Funyun Johnson accepted his contract offer (thanks!) I think I screwed up his build pretty badly though. I made a better one, OT Subway Sam Fitz. We can swap them out if you like.

Also available if needed...SS Dixon Payne.

Heh. See, I didn't really know the proper contract offers. I added a set amount to what was already there and a set signing bonus. I don't think it shows me the offers that you're getting elsewhere.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 03:13 PM

I'll do some more searching and make sure I'm compensating you guys properly.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 03:15 PM

I think, so long as it's a one year contract, the contracts you are giving out are allowing us to do the training we need. Extra money is good but I'm not going to cry about that for the first season.

I can see the European Pro League offering more because of the level of competition, but man that Canadian AA offer is crazy though. If I were Skydog I might just take that one..

Everyone, please make your attributes viewable at least to me, if not the whole team. This needs to be done so I can figure out the depth chart.

Don't forget that you can buy equipment and these give you powerups in your stats (you pick which when you make the equipment). Except in the case of the custom item, you spend your salary, not Flex points. The custom item uses Flex points but it can give you a bonus of +6 in whatever you want it to.

I havent complained because I honestly don't know what fair compensation is either.. All I do know is right now I'm spending 2 times as much every day on training than what I am getting paid though.. so that won't be able to keep it up :)

I did this with the rest of my remaining flex points to add +6 stamina to me.. I am fairly strong and have some pretty decent skills for early on, but my stamina was horrible.

Yeah, training money comes out of pocket. For instance I'll go broke in 10 days, and will have to then back off my training. Hopefully my performance on the field by then will encourage my GM to renegotiate! :)

Lvl 4 WR so, getting a little more in the way of an offer.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 04:18 PM

Okay, so what I need to figure out is how the training costs work depending on level and position. That way everyone's training can be covered properly.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 04:19 PM

It also costs more to train the higher your level, so the 1st and 2nd level guys don't have to pay as much.

A point that I've read that seems applicable here is that, once the season is under way for us new guys, we can't train at the highest level anymore because we won't get back enough stamina points. So I'm judging my salary against the normal setting, and I'm fine there. With intense I'm spending about $74 over my daily, but today is the last day I expect to be able to use intense.

Here's the quote from the forums:

Quote:

The Training Focus you get in each skill all depends on the training intensity.

In GLB there are 3 types of intensities (Relaxed, Normal, Intense). Where your training intensity is set is the factor that decides how much training you will get at a skill.

If you train at a skill with a RELAXED intensity you will get minimal training at the skill trained.
If you train at a skill with an INTENSE intensity you will get maximum training at the skill trained.

For Example)
CB Felix Manusin is training in agility:
When training at RELAXED intensity = +0.36/day
When training at NORMAL intensity = +0.42/day
When training at INTENSE intensity = +0.46/day

Remember that the energy and the cost of training is effected on how high or low you set the training intensity.

$10 * (Your Player's level) = Cost of Training at RELAXED
$75 * (Your Player's level) = Cost of Training at NORMAL
$200 * (Your Player's level) = Cost of Training at INTENSE

Thats what I was trying to figure out, but wasn't sure how much stamina would be hit. I have alot of +stamina stuff to hopefully be able to play hard and train intensely for a bit, but I guess its one of those things that I'll have to see how it plays out and adjust accordingly.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 04:26 PM

If that post is true, even the level 4 players should only be $400/day for intense training. No one at level 4 was offered a contract lower than that (not sure it's even possible), so I'm confused as to how people are saying they're spending more for training than they have.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 04:27 PM

It's $800 a day for me at level 4, so there must be a missing multiplier somewhere.

EDIT: from looking at my costs, it looks like in that quoted bit they have $100 where they should have $200. It looks like the first two are right.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 04:28 PM

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's $200 * level for intense.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 04:30 PM

Okay, I'm out for now, but when I get back tonight, I'll start offering some renegotiations for everyone on the team so you're making enough to do intense training.

Heh, the Hawaii Five Os still think the team is made up of the scrubs the CPU was starting. What a shock it will be when Larry sets the roster..

Chubby 03-22-2008 04:46 PM

Joey Dotson, WR is ready to rock

bhlloy 03-22-2008 04:56 PM

Alright, this looks like a lot of fun. Larry - any positions left that the FOFC team really needs?

dbd1963 03-22-2008 05:05 PM

Ahem.. a pass blocking left tackle? Seriously, we only have one tackle and he's a level 1.

We don't have a human C signed yet. I know someone made one though.

We don't have a human FB signed. I think I remember someone made one of these too..

Only two DTs and three CBs signed as of yet.

Oh yeah, no punter yet.

bhlloy 03-22-2008 05:12 PM

Alright, FB Tank Lloyd ready to go. You bastards better not be planning a single-back offense :)

DanGarion 03-22-2008 05:13 PM

I'd love to join a human team. :)

Daniel Schoonover, Kicker, already a level 4, will kick good for you. I need to make more then $300 a day (that's what my CPU team pays me and it's 1 buck more then how much my normal training costs.

MacroGuru 03-22-2008 05:21 PM

Well, I have enough points I can either start my own team or create another character

bhlloy 03-22-2008 05:24 PM

So, would it make sense to use the rest of my flex points to level up straight away? Or is there sense in saving them?

dbd1963 03-22-2008 05:27 PM

Quote:

I've read both. The one thing people are saying often is that stamina is very important, because the amount of time you are in a game is what gets turned into your experience points. The longer you can play, the more experience you get.

But others have said that if you dump all your points into stamina, you have a crap player who never comes out. This isn't good for the team. So there's a tradeoff point. Some folks I read said that you should shoot for around 20 points of stamina for a 4th level player (which is what you can go up to by using all the flex points allowed).

Dang, forgot the saving part -- the reason to save is to get the easier level up from the season (you get fewer points in training the more points you already have), then before the end of the season do the flex point boost. You wind up with more overall points that for the season that way, but you do have a character that isn't all that good for almost the entire season.

MacroGuru 03-22-2008 05:42 PM

Went out and created a 2nd player...OT Joseph Thorbjorn

+1.

I've got the leftover points to build another level four player, I think. Larry, just tell me what position you want him in.

Level 4 Tight End.

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 07:24 PM

We definitely need a punter. We should be set at other positions, but could use some backups at RB, OL, and DL.

I'll create a punter right now....unless someone already has.

There is some guy on the GLB forum for our team asking about his job. He was on the team before you bought it and wants to know if he is going to lose his starting job

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 07:47 PM

Well, I think we only have one Guard. I don't mind keeping him, but I wouldn't want to start him over another FOFC'er if another Guard got created.

What do you guys think?

Bad-example 03-22-2008 07:53 PM

My guess is that he wouldn't be loyal to us if he got a better contract, thus we should also look at him from a business sense. Tell him he needs to perform or he might be replaced, but as long as he's there start him over CPU, but not before FOF?

dbd1963 03-22-2008 07:57 PM

I'd say start the best guys. Nobody has enough stamina to play the whole game so everyone is going to play. I think he's only a level 1 guy who just signed up yesterday. I can't tell because of the way they do the OL stats, but he might not have started a game yet. He doesn't show any pancakes anyway.

Yeah, I just checked and he doesn't show up in the box score for the last game, so he hasn't had a starting job to lose yet.

hawk4669 03-22-2008 08:02 PM

Play to win, start the best. Kinda cold I know, but hey....that's just business.

If he can perform, great. If not, step aside.

Just my two cents.

Cheers!

larrymcg421 03-22-2008 08:15 PM

dbd1963 03-22-2008 09:24 PM

I bought a team in the AA East -- the Richmond Razorbacks. I'm not going to run that one as a FOFC only deal, but if any of you can't find a spot on Larry's team I'll give you a contract. Note that I'm limiting the team to 1st and 2nd level players. I think most of the players on there are probably kids and I want to let them play (it's the teacher in me). Also, I won't have a player on the team. I'm just sticking with Tank as my sole player. So if you've got a 1st or 2nd level player, especially an FB, WR, OL, DT, CB, P and you can't get on Larry's team, I can take you on.

I'm a L1 QB - Biff Chuckington and was offered a contract by Larry but it looks like he has a L4 QB so that eliminates me for now so if you need a QB I'm your man.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 09:35 PM

I'll look you up and give you an offer FBPro. There is a QB on the team, also 1st level. I won't look for any more. With only two human QBs, and 1st level at that, you will both see a lot of time, but neither of you can last a whole game.

damnMikeBrown 03-22-2008 09:59 PM

I've got Annie Man, lvl1 HB. Actually added to the CD thread in the dynasty section about this. Never thought to put it on the off-topic side of things...rather short sited of me.

At any rate, I'm signed by CPU team at present, but will gladly tote the pigskin for a FOFC team.

SteveMax58 03-22-2008 10:37 PM

LB- Harry Balsac Level-2

This looks pretty cool & I'd be happy to be a Silverback or a Razorback. Though I'll probably buy my way to a higher level than I'm at currently.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 10:46 PM

You know, when I was choosing the name I didn't even realize it was so similar! It's the name of the team I run in my SP league of FOF2007. Sheesh! Can't change it now I guess..

I have two 1st level RBs Steve (and Mike I just saw your message), but Larry might have room for you. If he doesn't, and you don't mind staying 2nd level, I'll take you on. RB by committee looks like the way of things, at least at these lower levels.

twothree 03-22-2008 11:12 PM

The CPU team that I was on got purchased by someone, so I am stuck on his team unless the owner releases or trades me. For future reference, I also can't retire the player until his contract runs out, while he is on a human owned team.

So, T Maple Syrup got stuck....for 40 real life days (one season) on the new Seatown Saints team.

dbd1963 03-22-2008 11:50 PM

Maybe I can pry you loose with a trade.. I'll see.

OK, I made an offer. I am sending across a lvl 6 tackle for you. Told him we were friends and you were waiting for me to sign you when my team was up, etc.

ntndeacon 03-22-2008 11:51 PM

I am hopeful Deacon Palmer will get picked up by one of the Fofc teams.

I just accepted the new deal. Also, I switched it so that you can see my attributes. I think in short bursts, he shouldn't be a bad pocket passer for a level 1 QB.

Crim 03-23-2008 01:24 AM

larry and fellow Silverbacks: Once the depth chart is set, please consider updating your "Playing Intensity". Seems to me, the starters should go normal, since they'll see more action and need to stay in the game longer, while they backups should hard, so that while they're (bbriefly) in, they can make a better impact.

Thoughts?

When you get a chance, check out the Schedule and Scores page. Click on a game score from a previously played game and then find the Play By Play link. Click on Replay on any of the plays and it will give you a Football Manager-style presentation of the play. From there you can go to the next play and even pause or rewind a play. It is pretty freaking cool.

The only thing I haven't been able to work out is if the upcoming game can be viewed like this in real-time or if it only works post-sim.

21C 03-23-2008 02:42 AM

Just checked out the page source of one of these Replays and it has a script with stuff like:

OK. For those with higher-level players looking for a team, I have purchased a team in the same league as Larry's, but the other conference. The Lowcountry Gators are now mine. Here's my referral link...

Just created FS Ace Idol, any FOFC spots still?

Crim 03-23-2008 08:43 AM

I've thought about it, and decided to set my game day tactics to "hard", even though I'm named as a starter. Reason being, the guys behind me are the same level, and so there's not apparently any drop-off when I'm out of the game due to Donovan McNabb-like exhaustion. Hell, our 4th string MLB is a 5th level CPU player, so from the standpoint of game results, the quicker we get to him the better... might even make us better in the fourth quarter of a close game.

WR Caesar Galamificon signed with the Lowcountry Gators earlier today.

AE! Welcome back, man :)

Chubby 03-23-2008 10:03 AM

I'm a lvl 1 WR looking to get on a FOFC team :)

Joey Dotson is his name, catching touchdowns is his game.

dbd1963 03-23-2008 11:12 AM

I sent you a contract offer, Chubby.

Man, my team has fllled up. I have a few guys who are high maintenence though. Just like in real football, I guess..

JAG 03-23-2008 11:25 AM

Room for a CB? Working on point allocation and then will be ready (Jon Snow)

dbd1963 03-23-2008 11:43 AM

i could use a 3rd CB for sure.

Fonzie 03-23-2008 11:44 AM

DE Arthur Fonzarelli is now available.

dbd1963 03-23-2008 11:48 AM

I have 3 DEs already so you should check if one of the other teams needs you before I send a contract. I'd definitely put you in the rotation. OR if you would rather start, you could retire your guy and make a DT.

The only other starter I need is FB. You can't get FBs for a pound of gold at GLB.

Ben E Lou 03-23-2008 11:52 AM

Just offered The Fonz.

Fonzie 03-23-2008 11:54 AM

Cool. Thanks gents. I'll go sign with SkyDog, as he seems to have more of a need at DE.

Fonzie 03-23-2008 11:57 AM

dola-

I'm now signed with Lowcountry and ready to become a clubhouse cancer!

Fonzie 03-23-2008 11:57 AM

double dola

Crap. I forgot to use a referral link. Sorry fellas.

Silverbacks need a logo - I'm tired of seeing that generic football helmet:

The second one would need that baseball bat removed, but other than that I think it's the coolest.

dbd1963 03-23-2008 12:13 PM

Man, those are all awesome!

Any chance you could come up with something for the Razorbacks? I ain't got a lick of artistic talent..

hawk4669 03-23-2008 12:16 PM

It is a toss up between #2 and #3 for me. I think I'm leaning towards the more fierce #3.

Cheers!
