So some more details came out on that weird Rand Paul assault. Sounds like two old guys being passive-aggressive about their lawns.

As a homeowner, this doesn't surprise me. This reminds me of people in my neighborhood.

We make the best movies. And this is what we can produce. I mean I know most Hollywood folks are going to be anti-Trump, but there's got to be someone out there. It's too long, too boring and not enough explosions.

Neon_Chaos 06-13-2018 05:09 AM

Funny how Trump gets along so well and admires authoritarians and dictators.

Yeah I figured that it was some petty stuff like that. Trump should pardon this guy just to piss off Rand.

There is no longer a nuclear threat? As low as my bar is set for the man, he still crawls under it.

Sanford has now conceded

Trump loves him some Corey Stewart:

Congratulations to Corey Stewart for his great victory for Senator from Virginia. Now he runs against a total stiff, Tim Kaine, who is weak on crime and borders, and wants to raise your taxes through the roof. Don’t underestimate Corey, a major chance of winning!

This may not get to Trump. But if I were some random NYC white-collar criminal who used Cohen to help me get away with shit, I'd be looking at countries without extradition treaties right about now.

Extradition law in the United States - Wikipedia

Essentially Africa, the Middle East, and segments of Asia and Eastern Europe.

If you have enough money, you can also stay a step ahead of the authorities anywhere. The 'ole Marc Rich strategy.

JPhillips 06-13-2018 10:50 AM

The obvious answer is Russia, right?

edit: or see if the Ecuadoran embassy is still renting space.

Thomkal 06-13-2018 11:04 AM

woot on Cohen potential flipping. Plus likely Manafort going to jail this week too. Such winning Donald :)

Or my favorite rich dude tactic--fake your own death, get plastic surgery, and live the rest of your life on a tropical island like Ken Lay.

(Yes, I know that this is just a conspiracy theory, but I believe it 100%)

JPhillips 06-13-2018 11:29 AM

From the WSJ on January 18.

Quote:

Around the same time, Mr. Trump had an idea about how to counter the nuclear threat posed by North Korea, which he got after speaking to Russian President Vladimir Putin : If the U.S. stopped joint military exercises with the South Koreans, it could help moderate Kim Jong Un’s behavior.

So nice that Trump's getting concession ideas from Putin.

Weirdest passage:

Quote:

9. The private bathroom. In addition to his bullet-proof limousine and body guards, Kim brought with him another essential: His own private bathroom. Lee Yun Keol, a former member of a North Korean Guard Command unit, told The Washington Post the extra cargo is more of a precaution than luxury. “The leader's excretions contain information about his health status so they can't be left behind,” he said. yeah I agree actually. Look like he is low on money (awwww!) and needed to ditch the expensive guys. I won't believe Cohen has flipped until he's pleading guilty to some of the charges.

Trump gets a nice birthday present from the NY Attorney General-a lawsuit for the Trump Foundation. Here's his reply:

Donald J. Trump‏Verified account @realDonaldTrump

The sleazy New York Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) A.G. Eric Schneiderman, are doing everything they can to sue me on a foundation that took in $18,800,000 and gave out to charity more money than it took in, $19,200,000. I won’t settle this case!.

And just like Trump U and numerous other lawsuits, yes you will settle (or try at least)

Thomkal 06-14-2018 01:15 PM

Gee, you would have thought Comey would have thought, given what he was inestigating that perhaps it wasn't a good idea to use a personal email account?

Thomkal 06-14-2018 01:43 PM

Republicans already calling for original drafts from the independent IG report because they are "concerned that "people may have changed the report in a way that obfuscates your findings"

Report says no political bias that the Republicans have claimed for a year in the works of. Comey, Page, or Strzok

albionmoonlight 06-14-2018 01:54 PM

Thomkal 06-14-2018 01:55 PM

In fact there were Pro-Trump agents in the NY FBI office who Comey felt would leak confidential information in an attempt to get him to interfere with the election thus adding to his agreement to reveal the reopening of the Clinton email investigation.

RainMaker 06-14-2018 02:20 PM

The FBI is a rather conservative agency. Kind of funny to see conspiracy morons thinking it's run by Democrats.

It doesn't help that the media is running with "OMG those texts" rather than "Comey manipulated the election."

Reading through it, the foundation was bizarre. Didn't list any employees and they didn't spend any money on a lawyer. You'd have to think if they spent just a few bucks on a lawyer to make it look semi-legit it'd be fine. There are tons of charities that are scams that skirt the law.

I guess this is why he was so against the Johnson amendment.

According to David Farenthold:

Quote:

It's true: @realDonaldTrump's Fdn had 0 employees, no board meetings, and spent v. little on lawyers: its legal expenses averaged nine dollars per year.

digamma 06-14-2018 04:53 PM

I actually don’t think that is all that unusual for mid sized corporate foundations. My last two companies have had associated charitable foundations. Neither had/have employees and most of the tax and legal work was done by corporate employees. That said we were really conservative about what was run through the foundation.

Can someone tell me when the general public came to believe that all government business is conducted exclusively through government emails, servers etc?

I am genuinely shocked by the reaction to Hillary's email-gate, Barrack's cell phone, Jared's private server etc.

Thomkal 06-14-2018 06:51 PM

Hillary's response to Comey using personal emails:

Hillary Clinton‏Verified account @HillaryClinton

Hillary Clinton Retweeted Kyle Cheney
But my emails.

Kyle CheneyVerified account @kyledcheney
IG found that on numerous occasions, COMEY used a personal GMail account to conduct official FBI business, according to source briefed on the report.

ISIS does the same shit using the Koran. That's what happens when you are radicalized.

It’s okay though. Pretty sure the Bible doesn’t mention anything about adulterous behavior

"I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained the government for his purposes," Sessions said.

Wow, the world is getting scarier and scarier every day. That is extremist reasoning if I've ever heard it.

Actually, it's utterly piss-poor exegesis and application if you think, as Sessions does, that the immigrants coming in are not believers. That text has no application whatsoever to those outside the faith. None. Zero. Zip.

JPhillips 06-15-2018 07:49 AM

Paul was also telling believers, obey the laws of the Romans, not telling the Romans, anything you do is the will of God.

Trump totally distancing himself from Manafort this morning:

Manafort worked with us for a very short period of time and had nothing to do with the campaign."

Perhaps the biggest lie yet.

Ben E Lou 06-15-2018 09:53 AM

Money quote is at 3:48. Prophetic words that pretty much predicted "evangelical" (yes, I use that word extremely loosely) support of Trump.

"Most American Christians don't know how to read the Bible well. And they don't know how to read the Bible well because they're Americans before they're Christians."
