So, how does this happen ?

(Highly paraphrased / only conceptually accurate description)

By staring at something for a bit, the rods/cones (one set of things processes color, the other B/W, I forget which) at the back of your eye habituate to the strength of color they're seeing. So when you switch your gaze to a perfectly contrasted background (black to white), the rods/cones have to "warm up" temporarily from the color-saturated background and image to the white background. So there's a bit of residual color in your vision for a couple seconds.

These things never work for me.

I remember six months ago (or so) someone posted an animated gif of a guy throwing a dog out of a car on the highway. Everything was caught on camera, from the throw to the dog hitting the pavement. The gif is probably still there. Meanwhile, later on that same page, a picture of a woman in a bikini wound up being removed.

Aint nobody got time for that.

I find it amusing that Beyonce's PR flak is trying to get her unflattering action photos (isn't that redundant) removed. Maybe if she wasn't up there for the whole world to see dressed like a two-bit whore and pretending to act like a rock star, then perhaps there wouldn't be as many unflattering photos aroung teh internets.
