I don't think so. While, I won't feel betrayed.

They found her scarf, there were body parts and gore everywhere and there was no sign of Carol. So, they assumed she was dead. Not a major leap given the world they live in. They made a grave - a more symbolic gesture than anything else - and put her scarf, maybe some of her belongings, perhaps some gore - if they thought it was her - in the grave and marked it.

Then end.

stevew 11-12-2012 03:56 PM

I mean if the producer says someone is dead, they better be dead.

Draft Dodger 11-12-2012 04:11 PM

I mean if the creators of Lost say the island isn't purgatory, it better not be purgatory

Yes but they made that big scene about how he sacrificed himself so Carol could escape. They wouldnt then kill her off screen. Carol is dead as much as Merle was.

Spoiler

Are we allowed to talk about the phone? I haven't read any of the comics, but my first thought when the phone rang seems to match pretty well with what I think Jon is implying. I didn't even consider anything else.

I would say the first half of Season 2 was boring. The last episode and the last half of Season 2 were maybe the best episodes of the series.

I know I have said that before, too. I know we all got frustrated on the farm, but it surprises me how often Season 2 is dismissed given the last seven episodes.

stevew 11-12-2012 05:24 PM

Save the Last One was a great episode.

Agreed.

I also wonder if the first half of Season 2 might not present itself better if you are watching it on DVD or Netflix, where you don't have to wait forever to see how the farm storyline unfolds.

Exactly my thinking as well.

Def worth the watch. I see you in some of the other threads of shows I watch (GOT, Sons, Homeland) and would think you would enjoy this show. Especially on netflix where you don't have to wait a week for some of the "cliffhangers". That's how I watched it. I know nothing about the comic books so background isn't really needed to folow the show. Just like Sons you will enjoy it more if you don't micromanage every small thing, seems like the people in this thread that don't like the show read way too much into it. ("Why is there orange juice?" "The license plate on the car is not a real Georgia plate")

Draft Dodger 11-13-2012 10:16 AM

I don't care about the license plate, but the orange juice was pretty stupid.

Don't get me wrong I think pointing stuff like that out is funny and do it myself. Just like in the Sons of Anarchy where there is a gunfight with machine guns and grenades just outside Oakland and no media or police attention is paid to it. My point was that some people nitpick and then say they can't watch the show because of it but since DT seemed to enjoy Sons and GOT (that also has whole armies of undead walking around) that he probably wouldn't be bothered by the inconsistancies and would enjoy it.

I was thinking... "I am sure that I, of all people, had a reasonable explanation for the orange juice..."

And I did!

Conan O'Brien had the actress who plays Maggie on recently. They discussed the irritation on blogs that many of the yards in neighborhoods are well groomed as we are a year out. She said they do have signs "please let your grass grow" in shooting areas, but hard to enforce.

JediKooter 11-13-2012 10:44 AM

Yeah, if you start to get pedantic about any fictional show, you're not going to enjoy it. Just sit back, relax and watch it for what it is....entertainment.

DanGarion 11-18-2012 11:42 PM

Wow, great episode tonight. They went a different direction on some things from the comics but I'm loving it. Next week could have some very difficult scenes.

Merle, Hasn't change that's for sure. And that girl sucks at archery, dad must have been proud.

That thought crossed my mind tonight as well.

But they've diverged so much at this point that I felt save in revealing a few things to my kid about where this went in the source material. We're far enough off that beaten path that I don't see any way they would use those directions at this point.

DanGarion 11-19-2012 01:07 AM

Talking Dead was shit tonight, worst guests ever on the show. I really wish they work on getting more people involved in the show instead of just shitty D-List celebrities.

stevew 11-19-2012 01:28 AM

I've become so distracted by Chris Hardwick's nutsack like Adam's Apple that I fond it hard to watch the show. It dances around.

And it was the first one I watched too...not a good first impression for sure.

GoldenEagle 11-19-2012 12:37 PM

I know the Michone character has been really underdeveloped up until this point, but I am guessing that is about to change. Obviously, she has trust issues but she really had no choice but to find Rick's group.

I think this all setting up to be a Rick vs Governor showdown, with Meryl, Darryl, Andrea, and Michone as the under-card.

Andrea has replaced Lori as the most annoying character on the show. I cringe every time she comes on the screen.

Other thoughts from last night:
-The red zone sounds interesting, but I doubt that is ever mentioned again.
-The governor obviously wanted to take no chances with Michone, but I was still surprised they tracked her.
-The defenses of Woodbury look really weak, especially with three more men getting killed.
- I don't know where the whole Carol storyline is going.
-Where was Axel last night? I don't think I saw him at all.

Also, in the previous episode, I think I spotted the Sheriff ammunition bag in the Governor's supply room. If it is the same bag, does that mean they visited the farm at some point? I have no idea where that was left.

Axel was trying to fix the generators just in case they needed them.

I'm glad Carol isn't dead, though I wonder if she's been bit or scratched or something. She did not look to be in good shape.

I noticed what appeared to be Rick's bag there as well. It's possible they went to a farm. I think Andrea talked about it when she first got to Woodbury and Merle might have gone out there to check it out.

I really hope that Michonne isn't all glowers and cryptic words in this next episode. Her interactions with Andrea about the Governor and Woodbury were very "Lostesque" in the vagueries.

"This place isn't what it seems to be..." Great. Thanks, Michonne. Use your words, Michonne. Describe the shot up truck, the blood, the fact that the Governor keeps something in his closet, etc, etc.

I feel bad for poor Glenn and Maggie. They were totally in over their head when up against Merle.

It will be interesting to see what the Governor's reaction is when he finds out Merle lied about Michonne. He can't be happy about all that.

I think Darryl has to kill Merle.

Swaggs 11-19-2012 12:46 PM

I think they said Axel was working on the generator or doing something electrical.

I liked that episode pretty well, but I hope we don't have to see another one that features so much Merle and Andrea again for awhile. I can only stomach so much over-acting in an hour. :)

I dunno, Merle's insistence on getting that guy's name right ... that was gold. It was perfectly Merle.

GoldenEagle 11-19-2012 12:54 PM

Yea, I thought Merle made the episode last night. It is not surprising he got the jump on Glen and Maggie.

There was another comment that Daryl made last night that is building the animosity between the two. Something to the effect of when Merle wasn't around, he got to go outside and play with other kids.

Andrea had the gun bag when she left the farm.

I tried to start watching it at the start of this season... its just not what I'm looking for to compliment the show and a waste of 30 minutes for me, I got rid of it after watching it for 3 weeks. I don't feel I learn anything interesting from it and the celebrity guests who are not attached to the show in any way are completely pointless. I like Wil Wheaton, I think he's an interesting dude, but I have no interest in setting aside time to listen to him speculate about what's happening. I'd rather do that with people I know and in threads like this and be involved in the discussion. The other guest that they have that is actually involved with the show doesn't add enough to me to make it worth the time.

stevew 11-19-2012 04:21 PM

I think there are a few worthwhile segments on the show. I'm always a sucker for In Memoriam and for the quick facts segment.

I will agree that last night's episode was as bad as any episode yet.

Also, why do they insist on giving Kevin Smith's jackoff buddies a half hour of that shitty show. I'd prefer a longer talking dead, where every segment wasn't completely rushed. And assuming 1/2 of the people on stage is at least a part of the show. Silverman or Madden would have been fine, but not both together.

Agree on both counts. Watching Merle decide how to deal with people when he has a little leadership responsibility, and watching him decide what to tell the Governor about what happened was by far the most interesting and best parts of last week for me. Its no surprise that Glen doesn't have it in him to kill a person yet, even an obvious thread like Merle.

I've never liked Andrea and fastforwarded through some of the stuff with her and the governor last night once I got the general idea of what was happening. Its the first time I've fastforwarded through anything this season (compared to last year, where I skipped over almost every conversation Lori had with anyone and just read a couple reviews to see if anything important happened in them).

I'm very much looking forward to Michonne at the prison and pushing things towards everyone meeting up and having some kind of huge conflict. I'm very hopeful that will both pull Rick out of his funk that he's in since Lori died, and also that it will add some much needed depth to Michonne's character.

stevew 11-19-2012 04:26 PM

I also find myself itching to fast forward through any Andrea scene as well.

Draft Dodger 11-19-2012 08:03 PM

I disliked Andrea from day one. By far the most annoying character (and not a huge fan of the actress either).

Same here.

Jas_lov 11-19-2012 10:25 PM

They don't know how to write female characters. They've all been terrible like Lori and Andrea or underdeveloped like Michonne. Maggie is the only tolerable one and she'll probably take the brunt of the punishment next week as Glenn gives up the prison location.

This is obviously headed for a showdown. Merle vs Daryl, Rick vs Governor, Andrea vs Michonne, Carl vs Girl who can't shoot a bow and arrow.

The show hasn't really had a great female character. Maggie has been the most solid throughout.

I still have hopes for Michonne, but they are dwindling with each episode.

well, there's a lot of problems with the male characters as well. I think they do zombies well, people not so much.

Just came across a spoiler that a pretty prominent character early in the comic series has finally been cast and will, at some point, appear on the show.

I Googled, it was what I suspected it was. Makes sense I think. More "spoilerish" for me was info about two addt'l characters that Kirkman has confirmed would be added at some point in the future, altered my suspicions about how certain things would play out on TV vs the comic.

Draft Dodger 11-20-2012 09:05 PM

yes, very pleased with both bits of news. definitely a fan of the actor cast

stevew 11-20-2012 10:09 PM

Who are the other peeps? I only see one casting announcement. I'm also not sure this is that big of a spoiler really.

Spoiler

Upon further reflection, I don't guess that info actually changes my expectations as much as I previously thought it did. I was initially mixed up about who one of those other characters was.

stevew 11-20-2012 10:32 PM

There's only 2 episodes left this fall. Should be interesting to see what kind of midseason cliffhanger we get.

Also, I really think they could throw together some 2 hour TV movie type specials and make some bank. Bring back dead characters for a one-off

The cold-storage webisodes were worth watching if you haven't seen them. I like that kind of stuff...stories set in a world but dont involve our group.

Spoiler

stevew 11-25-2012 08:49 PM

That Glenn set piece was inspired greatness.

JonInMiddleGA 11-25-2012 08:51 PM

ROTFLMAO ... that KFC commercial probably wasn't what you'd call ideal placement given the scene seconds before

JonInMiddleGA 11-25-2012 09:04 PM

Okay, who went down at the prison in the preview? Was that Carol or Lolita?

gi 11-25-2012 09:26 PM

Loved the end of episode music. Set the mood.

GoldenEagle 11-25-2012 09:27 PM

Pretty good episode setting us up for the mid-season finale. It looks like a lot of human v human fighting next week. I still don't think Woodbury has much firepower, but there is only four of Rick's group there.
