That pic is from the top of the Aiguille du Midi. You take a cable car from Chamonix to that platform, then there is an elevator that takes you to the top, and that is where I snapped this pic.

johnnyshaka 08-04-2010 04:28 PM

F'ng awesome!

Yeah, that is about 9,000 vertical feet above the start of the cable car run from the town of Chamonix at the bottom :)

SackAttack 08-04-2010 04:31 PM

What's funny to me is how many people are lying down.

You can't tell from the pic, but there were girls sunbathing on the platform. Even though it was about 40 degrees and windy up there.

Yes I can.

There are far too many fully clothed individuals sprawled out to lessen the funny, however.

I was just in Banff a few weeks ago and they have something similar except nowhere near as high up...only 2400 feet above the town. The day we went up there were low lying clouds so when we climbed above them it felt much higher than previous trips as I had only been up there on clear days.

There certainly is "something" about the mountains, any mountains, that just leaves me in a state of euphoria every time I'm there...very cool.

Here's another pic I took in northern New Mexico that the Forest Service used on their website. I still laugh when I see thegreatcornholio.com attributed on a government website! :D

Is that Darth Vader steering from the back?

cartman 08-04-2010 05:25 PM

What's even cooler, that's me in the front left, with the paddle in the water. :) Found out that an Italian magazine used the pic a few years later:

I love white water rafting.

The nature pix are great. I love new Mexico. You know this country has some diverse and wonderful natural beauty. Its a real shame that people miss out.

Is this like a f'ed up version of where's Waldo, where instead of having to find Waldo you find a dead cat? That's really sick Tucker...sick.

johnnyshaka 08-05-2010 03:25 PM

Tucker, no matter what anybody says about you...you're a stand-up guy in my books!

cartman 08-05-2010 03:29 PM

That cloud on the left looks a little like a cat in that cat carrier from the motivational poster a couple of pages back.

DaddyTorgo 08-05-2010 03:36 PM

Some of the 1,000 or so pics taken during the 5 week "around the USA" driving trip my wife and I took last year.

After looking through these, I realized that both of my wife and I are in most of the pics. Oh well.

I had a blog that I updated almost daily if you anyone wants to read it. You'll have to go into the archives, but it was moderately popular for a while.

Blogger: Blog not found

I'm gonna have to check out your blog- I remember the thread you posted last year before you left. Doing something like that has been a dream of mine and I hope I get the opportunity to do it at some point while I'm still young.

The name of the place was "Art of Pizza" and we chose it after a lot of research on yelp. It was f'ing delicious.

Yeah please feel free to look the blog over. There are about 35-40 entries covering the whole trip from October to December.

Claphamsa - Thanks, she's awesome in bed too.
