Great feeling knowing the fate of the country on a daily basis won’t hinge on a deranged narcissist moving forward from today.

Hopefully Biden can bring some sense of normalcy to DC and defeat COVID in 2021.

I don't think that there will be a longer honeymoon than normal and barely a longer honeymoon than what Trump got. Just looking at the list that was tweeted, I can already hear the push back for most things on that list. I am talking about push back from the left as well as the right. One thing I don't have a feel for is how much those things would actually offend Republicans and how much of it just would not appeal to Trump supporters. I know that for some, those two groups are one and the same but I think people understand (not necessarily agree with) the distinction I am making. Like how many Republicans are willing to go the bat against stopping the wall build or engaging the WHO to help get control of COVID? I know the number is higher than zero but is it enough to make those issues actual battlegrounds? I don't know.

miami_fan 01-20-2021 10:09 AM

All right, who invited A-Rod to the event? That might kill off the honeymoon right there.

Edward64 01-20-2021 10:22 AM

Those are thick panes of glass (?).

JediKooter 01-20-2021 10:30 AM

Ok the guy wiping down the podium isn't wearing gloves....dude...

Edward64 01-20-2021 10:38 AM

People are already bitching about the $1,400 thing.

Edward64 01-20-2021 10:40 AM

Yeah a fist bump. No explosion though

They are wipes I thought at first he was going to be one of the speakers. I bet he wishes he had Snickers right about now though.

kingfc22 01-20-2021 10:44 AM

Just a friendly reminder that the oath of office states that you will protect the US from threats foreign and DOMESTIC...

JediKooter 01-20-2021 10:44 AM

Whoa! Thought the Rock was dressed up as J-lo there for a second.

sovereignstar v2 01-20-2021 10:45 AM

Nice of J-Lo to cover herself up this time around.

Edward64 01-20-2021 10:46 AM

Shouldn’t they be ushering VP Harris into a safe room right now :)

Edward64 01-20-2021 10:47 AM

CarterNMA 01-20-2021 10:48 AM

That's a HUGE Bible! A family heirloom, I hear. Wow.

JediKooter 01-20-2021 10:49 AM

Good lord, that bible is huge! They should have used a smaller font.

Just saw that J-Lo is performing because others were wondering the same thing.

miami_fan 01-20-2021 10:51 AM

Politics aside, Joe Biden becoming US President after the life he has already lived is a hell of a journey.

Edward64 01-20-2021 10:52 AM

Somewhere the nuclear football is in limbo. I heard it doesn’t get swapped until 12 noon (I think)

Ksyrup 01-20-2021 11:01 AM

So has Fox News transitioned to talk of the Biden Coup for taking the oath 10 minutes early?

No but I liked her outfit.

Edward64 01-20-2021 11:15 AM

A long day for Pence. Bet he’s glad the nightmare is over for him.

Edward64 01-20-2021 11:18 AM

Amazing Grace is pretty amazing. Have to look up the history

I believe they just let Lady Gaga hold it for a bit.

miami_fan 01-20-2021 11:20 AM

Uhh guys, I know it is a bit early and it is going to be an adjustment for everyone.

Just a bit of advice. It is probably a good idea to acknowledge the VP of the US before you go to acknowledge with the Second Gentleman instead of the opposite way around.

We get so cynical about people once they reach the top, but Bidens' and Harris' journeys are both very different, but so incredible and inspiring. They didn't just observe and critique, they jumped into the fray and never left, opened themselves up to that lifetime of stress and failure and disappointment and sacrifice.

JediKooter 01-20-2021 11:30 AM

A breath of fresh air hearing a president not sound like a vile pile of crap.

miami_fan 01-20-2021 11:32 AM

Anybody else's family chat just filled with AKA related material and people just saying "AMEN!"? No? Just me I guess.

Definitely that! Man, that's a huge one.

ISiddiqui 01-20-2021 11:46 AM

Very good inauguration ceremony. I am going to be amused when the far right tries to portray Biden as anti Christian - as the ceremony and speech was steeped in religion.

He stuttered twice during a high energy speech = senile

And one of the times was during rural so he hates red America and farmers!

SI

bob 01-20-2021 12:00 PM

Well, lots of evangelicals don't see Catholics as Christian, so....

Ksyrup 01-20-2021 12:08 PM

Took barely an hour but I got my first spam email confirmation for enrollment in Bidencare.

Kodos 01-20-2021 12:13 PM

Thank god Trump is gone. Whew! We made it.

Hell, my priest said 12 years ago when Biden was in town campaigning for VP that he wouldn't serve him Communion, so I don't think as many Catholics claim him either.

ISiddiqui 01-20-2021 12:22 PM

That's a really small number of Catholics in proportion. They may object to pro life Catholics but denying communion is a nuclear option reserved for mostly asshole priests.

Watching him sign the executive orders right now, and my 17 year old decries, "He's not even reading the terms and conditions!"

I just died. He's the funny one in the family.

If you've traveled Catholic circles in the South, that most of them.

Bernie's mittens were the real hero of the day!

molson 01-20-2021 01:36 PM

I was thinking how Bernie must love the fact that he has to social distance from everyone but then I realized I was confusing him with Larry David.

CrimsonFox 01-20-2021 01:38 PM

I think the mice from hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy have arrived to take over the planet...

This far after Christmas, this is an interesting statement that needs some background.

Edward64 01-20-2021 02:14 PM

The Biden, Bush, Clinton, Obama families at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was pretty cool. It looked pretty cold & windy, there was a least one soldier, standing at attention, whose peaked cap had blown off.
