Lol...yeah I see what you mean. |

lmao! That was so perfect! |
i bet KFC asked for that spot. seriously thats perfect placement
|

Doubtful IMO, they aren't usually that hip. Much more likely that several phone calls started before that spot even finished and that by mid-morning tomorrow at least one buyer at a very large agency is going to be unemployed, with several other people trying to recover from enormous ass chewings. If it wasn't intentional then that's the sort of thing that ultimately causes agencies to lose very big accounts. |
Sneak peek on Talking Dead has "oh no" written all over it. For those looking for some character development from Michonne, there you go.
|
CM Punk and someone I've never seen before on talking dead....why?
And I gather we will get 8 more episodes of Merle being shitty. |
That episode felt a good deal different from previous episodes. It just felt more intense. I thought maybe they got some big shot director to do that episode because I thought it was so much better done than previous episodes (from a director/cinematography standpoint).
Well, not a big shot but the director was someone who has been in TV awhile. Daniel Sackheim has been producer/executive producer and director for awhile and this was the first episode of The Walking Dead he directed. Included on his resume is several episodes of Law and Order, episodes of The X Files (including the very first episode "Deep Throat"), episodes of House MD and Lie To Me. Anyway, great job from the director IMO. I especially liked the scenes with Merle interrogating Glenn. |

You need to catch up on Community, you would like it! Yvette Nicole Brown is on Community. Why she was on Talking Dead... no clue. I skipped through the entire show to get to the preview for next week. Loved this week's episode, can't wait for the mid-season finale. |
I can't decide if Merle's line about how the zombie he set on Glen would just be hungry again in an hour was too forced even for Merle or if it was perfect for him. Either way, I laughed my ass off at it because I'm a horrible person.
|
After eating chinese I'm always hungry after about an hour..

It seemed pretty much in line with Merle. He's never gone light on the racist comments. He's a piece of work. Pretty riveting episode last night. |
Quote:
This week's Talking Dead was exceptional compared to the shithole of a episode last weeks was. Yes it was two unassociated people, but at least it appears they watch the show. |
Any suggestions on the best place to watch this show? I haven't seen an episode, but hear good things.
I was thinking about buying it on iTunes. |
Quote:
iTunes is that is your thing, or Amazon Instant Video. Amazon.com: The Walking Dead: Season 1, Episode 1 "Days Gone Bye": Amazon Instant Video |
Isn't it on Netflix? I'd probably start there for seasons 1-2
|
Quote:
Yes it's on Netflix as well. |
Quote:
Plus there was another racial remark from him earlier in the episode (re: T-Dawg) so presumably it's to make sure we know he's really still a bad guy. Problem for the show is that he's kind of like a wrestling heel that gets over & gets a face pop. |
Here is the aftershow part of Talking Dead, good talk there.

Walking dead KFC commercial - YouTube
warning: gross |
I like the show but I just finished off the first season of the PC/PS3/XBOX game and the writing is about 10 times better. If you like the show/comics, it is a must buy. You will be blown away by the story.
|
Quote:
Agreed, great story. Hoping for more seasons from the developer. |
Quote:
They have already confirmed season 2 is coming. Really excited. |
Quote:
not sure about 10x better, but it is definitely something WD fans will enjoy. |

No doubt. A bit of hyperbole, but I don't think a single character on the TV version is stronger than the game's weakest developed character. The emotional impact I felt during the game has never been there while watching the show. Some of that is being in "control" of what occurs during the story but a lot of it has to do with the strong, believable characters with fantastic voice acting. I read that the 4th chapter alone in the game utilized 250 pages of screenwriting. |
I have watched the first 3 episodes of the show. I like what I have seen so far.
Question about the game. When is a good time to play it in relation to how far I am in the show? |
Quote:
I think you would be okay playing the game at anytime. As far as characters go there's only some slight crossover in the first episode but not in a way that will spoil anything. The only thing I can think of that might be an issue is something you learn in the second episode of the game that isn't revealed in the show until the end of season 2 (I have no idea when you learn it in the comics). It is not something where a plot point of the show is spoiled, but rather a revelation about the nature of the world the comic/show/game take place everything. If you really want to learn every thing from the show then wait until you have seen season 2 to play the second episode of the game. I don't think the revelation is a big deal to learn prior to seeing it on the show, but I could see some people being bothered by it. |
yeah, I agree - not that huge of a spoiler and the character crossover is insignificant. you can play any time.
|
I read some really huge spoilers about the midseason finale. Sounds great.

Agree with this x 1000. If you aren't even that into games but have access to have something that can play this game, you should check it out. One of my better fictional experiences (book, movie, tv, game) in a while. Going to be a surprisingly strong game of the year contender i think given its relatively casual game-ness. |
I'd asked before in the games thread and never got an answer. How much of the game is spent in any sort of first person view? I've assumed based on watching video reviews that I won't be able to play it. I get really bad motion sickness with anything in first person, unless its extremely small bits here and there. As I've gotten older I've even had some issues with over the shoulder views (like in GTA4, or Arkham Asylum), but with those games if I take Ginger Capsules I can play for hours (if I don't, I'm done in about 15 minutes). Compare that to Skyrim where the game forced you into a first person view for the introduction story which I assume took most people 15-20 minutes. That 15-20 minutes took me 5 sittings over 3 days to complete before moving on with the rest of the game once it allowed me to switch the camera to 3rd person. I can't play any first person shooter for more than 2-3 minutes.
So, Walking Dead games, yay or nay? |
The game comes out on a disk in 2 weeks for Xbox/ps3. I think it's 29.99 also there is some deluxe edition with Compendium 1 for like $70.
|
There's a brief portion of the first game that is first person or directly over the shoulder third person with mouse look. There's no need to actually look around though as you're just riding in the back seat of a car and you can just chose the dialogue responses. Other than that it's pretty much standard for a point and click adventure.
|
Thanks mckerney, I'll try them out as soon as the budget allows then. Perhaps the Steam Christmas sale.

Tonight provides the funniest single scene in TWD history I do believe
|
Announced tonight, New Years Eve & New Years Day marathon of every episode to date.

the bit about the short hair (trying to phrase that without a spoiler)? I do believe it also provided the best zombie kill to date as well, I assume that one is obvious without spoilers as well. Spectacular episode, and great half-season. |
Quote:
Yes, and I LOL'ed considerably. Quote:
I'm guessing we're thinking of the same one, although I'm not sure I thought it was that great. |
I hate that they are going to try to turn Merle good. He's horrible. Andrea sucks. The Governor sucks.
Hopefully they figure out how to write these people better in the second half. |
Otherwise I really like the show.
|
Quote:
I don't think I'd go that far. He just might not be the most evil dude in the room at all times. |
something tells me Daryl wasn't trying so hard to not get caught, and that something also tells me he's right where he wants to be. the fact that he got caught didn't shock me (i assumed that was going to happen as soon as he said he was going to stay behind and provide cover fire), the fact that the Governor turned on Merle is what surprised me. didn't see that coming.
|
Quote:
Don't forget that Merle told the Governor that he had killed Michonne (who just so happened to "kill" his daughter and stab him in the eye. I'd be pissed at Merle, too. :) |
Quote:
Agree w/ everything about Daryl. I wasn't surprised he turned on Merle though, remember a few episodes ago Merle lied about his certainty about Michonne being dead, and also the Governor was upset that he brought Glenn and Maggie to their community, he was also upset last week to learn that a smaller group had cleared the prison when Merle had told the Governor he was sure it couldn't be done. Merle was in pretty deep shit. |
Quote:
ahhhh, there it goes. forgot about that. episode was too intense and i missed the significance of governor seeing michonne alive with his zombie daughter. |
Quote:
I think the Governor has been pretty good. Not at all what I expected from the GN, but he has been really well acted. Andrea is just awful. I think it must be the actress. Merle is fine in small doses, but he's been getting way too much play lately. Overall, I thought that was a great episode. Glad to see Tyrese join the fray and I love how they're writing Axel. He's a great character. |
Did I miss it somehow (or am brain blank now) or did they completely avoid giving us an Andrea reaction shot in the final scene?
|
Quote:
We got one when they brought out Daryl, but not after the Governor had finished making his little speech about the brothers. |
Quote:
He's at least arguably the 2nd most popular (and memorable) character on the show though, hard not to write to that somewhat. Plus I think they've done a nice job with him in this half-season. Created a little doubt about whether he'd changed his stripes, destroyed that doubt thoroughly, now he's on the brink of becoming a sympathetic character just by comparison/circumstance. And it's been largely entertaining to watch (the hunting party after Michonne in particular), not bad for just 8 episodes. On the other end of the spectrum is the almost unbelievably bad job they've done handling her character. Her katana has more personality and is actually more fun to watch. She's also been perhaps the most poorly handled of all the characters with how they manage the divergence/similarities to the source material. In the original, her focus on the Gov at the same point in the story made sense ... tonight, felt like a huge stretch to think she'd be quite so single-minded. |
Quote:
I'm sure they could write Merle in a way that would make it cool to keep him around for awhile, but at this point my hope/preference is that they keep him insane for the rest of season 3 and send him out in a glorious bloody finale. |
