I'll promise them a fair review, that I can tell you. I don't want a train wreck. I'll review it on its own merits and give it a fair score. I'm not sure I could help sales at this point though. All in all, I think I'm going to do it. It's really a win/win for me. If it's a great game, I purchased a great game. If it's not, I'll post screen shots and observations here and will get a ton of entertainment out of what you guys come up with. |

Now you're trying to be all casual and cool about it. Just admit you were trying to bust a move. |

I'm actually interested in a fair review. While I think the chances this game will be worth buying are remote, there's also not a lot of others coming down the pike. I suspect most of the people who buy the game will love it, but those are the same people who had trouble admitting the down/yardage bug was a problem. |
i'm more interested in a review that resembles this thread
|
has there ever been this many posts on all the FOF related topics than there is on this thread?

I looked at this thread for like the first time today on page #37. it's too damn funny. Now I'm going to spend the next week reading pages 1-36 and anything later. I must find these threads before they get past 5 pages next time.
could somone just PM everyone when one of these gets going next time? thanks |
I think we need a thread with a collection of all the good pictures and videos
|
THIS IS AN UNBELIEVABLE VIDEO AND I AM SURPRISED NOBODY MENTIONED IT YET!!!
Updated/upscaled for YouTube: |
Quote:
The video of the kickoff where the players on the end of the front line looked like they were about 10 to 15 yards off the sideline were great. Talk about asking the other team to do an easily recovered onside kick. |
Uhhh guys?
Has anyone seen the shot of their loading screen? It looks kinda familiar... ![]() |
Quote:
lol....I am starting to collect these pictures. |

Brilliant! Imagine if FOFC used its powers for good instead of evil. ;) |
Oh holy fucking hell, Antmeister is THE KING! :D :D :D :D :D

Dude, I'm dying here, trying to keep from bust out laughing at work. How you were able to sing this without cracking up is beyond me. Utter brilliance. |
Wow, just wow. Congrats Mr. Ant.
|
Thanks people, but the pics that people provided in this thread made the video that much more funnier IMHO. Good work to all who contributed to the pics that made me laugh uncontrollobly in the past few days.
|
Best. Football. Song. Ever.

While I appreciate the Ant's movie, I invite you all to take this little brain teaser test.

Antmeister, dude, you're making people around me at work think I'm losing it, man. Definately NOT SAFE FOR WORK! Because it's too damned funny to watch at work. Awesome! I'm in tears once again.
The is the thread that never ends. And I'm seriously starting to hope the game is never released now. |
this thread has become my life
i work all day and rush home to read whatever briliance i've missed. And i find myself refreshing all night. I've never been so proud to be a member of FOFC as i am right now. Way to go gentlemen! |

Damn. they deleted that one quick.

Very impressive list. That'll be the end of Horns on the board though. . . buh bye. . .
|
Man it's like shooting fish in a barrel over there. So many people with so much hope, I hope it doesn't disapoint them.

Antmeister...brilliant stuff man. You made perfect use of all the ridiculous shit we've put in there. |

Hubris does not mean pride, at least in Greek. In my lexicon it is translated as "wantonness, wanton violence, insolence." Second definition is "lewdness." After that, there are some horse and legal usages. It may mean "pride" in English, but it never meant or implied that in Greek. |
I honestly wonder if Bubba still checks in on this thread periodically.

I posted quite a few pages ago, but it is insane. I have enjoyed this thread so much that it is simply unbelievable. To all the FOFC community congrats cuz the thread is worth more than the game itself.
Antmeister, your stuff was simply amazing. |

![]() Maybe this game wouldn't have gone south if the original gold master wasn't destroyed in a munitions fire at the Parthenon a thousand years ago. EDIT: This is my first work using the GIMP 2. Damn, that was difficult. So many things that i could do so easily in photoshop created a hassle to do in the GIMP. |

As a side note, I had a horrible dream last night and I woke up to Antmeister's captivating song. Our little girl said, "Daddy's horrible voice gave mommy a horrible nightmare". :D :D :D
Kids say the darndest things don't they? Heh, I'm messing with you Ant, it was freaking AWESOME!! |
hmmm.... are we being watched? |
Could someone please Ping Bubba? I'm worried I'm wearing my welcome rather thin, so I better not instigate anything by pinging him :)
I just miss his wonderful posts :( |
I'm reading this thread in dual-mode. I'm up to page 24, yet have been reading the end since page 36 or so.
Lucky for me, no pudding when I listened to antmeister's song. Pure brilliance. |

I'm doing the same... I'm currently on pg. 1, so I have a LOOOOOONG way to go. |

He's probably just looking for some info on the game, because you certainly can't get any answers over there. |
That song was amazing.. I'm going to request it on my local radio, hopefully they've got it already!

Holy shit there has been some funny stuff posted since I left work.
Well done gents! |

Man.. I stopped working at about 4:00... there has been a page and a half and 2,500 views since then... there must be f5 keys crying in pain across the world..
Pure Genius ant... and all of the graphics guys... the weird thing about this thread is it is really bringing out some creative talent on FOFC that I had no idea about... QS and JG limmericking... BG's photoshoping... CW's photoshopping.. more masterpieces from cuervo... i know others have done photoshopping that i missed... TZ's jokes over on MF... It's great how we can come together as a community and create such a masterpiece. |

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=hubris I find it difficult to belive that the word hubris in the English language would be used so extensively in conjunction with the ancient Greeks unless the word had origins in that language. |

I know I'm very late to reply to this but just got to sit down in front of the PC at home and this was posted during my commute home. Antmeister, you magnificent bastard! I just can't stop laughing, the logos coming down and then up, that was just great! Dear God, my side, it hurts :D :D :D And then, I looked a couple posts down and there was the "LOADING GAEM" screenshot, woah, there I went again... :D :D woah, laughing is great! FM |
Quote:
It does come from a Greek word, but the word NEVER meant pride in that language. That is a relatively recent mis-interpretation of Greek philosophy/theology, which I also remember hearing in high school. Not one classics scholar in ten would back that up, though. If you don't believe me, consult some Greek dictionaries. The one I have is from Oxford press. |
*looks at who is viewing the thead*
HI ERIK RUTINS!!!! *waves frantically* |
Quote:
I think "insolence" (from the definition you dug up, st. c) is likely the bridge between your perspectives -- the connotation of being disrespectful or arrogant isn't all that far of what we might now call "pride." I would suggest that might be a fair trace of the word history. |
Same here, FrogMan. I just got home and could listen.
It's officially over. Nothing can top that. The moment Casey Casem appeared on screen may be the single greatest moment in Internet history. |
Quote:
I think that makes sense. I was taught that hubris means suffering from excess pride which means something different than being proud. |

Nice Cuervo!

Quote:
WOW You have mad skillz cuervo. |

Possibly. The most common usage in classical texts, though, is one meaning "violent." also, bravo cuervo. |
Although I think "Max Football Goes Gold" would be more Dewey-like.
