I disagree. As Maple Leafs said. to find a hit for both the original and the cover is not easy. I had originally seen 5 or 6 and Hurt wasn't among them. I don't think I had heard that one.

I was surprised it hadn't gone earlier because they do "epic" songs polls, that's usually up there with Stariway or Bohemian.

I originally thought of two other songs but they belonged in the Classic category better and I have already gotten in trouble for busting categories.

The only reason I took American Pie over 2112 was because I think more people will recognize it.

I actually wondered if anyone would take this in the "Epic" category.

Why me? I'm pretty sure Nena was eaten by wolves immediately after recording 99 Luftballoons.

It also could've gone in the "cover" category, which would have made me laugh.

Epic is a cover?

First we'll start with a small anecdote. I realized after my last pick that I should've thought ahead. I picked my One-Hit Wonder and stepped away from the computer. About 20 minutes later I realized the huge mistake I made. Both of the people picking (4 picks, 2 teams) before my next pick already had a One-Hit Wonder. By definition, there's no way they block me on that one. I then sweat for the next hour or so to see if I got blocked on my Cover Song. We'll now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

I hope this pleases the people that seem to be putting a lot of stock into the Cover Song. While the original version was not a hit (in the billboard sense), it is well known that the original version exists and is a fantastic song on it's own. Bob Marley wrote this fantastic song with the Wailers, but Eric Clapton perfected "I Shot the Sheriff". How I managed to snake Eric Clapton in the 10th round I'm not sure, but I thank vtbub for taking a song he did with Derek and the Dominos for his Epic. :)

I really enjoy the Goldfinger cover. It's one I considered, but it's one of the many cover songs I love that no one (or very few people) would recognize.

Except that I hate Toni Basil with a passion.

Interestingly (maybe), according to Wiki the term "cover" is technically only for instances where an artists records a song that's currently popular in order to steal sales away from the original (usually lesser known) artist. Apparently it was a common trick in the early days of popular music. I'd never heard that before, and I think 99% percent of the public goes with the broader definition.
