson.

Now unfortunately we have a pair of players out.

RG Joel Bitonio – Out for 7 weeks with a broken tibia
FS Miles Tatum – strained achilles tendon, out for 4 weeks
DE Julio Stanton, question with a strained hammy

OG Maurer and SS Thomas will start.

Week 13 – We host the 7-4 Colts and send them home, barely, 20-19. Karl Joseph is MVP with a pick and return 82 yards for as core. Kirksey with another pick. Lorey held 67 yards, and a score, and Arledge was damaged – 21 of 35, 191, 1:3. He hit Riley for that score

In other news, Stanton already came back from his injury

9-3

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 06:49 PM

ILB Horton is injured for 3 weeks with a separated shoulder. I’ll start rookie Krauchick.

Week 14 – We crush the 8-4 Panthers 30-3. MOM isi Arledge with 19 of 27, 223 and 3:0 – hitting TE Walford, RB Lorey and FB Schuster for scores. 19 for 72 by Lorey. We have three picks – Joseph, CB Harrison and S Baxter .

Week 15 – We lose a tough match against the 8-5 bengalss 34-27. They chose to shut down Lorey hard, hoping that would stop us. It didn’t. Arlddge was 33 of 46 for 353 and 2:0 and hit Riley and Lynch for scores Lynch with 122 yards. LB Banda with a pick and returned for a core. 2 sacks each by Horner and Stanton. This would have been a OT game by Cincinnati made a 54 yard punt return for a score. Ah well.

S Miles Tatum is well and back in the lineup.

Week 16 - We head to Tampa and don’t do much 13-3. But it’s a win. Arledge MOM with 24 for 31 and 219 0:0. Lorery had 19 for 104 and 1. We blocked a punt and backup LB Staat returned it for a score. That’s our line TD>

LB Horton is back.

Week 17 – We finish with the 9-6 Steelers. We beat them 30-17. Picks by Tatum and Baxter, and Tatum returned one for as core. Arledge, MVP, 20 of 29, 232, 1:0 – he hit WR Wright for that score. Lorey was 22 for 81, and 1 scores.

C Graham is out for 7 weeks. I bench him and start C Rivers. Rivers finished that game with 3 KRB.

We are 12-4, and have the #2 seed. The Broncos, at 14-2, re #1, and the Jets are 12-4 as well. Colts at 10-6, Bengals 11-5, and KC at 10-6 wrap to up. Every team at 10 or more wins. We also have a 9-7 Oakland and 9-7 Pittsburgh and 8-8 Ravens, so again, we have a rough divion.s Only two teams in the NFC have 10 digit wins, and the lead is the Vikes at 11-5 and then the Giants at 10-6

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 07:02 PM

The 2022 NFL Playoffs!!!!

Wild Wild CARD CARD Weekend –

Carolina heats to Tampa and gets thumped 30-13.
Dallas heads to Arizona and wins 29-26

Meanwhile in the AFC, which we clearly care about more, the Jets handle the Chefs 31-19 and the Bengals head to Indy and defeat the Colts 30-27

That sets up….

Week 2, Divisional Playoffs

OG Bitonio back from injury

12-4 Jets at 12-4 Cleveland
11-5 Bengals at 14-2 Broncos

Dallas heads to Minnesota

I am rooting hard for the Bengals!

Arledge, 19 of 25, 4:0. Hits Wright, Lorey, Walford and Lynch fro scores. Lorey adds 128 yards on the ground. 2 picks by Tatum and another by LB Vince Horton returned for a score. Sacks by Horner and Stanton. C Juan Rivers has 6 KRB.

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 07:33 PM

The 2022-23 NFL Super Bowl

Featuring

Your NFC Champions, the #2 seed New York Giants

Vs

Your AFC Champion, the #2 seed 12-4 Cleveland Browns

The Browns are favored by a touchdown.

The Giants have four players out with injuries. TE Morgan, WR Martinez, both starters, FS Tartt and PB Mercier, their defensive stud a 70/70 guy.

Remember the stud QB Chandler Cote? Taken in the top pick this year in the draft? Well he’s taken by the Giants. He made it to the Super Bowl in his rookie season. Annoying right?

We have to end him. I’m feeling a strong Brown Out for today’s game!

Amiright??????????

They play us very, very hard. No Brown Out Here…

Drive 1 by Giants, ends with punt
Drive 1 by us, punt
They have a drive that ends with a pick by Tati,
We drive 23 yards for a score in two plays – Rodney Riley, 23 yard reception from Arledge scores. The rookie with a Super Bowl score!

That is going to be the last time we score a TD…..

They drive and it ends with a fumble. Forced by LB Sawyer Nelson, recovered by CB Howard.
We drive and score a FG to go up 10-0

End of 1st quarter

They drive and score a FG. 10-3.

Drive #4 sees us go three and out and punt
Their 5th drive is a…..10 play, 56 yard drive, with a TD. 10—10
We respond with a 6 play, 44 yard drive, that end with a FG. 13-10 us.

Their 6th drive is over on downs after 9 plays and 33 yards

We drive, go a great 3 players and -4 yards and put

They run out time,

HALF – we are up 13-10

We start with the ball. We man up. We need to make this game shorter. So we have a 12 play griding drive, 61 yards. We score a FG with 5:39 on the 3rd quarter clock to get a FG. 16-10

That will be the last time we score…

They get the ball and drove. 15 players, 68 yards. They score a FG. 16-13

We get it and a few plays later we are forced to punt.

End of 3rd quarter

They drive, and have to punt after 5 plays

We get the ball with 10:48 left. We drive. Hard, long, grinding. We just get 41 yards, but over 13 plays. We have the ball for 8:08 minutes, and punt it to them at the 2:40 mark .

They get the ball at their 20 yard line after P Rob Emerson gets a touchback

First play by rookie sensation Cote – complete to TE Wager, 12 yards, out of bounds
Second play – Cote hits WR Carthon for 11 yards, defensive penalty for defensive holding on CB Schmidtke declines, but stops the clock
Third play – Cote incomplete
Fourth play – Cote finds TE Wagner for 4 yards, and in bounds
TWO MINUTE WARNING

Fifth play Cote is forced to scramble as out 3-4 just blows through him, LB Banda brings him down after he gets 4 yards
Sixth Play – Cote hits TE Simon for 18 yards in bound
Seventh Play – Cote completed to TE Simon for 6 yards in bounds

TIME OUT BY NYG

Eighth Play – Cote hits WR Liam Dunn for 17 yards who goes out of bounds.

Cote has moved the ball very effectively from their 20 to the our 23 yard line with 1:10 left on the clock and a new set of downs.

Ninth Play, Giants run RB Walter Spiller for 3 yards. DT Michael Dunn tackles him, forces a fumble, which DE Horner recovers.

And that’s the game!

We win 16-13

Not a pretty year for Arledge. He was fine at the half, with 1 pick and like 13 TDs and yards. But the injuries and such slowed him down, and we had a weaker season. He finished 21st in passing yards, tied for 12th in pass TDs, 5th in QB rating

This was clearly the highlight of the year. CB Schmidtke was 2nd in the league among Cbs with pasdef. With 6 picks, Baxter was tied for the league lead in picks with a pair of corners. With 14 games, Tatum was tied for 2nd in the league in picks and led INT RET TD. Why no Baxeter All Pro? No clue.

Now SS Reynolds is NFL DPotY, led in pas def, had 4 picks, 2 returned. That;s fine. So the All Pros went to Reynolds, Bumgarner, Tatum and Hoppe. Why Hoppe? No clue! He had a sack? Did he have a bunch of FF? Nope just 1. I have no ideas!

Team Awards:

Offensive MVP – FB Ralph Schuster. During the preseason I asked a stupid question. I have the best FB in football. Why am I not featuring him? So I put him in my #2 spot for TEs in every offense formation that required 2 or more Tes. And dude responded! He caught 5 scores and 372 yards. Which is a large % of the output of Arledge this year. Good job in the All Pro game!

Defensive MVP – Baxter – Robbed of an All Pro. Led league in picks, and had a very healthy 13 pasdef, plus a pick for a score. Can’t deny his awesome!

Special teams MVP – P Benson rose his average in the league to 3rd best average among qualifiers

Rookie of the Year – WR Rodney Riley – Caught a Super Bowl TD! That’s always fun. Was a solid, but improvable, part of the offense.

Heart Award – CB Lincoln Howard – He played as nickel in a few settings, and was moved to start for a handful of games. No picks. Just 5 pasdef. So why choose him? Dude had 2 sacks. When a CB has more sacks than picks, that’s funny. (CB Schmidtke had a sack too)

End of Season –

Performance – 86
Franchise value 86
Profit 84
Roster 25

Score 80

We have no retirements!

Retirees of note:

RB LA Murray, Doug Martin, Dom Jones,
WR Julio Jones, Emmanuel Sanders, Tate, Antonio Brown, Norwood
OL – A bunch 0 like 218 O Lin e leave, including Alex Boone and Spain

DE Odrick, Clayborn,

LB Von Miller, Arturo Pierce

CB Jimmy Smith, Davon House, Cox, S Kim Chancellor, Gilchrist, Vacarro

Just one inductee – Adrian Peterson

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 08:36 PM

Last year was the first time we had 100% attendance!

We made 108 mill cash

We have the 10th best stadium, 21st best roster, the best fan support (GO Cleveland!), and 8th worst economy

We are the 9th e most valuable franchise

I give a raise to my OC to keep him around

Coach Time!!!

We pick 8th

WHOA!!!!

There is a 75 suitably for DC, with a true 34-4 defense. I hire…

Logan Giannino, linebackers,

I also hire a new AC – Jack Keith

I have a bunch of players that are FAs:

FS Baxter
CB Clofford
K Crosby
DT Dunn
QB Jones
C Rivers
DE Stanton
TE Walford
SS Joseph

Had I gotten Stanton to sign his deal, I would franchise Baxter, and then resign him after his great year. Before this he hadn’t done anything, and I figured that Id have Tatum and Kempthron start next year. But I was unable to sign Stanton

So question –

Do I tag Stanton or Baxter?

I feel like Baxter is more replaceable, and chase able in FA.

So I tag Stanton

He’ll make 16.53 mill

I’d like to consider bringing back Baster and Dunn. But we’ll see for sure

FREE AGENCY!!!

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 09:24 PM

I have 42 players under contract.

Players in the last year of their deal:

WILB Horton
LB Kirksey
CB Harrison
DE Horner
S Tatum
FL Lynch
SE Stone
Some backup RBs
QB Arledge

I extend Horner by 4 years. I extend Arledge to a 5 year 60 million deal. Graham’s gotta get paid 

I extend Horton by 2 more years

DE Stanton still doesn’t want his cash

Wait for better options before making decisions on CB Harrison, WR Lynch, or Stone, and Tatum

I have 31 mill in cash space

I advance a week. Anyone in FA I like?

I need four starters, and I have the cash for the splash

K
S?
DT
TE

And then:

Backups: QB, RB, TE, C, DT?, CB,S

In FA we have 3 good players at 73, 72, and 65 that can kick

I am a bad GM. I could have signed Baxter to a much cheaper deal last year. Ah well.

Baxter wants – 38 mill, and 5 years

He is the 3rd best S on the class, and just behind the 58 and 56 others at 55. Ironically, Hoppe, the SS the league thoughts was better, is out there. He wants less money. 28 over 4 years.

But Baxter has an exceptional affinity with Schmidtke, my leader. So he’s worth keeping around,

What about DT? I make an offer for 6 mill, 2 yeas for Dunn

I make an offer to TE Eugene Nail, would be a leader with three players liking him. 10 mill, 4 years, 2nd best TE in FA

I make an offer to K Brandon McManus.

Any other major talent I want to chase?

CB Jonathan Fox is 65/65, 5th year, wants 54 mill over 5 years, he is the 18th best CB in the league. I could sing him and let Harrison go. Although is 61 to 65 that much of an upgrade?

As of today, Stanton is now the 3rd best player in the league after an OG and Ss passed him

There’s really no other major FAs I want to bring in.

I submit an offer to Cardale Jones for two years min sal

My O Line is getting old – 10th year for Bitonio, 9th for Smith and Scherff, and 8th for Graham and Coleman.

Alright….

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 10:13 PM

Week 2 - We sign Dunn back to our squad

Week 5 – We sign TE Nail

With Nail I have – Affinities with TE Ruddy, and Jones and others.

Week 7 – We sign Cardale Jones

Week 8 = Baxter reups

Week 11 – We get K McManus

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 10:32 PM

The 2023 NFL Draft!!!

We pick 32nd. As a reminder we don’t have a 2nd round from the trade for Lorey. We have 2 fourths instead, and 7 picks total

At 1.1 the Bills take RB Alex Beeman

As he nears, I see a stud LB. I swap with the Giants, who need a stud LB the most and take him. I am not missing out on my LB again. I lose my 7th rounder this year

I take:

Karl Rincon, the best player in the board by 1.5 grade. When you look at him you er going to love him

8 volatility, 3-4 ILB< potential affinity, Rincon is a force of football nature

There were some other non-Rincon players there that if Rincon were taken, I would have considered.

CB Gregory Canada? SLB Walters? DT Eric Webb? DE Jason Miller looks amazing!

High RUN D, Pass rush, and strength, with lower play D and punishing hitter and very low endurance

But Rincon is worth the stretch

Seeing their need at LB, the Giants take Walters. So I was right thy were going Outside LB here.

Miller heads off the board to Tennessee at pick 39, Webb at 43.

Pick 60 arrives still Canada is on the board, as is the solid, I hope, CB Peter Davison. Then two corners and a safety head off in a row, leaving just Davidson and Canada at the top.

3rd round arrives. Will one of these two make ti to 3.32?

Atlanta comes up at 3.11. I make my move. I trade RB Strickland and move yup from 3.32 ot 11. (Which is a lot of points on the trade chart).

I draft Canada

At 3.13 Davidson heads off the board. Two more corners get drafted before 3-32, so neither were likely making it

At 4.4 I look around. Where is the talent? C Otis Schnebele

4.32? DT Graham Blades. Best DT on the board

5.32 – RB Moe Estell

6.32 – WLB Eduardo Gibbons

Amateur Draft Report:

Rnd 1 - Karl Rincon, OLB, Syracuse
Rnd 3 - Gregory Canada, CB, Florida
Rnd 4 - Otis Schnebele, C, Texas Southern
Rnd 4 - Graham Blades, DT, Louisville
Rnd 5 - Moe Estell, RB, Oklahoma
Rnd 6 - Eduardo Gibbons, OLB, Mississippi State

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 11:08 PM

Early Results?

Rincon – 45/80
Canada – 27/70
Estell – 39/65
C Schebele 25/65
Gibbons 33/65
DT Blades 41/62

A- grade

Now Estell and Canada feel a little bust-y t me. They weren’t amazing with the combine stats, just with good bars and support for them. So if they bust, I won’t be surprised. But given that I got Estell in the 5th round, even if he winds up in the 50/50 era I’ll be set. Meanwhile, I keep finding good LB talent. And even if some of these bust I’m still happy – every player leaving the draft has a potential of 62 or more

Now Schnebele has great combines, so I suspect e’s the one least likely to bust. 4 volatility.

Anyone I want from Free Agency Era #2?

UFAs:

I make an offer to C Dunkin, insurance for my own draftee, RB Colin Snyder, SS Brandan Fackleman, DE Norm Pucillo, LB Vernon Dolfinger, CB Zack Hill, TE Johnny Henselman

Week 1 – I sign one UFA, nope two, sorry, read that wrongly

Week 2 – 2 more join the powerful Browns

Week 3 – The rest join us.

I have 61 players contract. Anyone else I want to chase?

I make an offer to UFA Taylor Dembowski

There is a good RT out there, 4th year, was not made an offer, and no one else made a play. I offer to R Bryce Owens. There’s also a 56/56 RCB there too. Two years for 3 mill? That’s cheap. Amari Bone. Bringing in Boone is good insurance that Canada busts. I make that offer

Week 4 – We sign all three targets.

Camp time!!!

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 11:26 PM

Post Camp –

The Chargers offer me a 5th rounder for Cardale Jones. Sure. My 3rd string QB for a pick? I;m in

In an ironic wheel of fate I sign RG3 for a minsal contract. He gest along with TE Nail leader

I cut RT Willie Benson, CB ZackHill

Due to my absolute logjam of talent I have with the word “LineBacker” in it, I cut Scott Staat, a 4th year vet 43/43 and a solid backup. Another backup, DT Enrique newman heads out

DE Norm Pucillo boomed in camp to 36/63 – YAY!

Remember Horner was a booming UFA as well who grabbed 15 sacksa sa rookie and never looked back. H has 110.5 sacks, btw

Every few weeks I try to resign Stanton to no dice each time

Well clearing my cap was good, cause I have a major player next year to sign. RB Lorey

We go 4-0 in preseason

I cut –

RB Jace Stevinson
WR Dembowski
S Fackleman
DE Clayton

I’m confused by C. Both look similar – Dunkin is 42/63 and Schnebele 30/61. Who is my backup?

I deactivate Schnebele and cut OG Wyatt Sawyer. I’ll carry three OCs.

Banda busted to 58/58, Kirksey to 63. I cut Banda.

I cut CB Fiebelborn as well

My stud is out for a week with a concussion, I start the rookie Estell to see what he can bring to the table

WR Stone and OG Scherff are questionable for a while

Dt Dunn lost a step, and I move Blades to stare

Horner is down to 50/50. I will continue to start him until he proves he can’t start for me anymore. He’s earned my trust.

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 11:28 PM

Not sure if you saw this in the FOFC FOF8 thoughts thread.

Here are my four LBs:

Kirksey and Banda dropped, and yet I still have these four young powerhouses on my team. I;m trying to suss out who should go where, given as I'm so unaccustomed to a 3-4.

Recommend b teh game puts them at -

Rincon SLB
Nelson SILB
Horton WILB
Kraucheck WLB

Enjoy!

Nope

Alright I just talked myself into extending Lynch. 3 years 15 mill

Abe Sargent 12-03-2016 11:50 PM

Since we're pausing for now until I;m sure about my 3-4 backers, here are my other major draftees

You can see the major ones, and the undrafted DE that boomed in camp as well.

Abe Sargent 12-04-2016 10:15 AM

I posted this analysis post on another thread, but I like it, and it works for those that haven;t checked out the FOF Thread as well, so I am copyign and pasting it here:

So I inherited one great young LB on team, Kirksey, with a high 70s rating. I had 50s and 60s potential backers elsewhere. And I built my franchise very quickly around my front 7. FOr a while, all of my front 7 were set.

In particular, I had a stud D Line. A UFA got 15 sacks his first year as a rookie, and I played the crap out of him. He's now in his 8th year with me, and dropped this off season to 50/50, he has 110.5 sacks in 7 years, and had three ALL Pro and 1 Defensive Player fo tehj Year award, with 25 sacks in a season and 7 in a game, setting records for both of those. The following year I drafted DE Julio Stanton, who missed 11 games his first year, and DPotY twice, entering his 7th year, has 86.5 sacks, and 4 All Pros. Stanton was the best non-K in the league overall. And he played like it. Meanwhile I signed, in FA, DT McGee who the game rated as a 71/71 guy, and was great. He was injured for a year and a half, but he still came back and played strongly. The next year I signed Bennie Logan, DT from FA and paid him serious money. He was the 3rd best DT and was ALl Pro for me the year before I signed him, and two years for me. In fact twice in the three years they all played for me, Logan and my two DEs got ALl Pro.

I had to let McGee go. No one else could do as well as he could, I had an 86/86 guy at one end, mid 60s at the other, and two 70s in the middle. Then after a year of trying to make the D Line work, I swapped over to 3-4, adn planning on using Santon. But in his 31st year in th league, he was dropping, and was no longer someone I relayed on for, so I let him go.

Meanwhile at the backers, I drafted a solid guy named Banda, and resigned Ogbah, already on the Cleveland roster. I ran Ogbah at WLB because he could rush, Banda at SLB and Kirksey at center. Kirksey was all pro twice, once in 2016 when he was pretty much the only player on the team, and the other in 2020 when he led all LBs in sacks, picks, passes defensed, and if he had kept up his momentum in the last 2 weeks, I think he would have pushed Stanton for DPotY.

Ogbah did okay, but nothing amazing. Banda was fine. But he had an All Pro season in 2021.

So I drafted LB Vince Horton a back in 2020 in the back of the 5th round. He was a BAP pick, even though he preferred a 3-4. And I let him start at WLB and moved Ogbah, who was older and expensive and never that great, to start as a 2nd year player in the penultimate year of my 4-3 defense. Then in teh 2021 draft, Nelson fell to me at 2.32 and I grabbed him, as another 3-4 preference backer who was a BAP.

In 2022 draft, I wasn;t looking for LBs that much when Krauchick fell to me in the back of the 4th. Alright, that;s fine. I had just moved to 3-4 so I grabbed him.

Int eh first year of my 3-4, I started Banda, Kirksey, Stanton and Horton in these spots:

Horton - WILB
Nelson - WLB
Banda - SLB
Kirksey - SILB

In those four roles...

Code:

Player              Pos Team  GP GS Tckl Asst Sack Blkd Hurr QBKd
Kirksey, Chris        ILB CLE  16 16 101  36  3.5  1    4    6
Banda, Robert        OLB CLE  16 16 92  27  2.5  3    7    0
Nelson, Sawyer        ILB CLE  16 16 84  26  4.5  4    4    1
Horton, Vince        ILB CLE  13 5  43  10  0.0  1    0    0

Player              Pos Team  GP GS Ints IRYd TD  Defn Cght PPly PDPct
Banda, Robert        OLB CLE  16 16 3    67  1    6    51  637  76.4
Kirksey, Chris        ILB CLE  16 16 2    8    0    4    43  640  76.6
Horton, Vince        ILB CLE  13 5  1    0    0    0    17  173  72.3
Nelson, Sawyer        ILB CLE  16 16 1    1    0    3    32  559  77.0

So nothing amazing in there. Banda dropped again in training, and was in the high 50s. And these four all prefer 3-4s, and he didn;t. So i cut him. And Kirksey is still on my roster, but dropped to 63/63

Anyways, Krau and Rincon have never started in this role.

So I just want to make sure I have the right guys in the right seats, before I begin my season. There's no reason this lB corps shouldn;t dominate. I need to make that happen. I even went after a DC in the off-season with a great play calling.

Abe Sargent 12-04-2016 10:27 AM

I took a quick pic of my new DC so you can see him, and Stanton, as well as all LBs in teh league listed by future potential, and you can see where my quad lines up

Abe Sargent 12-04-2016 11:00 AM

Let‘s just go ahead, and use the Rexxed suggestions for these four fine folks. My hope, is they dominate as much as Stanton, Logan, Horner and MCGee did when they were in

Brown Out Time!!!

Week 1 – We start this year as a rematch of the AFC Championship vs Cincinnati. RB Moe Estell is Game MVP and NFL Offensive Player oft eh Week with 30 for 138 and 3 scores on the ground. Arledge is just 0:1, 16 of 22 and 217. Pick by dimeback SS Kempthorn, OG Scherff has 7 KRB.

I have RB Lorey back from injury and RB Snyder, a backup, is out for a few weeks.

Because of how sack prone Arledge is, sometimes folks don;t get the All Pros they deserve. Scherff is 2nd in Gs for KRB and no All Pro. This was a very respectable year for us.

Huh. Looks like I forgot to move Graham back after his injury. And yet, rookie undrafted C Dunkin got no sacks allowed in 14 starts. Huh.

K McManus, 27 of 28 FG, 48/48 PAT
P Emerson 93 punts, 48.5 average, 40.5 net

Emerson had 3rd best net in league, and the best average in the league. Huh. Why no All Pro?

Stanton was one half sack off the league leader and 2nd in sacks. Horner? 5.5 sacks is his worst ever. Blades, teh rookie, had a solid productive season

But look at rookie Rincon! He led all linebackers in the league with 11.5 sacks. Meanwhile Krauchick;s 8 sacks is great, and he led all lbs in the NFL for blocked passes. Nelson led my team in tackles, had a pair of sacks, and was very respectable. So when the defense needs just three backers, Stanton, Rincon and Krauchick are the three I use, so Horton is out there for fewer plays.

In the league, 2 corners have 8 picks, 3 players have 7 - 2 S and a CB. So Tatum tied for the lead for Ss for picks at 7.

Not as many pasdef from any of my backers or Dbacks. Weak year for defending the pass

Team Awards –

Offensive MVP _ RB Diego Lorey – He led the league in rushing yards in just 15 games, and blew through defenses many times. Meanwhile he was 3rd among RBs in receiving yards, 2nd in receiving Tds, 1st in3rd in rushing TDs, and well, you get the idea. Good job Lorey!

Defensive MVP - FS miles Tatum – Was the major good news from the secondary. He was a bright light of awesome! Thanks Miles Tatum!

Special Teams MVP – K McManus . Both my P and K deserve this award. I have a kicker that only missed one FG and no PAT. I have a P who led the league in average, and 3rd in net average. Both did well. But I’m going with McManus.

Rookie of the Year: LB Karl Rincon. Duh

Heart Award – RB Moe Estell – Had to start his first NFL game due a concussion to Lorey and did very well in that role. Thanks Moe!

But I don’t need a lot

I offer RG3 to reup for two years, vet min sal

There’s no one out there I want.

So I make offers to my RFAs – C Zane Dunkin and RB Snyder

Let’s look at the daft

I pick 1.24. We have 2 5th round selections, 8 total.

There is a guy, DT Damien Alcott, at the top fo the board, identifies as natural 3-4 NT, total stud. He is who I want the most. Hard to Read, 91 volatility, 4 red stats, one blue. He is the strongest, smartest and fastest DT in the draft. That’s pretty sexy

I interview a couple more 3-4 NT near te top

There’s a great underrated TE at the top o the board. TE Danny Meyer

I also interview some LB, CB and S I think would be there at 1.24

Week 5 – Kirkseey signs with the Steelers.

Week 7 – Griffin signs with us

I have 49 players on my roster:
