Hamas offers 5-to-10-year truce with Israel, says U.S. : NPR
Quote:

A senior U.S. official who held direct talks with Hamas says the group has proposed a five-to-ten-year truce with Israel.

President Trump's hostage affairs envoy, Adam Boehler, told Israeli public broadcasting on Sunday that Hamas has offered to lay down its arms during that period and not be involved in governing Gaza, while the U.S. would take part in ensuring no Hamas tunnels or militant activity would crop up again.

It is the first time Hamas has been known to offer a timetable for a truce. Hamas and Israel had no comment.

In a round of U.S. and Israeli television interviews, Boehler said a new Israel-Hamas ceasefire deal could take hold in a matter of weeks.

The U.S. and Israel have reached out to officials of three East African governments to discuss using their territories as potential destinations for moving Palestinians uprooted from the Gaza Strip under President Donald Trump’s proposed postwar plan, American and Israeli officials told The Associated Press.

The contacts with Sudan, Somalia and the breakaway region of Somalia known as Somaliland reflect the determination by the U.S. and Israel to press ahead with a plan that has been widely condemned and raised serious legal and moral issues. Because all three places are poor, and in some cases wracked by violence, the proposal also casts doubt on Trump’s stated goal of resettling Gaza’s Palestinians in a “beautiful area.”

Officials from Sudan said they have rejected overtures from the U.S., while officials from Somalia and Somaliland told The Associated Press that they were not aware of any contacts.

Not really. But we are really pissed that you morons thought Trump would more pro Gaza than Biden when in reality they were 1A and 1B and this wasn’t a partisan issue at all. It may have actually had an outcome on the election and there is zero chance any of you will all of a sudden make Trump change his mind.

Netanyahu says Israel is now dividing up Gaza. What does that mean on the ground? | CNN
Quote:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel’s military is “switching gears” in Gaza, dividing and seizing more parts of the strip, a move observers say could mean Israel establishing deeper, more long-term control over the territory.

Israel says it will escalate its campaign against Hamas in Gaza until it agrees to revised ceasefire terms, with the defense minister vowing to seize “large areas” of the Strip. Gaza has seen an intense bombing campaign, with the territory’s health ministry saying at least 100 people have been killed in the space of 24 hours, bringing the total number of the dead to 1,163 since Israel renewed its military operations in the strip on March 18.

I was the same way until I lived in the Middle East. Their propaganda arm is so strong in the States and they have so much lobbying power in DC.

Their biggest issue now is smartphones. The 15 Red Cross workers they executed last week would have never been a story 20 years ago because their initial lie would have stuck. But with video, people can see what actually happened.

They're getting pretty desperate now and it just seems to be backfiring. Banning TikTok, deporting those who don't agree with Israel, making it illegal to boycott or speak out, and not to mention all the targeted killings of journalists. But as long as the internet thrives and there is access to devices with cameras, they're unlikely to change the momentum of where things are going.

Netanyahu says Israeli forces killed Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar : NPR
Quote:

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar has been killed by Israeli forces.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Knesset, Israel's parliament, Netanyahu said that Sinwar was killed in an Israeli airstrike. Netanyahu did not specify where Sinwar was killed. The Israeli military said on May 13 that it had targeted Hamas militants in an airstrike around the European Hospital complex in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza. Israeli media quoted defense officials saying that Sinwar was the target, but the military has yet to confirm he was killed in that strike.
:
The May 13 hospital airstrike killed at least 16 people and wounded more than 70. Citing security sources, Israeli media reported at the time that Mohammed Sinwar was underneath the area in a tunnel, and was believed to have been killed alongside 10 other militants.

Dozens shot dead and injured near Gaza aid hub, health ministry and doctors say | CNN
Quote:

Dozens of Palestinians were shot dead by the Israeli military near an aid distribution site in Gaza on Sunday according to Palestinian officials and eyewitnesses, with Israel’s military denying that its troops fired “within or near” the aid site.

The Palestinian health ministry, hospital officials and a half-dozen eyewitnesses said the Israeli military was responsible for the gunfire. Palestinian officials said 31 Palestinians had been killed. The Israeli military said its forces “did not fire at civilians while they were near or within” the aid site, but an Israeli military source acknowledged that Israeli forces fired toward individuals about 1 kilometer (1093 yards) away, before the aid site opened.
Quote:

Multiple eyewitnesses told CNN they were fired upon at what is known as the “Al-Alam” roundabout approximately 800 meters (874 yards) from the site run by the GHF in southern Gaza.

The health ministry said that more than 200 casualties had reached hospitals, including dozens with serious injuries. It added that all those killed had been shot in the head or chest. The International Committee of the Red Cross said that it received “an influx of 179 cases, including women and children” at its nearby field hospital, including 21 who were declared dead upon arrival. Other dead and wounded were taken to Nasser Hospital.

“This is the highest number of weapon-wounded in a single incident since the establishment of the field hospital over a year ago,” the Red Cross said in a statement.

Israel is denying this happened.

GHF video proves IDF didn't fire on Gazans at humanitarian aid site - Israel news - The Jerusalem Post
Quote:

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution center in Rafah denied on Sunday claims that the IDF attacked a food distribution point near Rafah, contradicting widely circulated Hamas reports.

Security camera footage from Sunday's aid distribution site shows calm civilian activity, with no incidents reported. Aid was delivered without disruption, and the available evidence does not support claims of injuries or fatalities. While some media outlets have reported these allegations, others have contacted the organization to verify the facts, the GHF stated.

WaPo has posted a "correction", BBC has posted a "clarification" (?). Nothing from Red Cross yet.

https://x.com/washingtonpost/status/...article-856456
Quote:

Correction: We’ve deleted the post below because it and early versions of the article didn’t meet Post fairness standards.

The background: Early versions of the article on Sunday stated that Israeli troops had killed more than 30 people near a U.S. aid site in Gaza, with the headline attributing the action to “health officials.”

The article failed to make clear if attributing the deaths to Israel was the position of the Gaza health ministry or a fact verified by The Post. The article and headline were updated on Sunday evening making it clear that there was no consensus about who was responsible for the shootings and that there was a dispute over that question.
https://www.bbc.com/news/live/ceqgvw...016d5a2b2#post

Quote:

As part of our investigation into the reported shootings yesterday morning near an aid distribution site in Rafah, southern Gaza, we've reviewed a graphic video - which has been seen 134,000 times in one X post alone - which some claim shows the incident.

In the footage, showing the apparent immediate aftermath of a strike, dust clouds are visible as well as bodies lying on the ground - some motionless and bloodied.

It was posted with a caption by an Al Jazeera journalist stating: "New footage reveals the horrific massacre committed by Israeli forces near a US aid distribution site in southern Gaza."

We have geolocated the clip to a spot in Khan Younis about 4.5km (2.8 miles) from the nearest aid distribution point. The direction of shadows suggests it was filmed in the evening, not the morning, which doesn't match accounts of the Rafah shootings.

While verifying the clip, a local journalist who filmed another video of the same scene confirmed to us that the events pictured are unrelated to any aid distribution site, and occurred yesterday evening after 19:00 local time (16:00 GMT).

The circumstances of this strike are unclear. The Israel Defense Forces has been approached for comment.

I think it's fair to say that something did happen e.g. I don't think the Red Cross would lie about the bodies that came in.

The corrections/clarifications are just saying WaPo and BBC could not confirm if IDF did cause the casualties, specifically at the distribution site, as they first claimed/hinted at.

@realDonaldTrump I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to “just do it,” but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done. I told them it would be much worse than anything they know, anticipated, or were told, that the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, BY FAR, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come - And they know how to use it. Certain Iranian hardliner’s spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen. They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse! There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end. Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire. No more death, no more destruction, JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. God Bless You All!*

GrantDawg 06-13-2025 06:34 AM

It is hard to see where this goes and how it ends at this point. Iranian defenses seems to have been seriously degraded, and so far they have only been able to launch drones that have been shot down well before reaching Isreal. Their biggest offensive weapons are the ballstic missiles, and if Isreal have taken out most of the c&c of those, it will be awhile before Iran can come up with a substantial attack.

They never expected Israel to strike before another round of talks that had been scheduled for this coming Sunday in Oman, officials close to Iran’s leadership said on Friday. They dismissed reports that an attack was imminent as Israeli propaganda meant to pressure Iran to make concessions on its nuclear program in those talks.
Quote:

A member of the Revolutionary Guards briefed on the meeting said that officials understood that Mr. Khamenei faced a pivotal moment in his nearly 40 years in power: He had to decide between acting, and risking an all-out war that could end his rule, or retreating, which would be interpreted domestically and internationally as defeat.
