I enjoyed it, too. Overall it was pretty entertaining and funny. I liked a lot of the soundtrack, too.

When I saw the trailer I thought it was going to be terrible, but last weekend I was in bed most of it with a migraine and had nothing else to watch. Ended up binging the whole series.

I still wouldn't say I loved it (gave it 3/5 on Netflix), but it exceeded my expectations.

And I finally got around to watching BoJack Horseman. Glad I waited so that I had 3 seasons of content. Took a few episodes to get going for me, but I loved it and each season was better than one before. It certainly doesn't pull any punches.

BoJack Horseman is the best thing Netflix has ever done. It's utterly brilliant.

Absolutely agree. Love this!

Funniest episode by far is the one with Patton Oswald playing the navy seal that accuses bojack of stealing his muffins. However, the show really really explores adult depression and selfdestructiveness in its many forms in very touching ways. Of course surrounded by really funny writing and performances. And that 4th episode of season 3. Where he's underwater and doesn't talk for the entire episode...is....wow phenomenal.

ok, ok, i'll pick it back up :D

I think I'm near the end of season 2? start of season 3? I was really enjoying it but just set it aside while doing all the crap I had to for moving.

Indeed. Though the 2nd to last episode of Season 3 is pretty amazing as well.

Tried to watch Ultimate Beastmaster to tide my daughter over until Ninja Warrior is back. Such a bad show. Talk about taking a simple concept and needlessly complicate it. Plus you only really get to see the last 1-2 obstacles of a person's run. So bad.

ISiddiqui 02-27-2017 09:38 AM

Interestingly, the Oscar Winning short document "The White Helmets" is a Netflix original. Had no idea until last night.

It's a great show. Watched it a few weeks ago. Amazing what they do right in the middle of a war zone.

DAVE CHAPPELLE IS BACK

tarcone 03-22-2017 02:14 PM

Watched Chappelle. Great stuff.

Also watching Santa Clarita Diet. Pretty good.

Izulde 03-22-2017 02:56 PM

Can't wait for the 31st and 13 Reasons Why to air. The book itself is unevenly written, but I still remember it some years later.

NobodyHere 03-22-2017 03:02 PM

We have trailer sign :)

Not thrilled about the music they used but I am still extremely excited about the show.

Critch 04-04-2017 01:44 PM

New Netflix original movie The Discovery is worth watching. A scientist has proven there's an afterlife triggering a wave of suicides by people wanting to get there.

A thinker, not an action movie, but a solid 7.5/10.

djsatu 04-04-2017 03:14 PM

Don't know if this is on Netflix or not. The Returned or Les Revenants is an awesome show about dead people returning to their homes in a small mountain community. The Returned opens in a small mountain community which is rocked to its core when several local people who are presumed dead suddenly re-appear at their homes. Despite having passed away some years earlier, these ghostly characters appear in human form, they have not aged, and they are completely unaware of their own fatality. Determined to reclaim their lives and start over, they slowly come to realize that they are not the only ones to have been brought back from the dead. Their return augers torment for their community when a gruesome murder attempt bears a chilling resemblance to the work of a serial killer from the past. This is a homecoming like no other. Awesome show so far!

Master of None returns for Season Two on May 12!

CrescentMoonie 04-05-2017 11:08 AM

Louis CK is his usual horrible hilarious self in his new special.

I'm finishing up 13 Reasons Why tonight, this is the first show I've watched in a very long time that's *really* given me the urge to binge fully at the expense of almost anything else.

tarcone 04-17-2017 06:32 PM

I thought it was okay.

First two episodes drew me in, then I thought the middle was meh. At that point I had put too much time into it not to finish, and luckily it got much better at the end. I'm curious what you think of the finish.

tarcone 04-17-2017 08:26 PM

Yes. The ending was what you said.

chinaski 04-17-2017 08:55 PM

Mystery Science Theater hasnt made me laugh once and thats making me really sad.

Groundhog 04-17-2017 08:55 PM

My wife watched the first couple of episodes of 13 Reasons Why over the weekend. I half tuned-in, but it didn't really grab me. It's a good idea, I just thought the execution was a bit heavy-handed.

I finished season 1 of Black Mirror over the weekend. Wow, what a headfuck that is. I thought episode 3 in particular was scary in how close we seem to be to a place where something like this could quite easily happen.

I was in the same boat. I was blown away by it and it just seemed to get better and better to me.

I was surprised at how realistic it was. The debate on if it glorifies suicide is interesting as it seems to be getting some backlash

QuikSand 04-18-2017 07:28 AM

Happy Valley is a BBC police drama, with two seasons pulled over for Netflix. Pretty reminiscent of The Killing, and similarly well done. I have finished the first season (only six one hour episodes) and it was very deep and rewarding. Good stuff.

Second season isn't quite as good but still worth the time. It's actually a Netflix coproduction so we get it at basically the same time as the British.

My current watch is season two of the Great British Bake off, having watched seasons 1 and 3. It is so absolutely delightful. It's also the first show I've watched on Netflix in calendar 2017.

I've really enjoyed it. Loved "Avalanche" in particular.

Groundhog 04-19-2017 05:57 PM

I've enjoyed pretty much every British crime/thriller/drama I've watched on Netflix. Didn't stick with season 2 of the Tunnel, but pretty much everything else has been ace.

Suicane75 04-19-2017 08:15 PM

MST3K will take some getting used to for me due to all the new players, but it I've enjoyed it a lot. It feels like the original with a fresh coat of a paint.

My take as well. Laughed my way through Ep 1, even though I was only half paying attention. It was good enough that the Mrs decried it the worst thing on television ever.

Julio Riddols 04-19-2017 10:30 PM

I've been digging the hell out of MST3K too. It's not Joel or Mike, but it's not far from that IMO. It is at least on par with Rifftrax for me.

Subby 04-20-2017 11:42 AM

I just rewatched both The Barkley Marathons and Inspired to Ride in the past month and still love them as much as the first time I discovered them.

I also watched Finding Traction for the first time and while I loved the concept (ultramarathoner Nikki Kimball attempts to set the Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Long Trail in Vermont), it wasn't as compelling as I had hoped.

I wish Netflix would build out their collection of ultra-endurance documentaries beyond the handful of titles they have, but I also realize that we are talking about a pretty small niche here.

digamma 04-20-2017 11:56 AM

For those who haven't watched the Barkley Marathons, it is worth the 90 minutes, even if you aren't a runner, hiker, or any other sort of outdoorsman. Laz is such a compelling character and it is a great story.

+1 for all these... so +3?

Agree on The Barkley Marathons. Great documentary.

CrescentMoonie 04-23-2017 02:37 PM

Love The Barkley Marathons. Absolutely hate 13 Reasons Why, Clay is completely obnoxious.

Our World War

Produced by BBC. It is stories of WW1 taken from actual written documents of what happened in WW1 to British soldiers.
First episode was outstanding. I cant wait to see the next. When I get time.

Thanks, added this to the list. Some of those WW1 battles rank at the very top of my "historical experiences I am forever thankful I did not have to endure" list.

Julio Riddols 04-26-2017 11:14 PM

Almost all the BBC stuff on Netflix is fascinating as hell. The copious amounts of nature documentaries have been basically on a loop with MST3K for me every night.

Watched the Barkley Marathons and totally agree. That was a great documentary.

I have looked up some of the race reports for previous years and the people competing in this run are officially bonkers.

There is a ton of good-to-great TV streaming on Netflix, but there seriously might only be a dozen movies worth watching. I'd love to know what goes into deciding what gets streamed, because it's clearly not anything obvious.

I'm guessing that streaming only people tend to either binge shows or watch something beyond the typical big budget films. I've watched a ton of documentaries and quite a few movies that I hadn't heard of before.

CrescentMoonie 05-06-2017 12:11 AM

Season 1 of the remake of One Day At A Time. I'm not kidding. It's not great, but it is good.

I didn't think I'd like this show going in but it's good. I think the best description of it is a romantic comedy for guys. It's funny and I think relatable for a lot of people.
