California (Oregon) 8 point Gobble Arizona/California 2 point counter |
if im not mistaken, can't coffee only try and gobble california, or is it now 1 big state? |
Excuse me. What about the Colossal Squid? |
Is it possible to gobble a state gobbled by another state? Oklahoma Gobbles Wisconsin 7 times Counter Gobbles 3 times Nevermind |
Yeah, I'm unclear on that. Does California now count as part of Arizona, or are they still seperate states for gobbling purposes. |
West Virginia: 5 points to gobble Tennessee, 5 points to gobble Maryland |
A state is always a single entity, regardless of the other states it gobbles. The gobbled states are only listed for purposes of shared borders & points. Gobble a state and you get the whole shooting match. Frtiz - I'm sorry, but the Colossal Squid was gobbled by a Gargantuan Piece of Kelp. R.I.P. |
Arizona since 5x20%=100%, and he has 2 counters=10%...100%-10% equals 90, but with another 20 your back up to 100%(don't want).... meaning ill throw:5 gobble california(oregon) 6 counter gobble EDIT: Spelling |
In that case. Gobble away! |
Alaska 6 points gobble Canada 4 points counter |

NC: 5 gobble West Virginia (et al) |
ok... NC: +1 gobble WV (so a total of 6) 5 gobble GA 2 counters |
I am not sure I understand how Louisiana's Gobbles were calculated last time... But anyway La. gobbles Mississippi 5 La. gobbles Arkansas 5 |
Why are some of these states gobbling beyond 10 points? |
If you gobble a state, you get a bonus of 1 point This is what it said in the rules: (6) Once a state has been successfully gobbled, it is out of the tournament. It will provide one point to the state which gobbled it, and will be considered that state’s territory in determining adjacent states. |

He didn't put one up, but his post was at 10:59 PM for the end of the last round, and you posted at 11:22....i got screwed for the same thing first round |
 Sorry, Masked, you did miss the deadline. But here’s an explanation of Louisiana’s Turn 3 gobble attempts: vs. Texas, (6) x 20 = 120 gobbles; vs. Mississippi, (2) x 20 = 40 gobbles Both TX and MS defaulted (no entry) to all counter-gobbles, so (10) x 5 = 50 So…120-50 = 70% vs. TX, and 40-50 = 0% vs. MS |
Turn 4 Gobble Attempts Alaska gobbles Canada (70%). Arizona gobbles CA (90%). California gobbles AZ (100%). North Carolina gobbles WV (100%) and GA (45%). Oklahoma fails to indirectly gobble WI (35%). West Virginia gobbles MD (50%), but fails to gobble TN (50%). Wisconsin fails to gobble ND (70%). Colossal Sea Barnacle, not being “formidable,” fails to gobble Colossal Squid State Update Alaska (+ Canada) = 11 points Arizona* (OR) = 10 points California (+ AZ) = 11 points Connecticut (+ MA, NH, NY) = 13 points Missouri (+ KS) = 11 points North Carolina (+ VA, SC, WV, GA, AL, PA, OH, KY) = 18 points Oklahoma (+ TX) = 11 points West Virginia* (MD) = 10 points Wisconsin (+IL, IA, MN) = 13 points All others = 10 points *state’s original territory gobbled Eliminated States Alabama Canada Georgia Illinois Iowa Kansas Kentucky Maryland Massachusetts Minnesota New Hampshire New York Oregon Pennsylvania South Carolina Texas Virginia |

Turn 5 deadline is 24 hours from the time on this post. |
So I was totally confused. My last post missed the deadline, not the previous one. No problem this time. 6 to gobble Mississippi more to come, probably after the deadline |
Alaska 4 points gobble Washington 4 points gobble Idaho 3 points counter |
 Wisconsin 6 gobbles Alaska 7 counter-gobbles |
I'm confused, too. WV had already been gobbled by Virginia. Why did it loose PA and OH when neither of those two states had been gobbled by anyone else? |
Under the "State Update" section, states are listed with their gobbled states in parentheses. This is only to indicate what their boundaries are - the state itself is just one big entity. So in West Virginia's case, after Turn 3 it was listed as: West Virginia* (PA, OH, KY) = 12 points. This meant that though it's original territory was gone (it being marked with an asterisk), its new territory was comprised of PA/OH/KY. During Turn 4, North Carolina successfully gobbled WV (the entity, not the original state territory), and thus PA/OH/KY. Does that help any? |
California Empire 5 point gobble New Mexico 6 point counter. |

 I HATE YOU WISCONSIN;) |

Under that assumption, can't one participant come along at the end of the game and gobble up the state with the greatest amount of points and win without really participating much? I assumed that since I took over PA as WV was being gobbled, that PA became the new territory of WV, while the original territory of WV became part of VA. Then, I expanded my territory to include OH and KY. Does that make sense? :) |

That's a good point. I agree. But I was just playing by the rules given by WSU here: Quote:

It wouldn't really be possible, the state with all the territory would have so many more points than the other state... |
