I think they figure that lunchtime is already busy enough and they'd get slammed and hurt their core business. I bet from 2-5, they're dead and so, this would be a nice way to spike business at that time and maybe people grab a drink or something when they're there.

Still reading the rest of the thread, but my favorite was:

"That was right down the middle" followed by the overhead showing the pitch being just outside.

DaddyTorgo 10-25-2007 07:20 PM

that's one fucking sexy ballpark. I want to make sweet sweet love to it.

DaddyTorgo 10-25-2007 07:32 PM

could be schill's last start at Fenway

joe buck: "i think they ought to be able to hit curt schilling here tonight."

fuck you joe buck

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 07:35 PM

Hopefully, they rock him like you want to rock that ballpark.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 07:39 PM

Get up on him early.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 07:42 PM

And that's why he's the manager and you're not, McCarver.

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 07:43 PM

Props to the runner. that was a heads up play.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 07:56 PM

I'm giddy with anticipation to hear what sort of ridiculousness they'll say about Denver when they get there.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 08:01 PM

Mile High Stadium. They blew that up, Tim.

Big Fo 10-25-2007 08:13 PM

Dude, this is Fox. Packing the broadcast with graphics and sound effects > your silly facts.

I wish there were an alternate broadcast "EPL FanZone" style where you had a fan of each team arguing throughout the broadcast, it'd be far better than McCarver and Buck.

Hahahaha...that'd be too awesome.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 08:17 PM

Especially if it were some huge Red Sox apologist from western Mass who had a heavy accent and some Rockies fan trying to understand what the DH is.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 09:14 PM

"He can strike like a cobra in a basket."

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 09:20 PM

Sheesh, that's like 5 straight pitchers who wasn't able to go five innings against the Sox. You kinda saw it coming, the pitcher was getting wilder, and the Sox don't swing at many bad pitches.

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 09:32 PM

Dola: Huge out there. Damnit.

At least Schill is pitching awesome

Big Fo 10-25-2007 09:36 PM

Ugh, how many times are they gonna keep mentioning these fucking tacos?

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 09:37 PM

lol. I put it on mute.

Sublime 2 10-25-2007 09:47 PM

Shit! Tim just gave up Okee's biggest secret!

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 09:51 PM

Those were some nasty pitches there.

Real Men don't own women with Dragon Tattoos and always get chilli on your lapdogs. Got it.

(can I say I've seen that commercial one too many times?) ;D

DaddyTorgo 10-25-2007 09:51 PM

oki's fucking nailz

Crapshoot 10-25-2007 10:15 PM

Did that idiot just say "White Sox" in the world series?

No No - a guy from Southie. Has to be a guy from Southie. :D

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 10:16 PM

This World Series is so boring that they have to talk about football.

Even. better.

Logan 10-25-2007 10:20 PM

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THE 4TH BOY TO MAN?!!?!!?!

You know, the one who was more boy than man.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 10:21 PM

He was the one with the cane. He eventually stopped being able to travel, because whatever issue he had, was causing him issues.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 10:22 PM

Poor boy. :(

DaddyTorgo 10-25-2007 10:28 PM

is there a boyz II men boston-connection?

thought they were all philly-guys?

wade moore 10-25-2007 10:29 PM

I had no idea those guys were still singing.

They didn't appear to still be singing well mind you, but singing nonetheless.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 10:33 PM

They are from Philly. But last night, Ashanti sang and I know she's got no Boston connection. I started to make a snark comment about how, the declining numbers of blacks in baseball, forced MLB to compensate by having black singers sing God Bless America, the irony of which on a number of levels just made me laugh.

But thought the better of it.

Until now, of course.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 10:40 PM

I wonder how well the city will support the Rockies if it takes them another 30 years to get back to the World Series. Or 86.

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 10:43 PM

Okajima is huge.

Crapshoot 10-25-2007 10:45 PM

You know, Papelbon is "mayday Malone" come to life. You can't not like the guy.

DaddyTorgo 10-25-2007 10:46 PM

HAHAAH!!!!

PAPS JUST PICKED OFF HOLIDAY!!!

wade moore 10-25-2007 10:47 PM

Wow, that was a clutch, very nice, pickoff.

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 10:47 PM

Ouch. Apparently the Rockies heard you could run on Paps, and that he could run at will..

Whoops. :)

Crapshoot 10-25-2007 10:47 PM

Wow - how do you get picked off there? I feel bad for Holliday, but that was a huge mental blunder.

sterlingice 10-25-2007 10:47 PM

Bad move on Holiday's part, leaning the other way. But a great pickoff for a righty.

SI

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 10:49 PM

Ugh.

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 10:50 PM

1st Pickoff in the Major Leagues for Paps :)

Deattribution 10-25-2007 10:50 PM

Looks like that's not all he got caught picking.

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 10:53 PM

Ugh. Not sure about the call (He looked to still be in the batters box).. but why the hell is he bunting in that situation.

edit: Just out of curiosity, how would you score that in a scorebook? Bunt Out?

SirFozzie 10-25-2007 11:10 PM

2-1 win, 2-0 lead.

Schilling, very good, Okajima, Awesome, Papelbon, HUGE.

Crapshoot 10-25-2007 11:10 PM

You know, P-bon's fastball at this point - that's Riviera-esque. Just stunning.

Crapshoot 10-25-2007 11:11 PM

I'd reverse that - Okajima pitched 2 1/3 innings at a time when it was vital, without a hit. Great performance.

Young Drachma 10-25-2007 11:11 PM

I wonder what Dan O'Dowd did to make G-d angry between the NLCS and now.

For context:

'You look at some of the moves we made and didn't make,' general manager Dan O'Dowd said in the only interview he has given on the subject, long before the Rockies' remarkable ascension over the past few weeks. 'You look at some of the games we're winning. Those aren't just a coincidence. God has definitely had a hand in this.'

That'll be an awesome press conference.
