I have no idea who she is or what she's done, but apparently in one of the pics she still is wearing fake tats from some movie she was in soooo....

Well I went with a brand new drum ($90) because I didn't want to deal with the crap of finding and preparing a used drum. So that was the biggest cost.

2 grills for meat $10 each
1 grill for charcoal box $10
4x8 piece of expanded metal (which was way more than the 1 1/2' x 5' I needed) $30
Ball Valve $10
Assorted bolts, nuts, screws, etc $15

johnnyshaka 06-02-2011 04:03 PM

Thanks, DG...seems like a pretty cost effective smoker and a nice conversation piece, too!

Looking forward to seeing your rig in action!

wade moore 06-02-2011 06:36 PM

FWIW - I have an absolutely amazing electric smoker that I would highly recommend that is about $150:

Masterbuilt

I figured you'd say that.

If you look at how it works and read up on it, there is some debate - but it's virtually exactly the same.

You are still cooking the meat with smoke, it's just being ignited by an electric element, rather than coals.

The advantage? Completely consistent temperature with no need to play with coals, etc. And the taste is if not exactly the same, within a small enough variance that most pallets won't notice.

The only thing you lose is the "experience" of slaving over coals and fighting with getting the right temps, etc.

Her publicist had no problem pointing out where to look for them as well.

The problem with most electrics is that they are too small. Anyway, I was just joking with you, hence the smile.

wade moore 06-03-2011 11:49 AM

Gotcha. Well, the one I have I can't imagine is any smaller than yours - and I suspect holds more as it has 3 racks.

This is truly a name I'd never even heard before this thread. If I had to guess without any context, I would have said it's the name of a male soccer player.

Watch it. My daughter is named Blake.

Ksyrup 06-03-2011 12:09 PM

Didn't mean any offense, simply that I'd think any person named Blake was a male without other information.

This actually interests me - does anyone have an idea why Blake was such a popular female name in the late 80s/early 90s? I notice that Blake Lively was born in 1987, too. It's far more popular now as a boy's name (which makes sense, as my kids are young and I know tons of male Blakes).

You really want to know? It is going to make you laugh.

Blake Lindsey (Marler, Spalding, etc.) was a charatcter on Guiding Light. We were leaning toward a boy-ish name, and almost went with Sam. But that was too common, Blake was not, and she shares my intials. The character from the soap is why it was a popular name.

JediKooter 06-03-2011 12:16 PM

Blake Edwards?

Hahahahahahaha ... I use to watch that show religiously ...

I assume you liked the name and didn't name her because you liked the character? :D

GrantDawg 06-03-2011 12:18 PM

BTW, that graph was cool. But yeah, it proves my point. It was only popular during the period the character was active on the show (played for a long while by the impressive Sherrie Stringfield).

Well, it was the name we liked. It didn't hurt that she was also our favorite character. Get your mocking caps on.....her name is Lyndsey Blake.

Considering Teen Mom resulted in two of the biggest popularity jumps among baby names in 2010, I guess I'm not surprised by that.

Baby names Maci and Bentley increased in popularity the most because of Teen Mom + reality blurred

Yeah, that site is a fascinating time-killer. And seeing names rise and fall like that over time, and trying to make the connection, is fun.

Terrible graphic work. The sunlight and shadows aren't even rendered right. Jeeze.

Just got royally owned.

That's one of the worst attempts to "own" religious people I have seen. It's like they complain about the lack of understanding by religious people and yet themselves show near no real knowledge of what some religions teach. It's trolling on an amateurish level.

Yup. I find that post really, really offensive. But also sad. Because in accusing others of willfully ignoring reality, it ... willfully ignores reality. But this is a pictures thread, not a theology/religious debate thread. So I will simply post my protest and attempt to avoid a threadjack. Carry on with pictures that may or may not be deemed "so cool they belong in this thread."

jeff061 06-03-2011 04:23 PM

I could only make it through a cliche'd pane or two before my interest was lost and I am not remotely a religious person. Why would the targets of that comic bother reading it enough to legitimately be offended?

JediKooter 06-03-2011 04:31 PM

Good thing there weren't any midgets or cars in that pic.

rowech 06-03-2011 04:31 PM

What's funny is the fact that people who don't believe in a God believe in a religion as well.

I really hope if there is a God that people who create and post such things get them thrown back into their face on judgement day.

jeff061 06-03-2011 04:33 PM

lol. Post an "offensive" picture you deserve to be tortured for eternity!!!!!

For the love of god the commentary on that pic is more idiotic than the pic itself. I apologize for contributing but I can't help myself :(.

Could you explain that one please?

jeff061 06-03-2011 04:37 PM

I'm sure it's the whole you have to have faith to not believe or some BS. We can just stop talking about this.

JediKooter 06-03-2011 04:41 PM

The only thing that I can think of that is remotely close to what he is referring to is deism. But, deism is actually backwards from that. So, I haven't a clue as to what religions exist that don't believe in a god or gods.

Doug5984 06-03-2011 04:44 PM

So everyone saw those Blake Lively pics right? (tries to get thread back on track)

JediKooter 06-03-2011 04:47 PM

I saw some pics of her. Don't know if they were "the" pics though. I have to say, nice body, but, her face is just meh.
