Man the feeling on campus has been electric, I think I might get some nookie because of Obama.....seriously.

This is historical and I am so happy that I am wrong about America, although there are still people (on both sides) who are racially bias(for lack of a better term) it is not all people.

Next step is a college football playoff.

that's a messed-up viewpoint though. because the taxes are going to have to come from somewhere. so if it's not income tax it'll be property tax and a nice big salestax add-on

My wife was a school teacher before her illness, and currently is working on getting licensed for school psychology. Local governments have already said very clearly if prop #1 passes, teacher salaries will be cut. My personal belief is they shouldn't cut teacher salaries and instead should look at increasing local property taxes if need be. I am not against paying taxes. I am against paying taxes for Boston or Springfield improvements that I never see or care about.

mauchow 11-04-2008 07:33 PM

McCain coming back in the popular vote...lol

So if Obama doesn't win, America is racist?

I have no problem with more local taxes if needed to supply worthwhile local benefits. Right now most of my taxes go to the big dig or who knows what corruption in Boston. I am tired of it.

No, but imagine the government of MA trying to find $12 billion a year to fund everything.

CNN is already projecting "No" on Mass. Prop 1.

DeToxRox 11-04-2008 07:37 PM

McCain really appeals to that SEC speed.

I'm surprised that they're calling Georgia already.

Bring back the Whigs.

sabotai 11-04-2008 07:40 PM

(I guess this is now the "election thread" to discuss all things going on in this election?)

The Florida Amendment to ban gay marriage is holding at 60% with 32% reporting (it needs 60% to pass)

Arles 11-04-2008 07:41 PM

I don't think any state has changed hands yet, right? I'm guessing New Mexico or Iowa might be the first.

I kind of think this one is more of a "yay" or "nay" vote on Dole rather than votes for Hagan.

JetsIn06 11-04-2008 07:41 PM

CNN finally reports PA for Obama. Woo!

I thought the plan would be implemented over several years. If it's going to be implement right away, than I think it's a stupid idea that way.

Arles 11-04-2008 07:42 PM

Fox just called Chambliss as a winner.

JonInMiddleGA 11-04-2008 07:42 PM

Had to do a doubletake walking past the TV a few minutes ago. FXNC had the popular vote running total on the screen & for a second I thought they had typo'ed something & put the same number twice. I can't quote the exact numbers but at that point with 15 million votes tabulated the two were separated by 3,000 votes. That'd be 0.02% difference.

Obviously it won't hold up that way but I thought it was just a neat moment in time to see that big a number divided that closely.

Afghan Whigs? I don't know about that.

DeToxRox 11-04-2008 07:46 PM

I know this has been said a lot but ..

I need to see Sarah Palin in fishnet stockings.

Young Drachma 11-04-2008 07:46 PM

Interesting that the main Socialist candidate picked a 23-year old as her running mate. Not as if being a socialist party candidate for VP would be a real resume booster, tho.

I haven't gotten anything meaningful on actual returns yet tonight, but from the last round of polling (including a couple unreleased ones) it looks like it ought to pass by roughly 5-8%.

ABC has (Apparently) called FL for Obama, per Greyroofoo earlier. Trying to get confirmation.

No, it would cut personal income tax by 2.65% for income gained in 2009, and then remove it entirely for income gained in 2010, so not immediate.

Do people actually find Palin hot? I keep seeing headlines and jokes that suggest that's true, but so far I've passed it off as urban legend.

Seems a little early to me, at least based on the county by county numbers I'm looking at. But they could very well have access to numbers that haven't been posted by the Sec. of State yet too.

It's awfully close. 42% reported....2,537,179 for Obama, 2,363,124 for McCain

cartman 11-04-2008 07:51 PM

yeah, but the places that have reported already were pretty solid for Bush 4 years ago.

Tigercat 11-04-2008 07:52 PM

Yea, calling Chambliss a winner at this point is hard to believe, unless they feel they have some EXCELLENT exit polls.

Chambliss should win outright tonight though.

Watching the streaming MSNBC feed, and they called both Alabama and Georgia for McCain after holding off for about 15 minutes.

Swaggs 11-04-2008 07:53 PM

If the networks call Florida, does that have a big effect on Western state voters? I wonder if some will stay home if the race appears to be decided...

Nothing like a little crazy chick in bed.

Did anyone notice that the Libertarian candidate is actually a cartoon elephant?

sabotai 11-04-2008 07:56 PM
