So I'm a little late to the party having just watched "Boy in the Striped Pajamas."

Paced evenly if a little slow for a bulk of the movie however had probably the most intense last 10 minutes of any movie around. Recommend if you are feeling like an emotional historical drama.

Izulde 04-15-2014 12:28 PM

So I just spent the morning watching The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret and now I'm like, "...What the fuck did I just watch?" It was hilarious and yet so, so wrong on so many levels.

Honolulu_Blue 04-15-2014 12:30 PM

I am not an anime fan and nor have I watched this series, but the folks I know who do like anime - some more than others - all rave about "Attack On Titan."

It's available via Netflix streaming now.

Absolutely loved that show.

Holy Rollers: The Story of Card-Counting Christians

Fun movie documenting the rise of a group of card counters based in a church.

It took some time to warm up to the show, but it was rather fun once I did. I had completely forgotten about it until now though.

What's New On Netflix In May 2014: 'Scandal,' 'Forrest Gump' 'Kill Bill' And More

Izulde 05-03-2014 10:41 AM

So I'm going to be binge-watching on May 17th.

Izulde 05-11-2014 04:07 PM

For Downton Abbey fans, The Paradise is what I like to call Downton Abbey: The Retail Store Edition. It's not quite as good as DA, but it's a worthy viewing for fans, especially for those of us who have ever worked retail. I was binging on it last night and will finish out Season 1 tonight or tomorrow probably.

It also got picked up for a second season, it appears.

Matthean 05-28-2014 04:58 PM

Rectify, which doesn't seem to get talked about on here. Six episode first season that was very good and the 6th episode was amazing.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Very interesting show.

stevew 05-28-2014 07:03 PM

Easily one of the best shows on TV.

dave731 05-29-2014 02:37 PM

I haven't checked lately but have they updated Sherlock yet?

House MD. Ok it's a old show but I've never watched it till now. Excellent show!
And it doesn't hurt that Jennifer Morrison is freaking cute.

They just added Season 3 plus additional content.

The wife and I never watched it either, but we're ripping through it on Netflix. Loving it.

Matthean 06-02-2014 11:13 PM

Dear Mr. Watterson. Decent documentary on the significance of Calvin and Hobbes.

chadritt 06-02-2014 11:32 PM

I have a buddy interviewed in that...I havent watched yet because Ive heard incredibly bad things about it. Edit: Track down the doc "stripped" if you can, its really great.

Mizzou B-ball fan 06-03-2014 12:16 AM

Watched the 'Monarchy (UK)' series. I wasn't well-versed on the English Monarchy. Was a great way to learn that part of history.

Orange is the New Black is back!

Julio Riddols 06-07-2014 12:24 AM

Ginger Baker fans might like Beware of Mr. Baker. Great story, crazy dude.

stevew 06-15-2014 08:09 AM

While it remains one of my favorite shows, I thought the back end of s2 of Orange is the New Black was a bit iffy. Just to speak generally, I thought we got way too much Crazy Eyes and I thought the tonal differences were iffy. This isn't supposed to be Oz

tarcone 06-15-2014 08:45 AM

I saw an interview with Crazy Eyes. The actor said the producers thought season one was too much like Summer camp and they wanted to show more of what prison was really like.
I really enjoyed season 2. I liked the flashbacks of the women in their previous lives and how they got there. Also, the V thing kept it tense.

A great season.

Do yourself a favor and stop after about 1/3rd of the way into season 4. :)

Izulde 06-15-2014 09:08 AM

I thought S2 was weaker than S1, but still quite good. The way the season ended in particular was awesome.

Coffee Warlord 06-15-2014 09:36 AM

Heh, funny. I thought S2 was the best season overall.

Sweed 06-15-2014 09:53 AM

Put me in the liked season 2 better group. Both were entertaining though and well worth watching.

I'm not sure at what point it becomes stop worthy. I felt entertained several seasons but there does come a point where it just starts to feel so repetitive.

Been waiting for this news to drop. One of my good buddies is a writer/regular on the show. Ian Karmel, check out his stand up!

Which is the reason why I only have basic cable. And now I just got Amazon Prime so I may never leave the house. Well I guess I do have to work.

Yeah, if we keep Netflix we are going to have to dumb down our movie channels via Direct TV. I can't see paying for all of those movie channels if we have netflix.

Mizzou B-ball fan 07-20-2014 04:43 PM

My daughter really enjoyed DC Cupcakes. Certainly isn't an in-depth viewing experience, but she's an artistic girl and really loved seeing how they could turn food into art.

PilotMan 07-20-2014 11:09 PM

If you liked This is the End and Hot Tub Time Machine and you don't mind laughing at the book of Revelation, Rapturepalooza was good for some laughs and little thought.

Julio Riddols 07-20-2014 11:41 PM

Yeah, I thought Rapturepalooza was decent. I think 'It's a Disaster' might be the best "apocalypse comedy" though.

I mean, it's not going to wow you compared to The Wire or anything (which I've only heard about, not seen), but..I think from what I've seen that it's worth checking out for a few episodes. I've seen two so far and I do want to watch more even as I've wiki'd to see what happens next.

Curious if anyone else ever kept up with Luther? I've probably watched 12 of the 14 episodes (broken into 3 miniseries) in the past week. I'll agree the plot isn't as complex as some other shows (much more of a "How will Luther get the guy?" instead of a typical whodunit with a late reveal), but Idris Elba is just so good, and between cinematography and music I really like the mood. I guess the future plan is to make a movie? But for now all 14 episodes are up, and worth watching imo.

It's in my queue but i've never started it.

I'm liking this more and more. No "Company Man" type of episode that Heroes had but obviously a show that's more than just a single season worth watching.

I hadn't realized Django Unchained was on instantly already. Catching Fire is on there as well, so I tossed that in my queue as I liked The Hunger Games.

PadresFan104 11-03-2014 05:19 PM

Just watched "Zulu" on Netflix Instant. Wanted to get some history since I just bought the "Zulu's on the Ramparts" board game.

Movie was actually a lot better than I expected!!

PilotMan 11-09-2014 10:18 PM

Nebraska is available to stream. It's a character study about aging and dealing with aging parents. Bruce Dern was very good. Certainly worth a watch.

chinaski 12-01-2014 07:19 PM

Watch Black Mirror Online | Netflix

Charlie Brooker can do no wrong. Heavily sci-fi based with a twilight zone slant. Really one of the better shows to come around in the last 5 years.
