That's horrible. I got a missed tackle on a catch *in* the endzone.

MikeVic 04-08-2008 03:10 PM

Look at me bust through and make a crucial tackle! ;)

Anyone else suspect that the opposing team is basically all populated by one guy doing some sort of IP Spoofing to set up multiple free accounts? I mean - the Tecmo-based concept is pretty amusing, but I don't see how you get that many guy organized unless all of "them" are just "you."

With effective communication, it would seem you can get a team do develop and play pretty much any way you want. I only have one player on my own team, and they've evolved pretty well exactly how I've hoped they would - both in terms of player development and each player's advanced tactics.

Obviously I don't KNOW this - they could all be on relaxed soaking up PT instead of the Intense that I call for...but we're doing remarkably well (5-1)against teams that are roughly equivalent in terms of player levels.

Had no clue you were a FOFC'er. After Mary's early success, our starting interior line (LG, C, RG) now has an average strength over 50.

JeeberD 04-08-2008 04:09 PM

Five catches, 40 yards. Not a bad day for ol' Jeeber...

JeeberD 04-08-2008 04:16 PM

Dola-

I'm also considering making a second player. Are there any FOFC teams that need someone at a specific position?

Eaglesfan27 04-08-2008 04:25 PM

Randall McManus hit level 8 today. Looking forward to the new equipment.

hawk4669 04-08-2008 06:40 PM

Hawk McGawk: Bleh day...no catches. Up to level 9 though!!!

Legs Faustino: 1 punt, but for 40 yards...he's getting much better.

Fingers O'Neill: Great day. 3 catches for 40 yards and a TD...as well as ripping it up on KR/PR duty.

Wally Jumbo: Again...bleh.

Cheers!

Raiders Army 04-08-2008 06:55 PM

My FB hit level 8 today. With 5 skill points to spend plus 4 more points with the equipment upgrades, I'm gonna dominate!

Our team forum is pretty active, so I'm pretty sure it isn't just one guy and me on our team. There are scouting reports, strategies, etc. that guys come up with so it's pretty organized.

The other team I'm on...that one isn't and it looks like we will continue to lose.

Seems like everyone is buying into the Mary Mary Plan! On your earlier comment, i know you don't know if everyone is doing it but it sure seems like we have an active team that all seems to be focused on winning as a team as well as improving as players. It's really cool to see it gel like that. Whatever you are making, the people are drinking it up!

BYU 14 04-08-2008 09:33 PM

Special teams again, 20-17 loss to Skydog and Low Country.....We fumbled twice, but had 2 picks so that worked out about even. Our problem is we can not stop the frickin running game.....My middle LB had 3 tackles cause we can't absorb blocks up front and he can't shed them.....

Luckily we will stave off relegation and should be better next year.

mckerney 04-08-2008 09:43 PM

New free agent player, Lvl 1 OT Leroy Covington.

Buenes Aires Marauders could use a DE. We've got 3 human, one of which is actually active. Other 2 are lvl2 and not logging in.

JeeberD 04-09-2008 12:31 AM

Site's down right now, but I'll create a DE in the morning for you...

WVUFAN 04-09-2008 01:59 AM

10 tackles and 2 pass deflected for Robert DeMinas, and enough exp to hit Level 9!

I can use a good pass rushing DE. I have a lvl 7 and lvl 5 so you would compete with the level 5 for the starting job. I have 3 FOFcer's already in the team, Breizmanu, Irishand and Subby.

We have the best owner in the biz, too.

Get on board, Jeebs!

Peregrine 04-09-2008 08:20 AM

One of the best plays any of my players has made so far - this is the advantage of having a very high speed as CB, as my guy Darrin Trestle closes the distance.

A signature play for legendary TE Chuck Farley. He runs over a couple guys on his way to the end zone! Chuck U!

Agree, his ratings look good but... he is playing like crap. Not sure if the problem is the team strategies or that he is not following my advice on setting his own tactics. He says he is but...

To tell you the true, i'm thinking on bringing my own QB to this team. He is 4-0 in a team that is #1 in another league. QB is the field general and probably it's better if can control him.

I said i didn't want to have my own players in my own team, to avoid conficts about playing time or about starting my own players, but... maybe it's a good time to do it for the QB.

The thing is that he seems loyal, wants a long contract and he owns also our #2 CB. Also if i put my own owned QB as starter, nobody will want to backup him, knowing my guy will be always the starter.

JeeberD 04-09-2008 10:59 AM

Not a bad start for my new guy...6 tackles and a forced fumble.

Yeah, good game from your guy!

Peregrine 04-09-2008 11:32 AM

I don't know if this has been done before, but I was bored and did a small experiment. I made several guards (since I only had 100 flex points) and compared their starting stats. Basically I found out that all players start with the same total stats, divided among the three areas (no real surprise there.) There is a small variation of 2-3 points per player of difference, but all players start with good scores in the attributes that are important for their position (for guards this was Strength, Confidence, and Blocking.)

My goal was to find out if min-maxing by repeatedly making a guy and retiring him until the desired stats were seen would pay off. In the end, if you were only looking for one stat, say strength, to be its maximum, you could get a 2-3 point advantage in this by remaking your guy three or four times. Once you are looking at two key stats, you could get a 1-2 point advantage from several remakes. Once you look at all three stats, at best I saw a 1 point difference in quite a few remakes.

In the end I don't think this strategy helps very much, unless you are trying to go with a build that's extremely heavy on one stat, say the OL "Mary" build which is mostly strength. I have yet to test how boosting the player adds to this, as it seems to me that you get some points automatically added to your base stats for each level, before you add your skill points.

My guy, Colin Rhys after my son, is a lvl 4 LB. Seems I landed on a good team with an owner that's serious about building a winner. I'll invest a little money in this after I see how it goes a couple of weeks!

Hey, a teammate !! Fighting for playing time at the same position to boot. You are right about the team owner.

Are you McManus, Baldwin or the guy who owns half the players on the team?

Arles 04-09-2008 10:09 PM

To the owner of West Bend (Mustang), I have a new RB to check out (sent a PM):

He's the "brother" of Stonewall Cruiser ;)

LOL. Don't pass up my only player I own right now! I'm having so much fun with him I haven't bothered to create anyone else. That and I'd love to own my own team when they have another go around. Looks like we might be making a nice playoff run with this team. Which guy is yours? Our LB core is tough, that's for sure.

The problem i see right now is more related to the tactical limitations than to your guy. Right now we can only choose if we want to run inside or outside.

The #1 RB is a power guy, so i selected to run inside more, your RB is an elusive one that will do better running to the outside, so he was hitting a wall everytime when running to the inside. I hope things will change for next season when the new tactical options are implemented.

Oops sorry :( of course you are.

NevStar 04-10-2008 12:34 PM

Owner of the Nauru Tiger Sharks (Oceania Pro League) is making me full GM & releasing all of his owned players.

I'm looking for starters (pref lvl 5 or higher) at DT, DE, LB, 2 CB, OT, FB & P. You'll be the primary reserve until after the playoffs, then move into a starting role.

larrymcg421 04-10-2008 02:28 PM

Someone wake up Izulde. He was the hero in the Silverbacks last victory.

3ric 04-10-2008 02:50 PM

Just got an in-game email from someone asking if I'd be interested in switching teams, he could make a trade for me. Feels like being on the dating scene again.

Eaglesfan27 04-10-2008 03:15 PM

I feel like I'm in bizarro world. Time until the next game has gone from 9:40 to 9:59 to 14:52.

Eaglesfan27 04-10-2008 03:29 PM

Dola -

Looks like at least the Silverback's game didn't sim properly and now the clock is counting into negative time from our sim time without displaying the negative sign.

Bad-example 04-10-2008 03:32 PM

All games delayed about an hour because trades didn't get done overnight. (per the forum)

gstelmack 04-10-2008 03:46 PM

The Lowcountry game simmed about 30 minutes late.

Yeah, I can feel the active separation between the wheat and chaff at that position as we speak. Cash is king in this game.

I won't be offended if my guy needs to be cut loose to help the team in the future... I don't see myself being willing to make the investment necessary to keep up at the highest level in this game. I got a few referrals to level up this season, but I don't think I'm likely to spend cash and therefore am eventually going to lag behind.

Bee 04-10-2008 04:04 PM

I only got 7 carries, but about 60 rushing yards, 1TD and 2 carries for over 20 yards. I'll take it. :D
