Yup. That's exactly one of the main jobs of the refs out there.

You somehow disagree?

Another infamous Howard elbow caught Z in the face, he was pissed, ready to retaliate. Varajev got away with a charge on the other end, Orlando gets pissed and starts getting pushy. Then Howard comes back, Varajev hangs on him like a 3 year old that doesn't want to let go of daddy, but Howard finishes.

Howard turns around and screams in Varajev's face.

It's not hard to see where this can easily go next.

Again, this is the refs jobs. You can not like it all you want, but if you want, "no blood, no foul" go to the playground.

Again, what were they preventing? They did not prevent the elbow, they did not prevent Z from retaliating (He did that on his own), they did not control Varejao's play. Finally, they called the foul on Varejao when he committed it? The refs anticipated a problem instead of calling the problem as they saw it. To me, that is where you have a problem

miami_fan 05-26-2009 10:05 PM

Uh oh another elbow. There should be a T coming

k0ruptr 05-26-2009 10:08 PM

This series is fantastic

Fixed.

My interest in the NBA has diminished a lot in favor of the NCAA game the last few years, but this round has really drawn me back into the NBA.

Much Agreed

Ronnie Dobbs2 05-26-2009 10:15 PM

Wow.

k0ruptr 05-26-2009 10:15 PM

I can see the cavs getting 2 and then OT.

miami_fan 05-26-2009 10:15 PM

Interesting screen by Howard.

wade moore 05-26-2009 10:16 PM

Someone's been reading this thread...

"You're telling me Stan Van Gundy's not a great coach? What a play!"

haha

henry296 05-26-2009 10:17 PM

That looked like a heave from Lewis when he had much more time. He was so lucky it went in.

wade moore 05-26-2009 10:18 PM

David Stern must have called down during that timeout.

miami_fan 05-26-2009 10:18 PM

I don't know why the Magic is upset. That was the best play

miami_fan 05-26-2009 10:18 PM

Call the 20 Stan

Noop 05-26-2009 10:19 PM

He will miss it so the talking heads have something to talk about in the morning.

Noop 05-26-2009 10:19 PM

Wow. Thank goodness I was wrong.

RainMaker 05-26-2009 10:19 PM

LOL at that being a foul.

Jas_lov 05-26-2009 10:19 PM

Doug Collins is an idiot. "What a great play! SVG is a genius!" Lewis did a 360 and chucked up a luckbox 3, yeah what a genius.

I had my, "somewhere Gilbert Arenas is laughing his ass off" line ready.

Didn't get to use it though.

Lathum 05-26-2009 10:20 PM

The Magic are lucky that went in. Varejo was right there to tip it in if it missed

yy - great UIC there.

MrBug708 05-26-2009 10:20 PM

While Im surprised that the foul was called, I really shouldn't be

I have no idea how the Magic allowed him to get that position - no excuse for that.

wade moore 05-26-2009 10:21 PM

Wow.

k0ruptr 05-26-2009 10:21 PM

How was that not a foul on howard?

wade moore 05-26-2009 10:21 PM

HORRIBLE no call.

just wow.

MrBug708 05-26-2009 10:21 PM

Poor Dwight Howard

RainMaker 05-26-2009 10:21 PM

LOL at that not being a foul.

On Howard? Really?

Noop 05-26-2009 10:21 PM

Nice no call.

RainMaker 05-26-2009 10:22 PM

Those last two plays are why I bet on the Cavs to win the series.

Ronnie Dobbs2 05-26-2009 10:22 PM

*shurg*

I didn't think it was a foul.

Atocep 05-26-2009 10:22 PM

That was a foul on Howard, if anyone. He did the arm wrap takedown to try and draw a call on Varejao. I give the refs credit, though. Most fall for it.

it was quick but it looked like before they were in position Howard grabbed verejao and yanked him. maybe I saw it wrong

Radii 05-26-2009 10:23 PM

if you're going to call a foul on that last play i'd call it on howard too.

Ronnie Dobbs2 05-26-2009 10:23 PM

I'm not sure if I'm reading into it too much, but I get the feeling that RainMaker is one of those NBA-conspiracy types.

I think it was to keep his balance since he was being pushed out of bounds.

I would have preferred a double foul had been called since both players did foul.

Radii 05-26-2009 10:23 PM

dola, but i would rather see the no-call.

kingfc22 05-26-2009 10:23 PM

what a bs foul call there.

wade moore 05-26-2009 10:24 PM

Huh.

I felt liek Varjeo clearly fouled him and after time was out Howard came down and grabbed him.

kingfc22 05-26-2009 10:24 PM

Dola. Mike Brown = worst coach ever

Radii 05-26-2009 10:25 PM

yeah, watching the replay, if anything howard grabbed varajo's arm and yanked him before the pass was even thrown. That looked like it was *entirely* howard.

RainMaker 05-26-2009 10:25 PM

I think the no-call is more glaring since Lebron drew a foul by diving into a player.

BrianD 05-26-2009 10:26 PM

I was going to complain about both the last two plays, but after the last replay, I think the no-call was right. Howard pulled Varjeo off-balance to make him foul.

I laughed...then I laughed that once again with the game seconds away from being won SVG sets up a defense to ALLOW the MVP to catch the ball uncontested. Big surprise - Lebron saved the day again. Maybe next time SVG will try to let someone else beat them but I doubt it.

This is reasonable. James did as much to initiate contact as Howard did. Neither should have been called, but calling only one of them is pretty poor.

k0ruptr 05-26-2009 10:28 PM

LBJ still needs more help from his teammates

Noop 05-26-2009 10:28 PM

Howard is hungry.

Noop 05-26-2009 10:28 PM

What a BS foul call.
