lol @ mccain trying to pin the negativity on obama

Big Fo 10-15-2008 08:26 PM

McCain going on again about town hall meetings again. This guy is fucking ridiculous.

Mac Howard 10-15-2008 08:27 PM

"Are either of you willing to say to the other what your campaigns are saying?"

That was good.

SirFozzie 10-15-2008 08:27 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Are you kidding me? McCain saying that OBAMA'S gone too negative?

That's code for "Hey! None of the mud my campaign's been throwing at you has stuck! No Fair!"

Swaggs 10-15-2008 08:27 PM

I think McCain could be winning on content tonight, but his tone is awful. He just seems outwardly angry when speaking and seething while listening.

I think listening to this on the radio would leave me with a much different impression than watching it on television.

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:27 PM

obama should turn around and say "i'll repudiate the lewis comments if you repudiate the shit your VP candidate is saying"

Swaggs 10-15-2008 08:28 PM

Dola...

Well, until that question.

McCain ignores the question and criticizes Obama for the full time allotted.

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:29 PM

look at obama turning this answer positive and using it to be positive, instead of mccain's bitter angry answer...beautiful debating skills

sabotai 10-15-2008 08:32 PM

"My feelings!"

"MY feelings!"

"Your ads!"

"YOUR ADS!!!!"

I hate baseball, but I'm watching that instead.

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:33 PM

can mccain stop interrupting? what an angry old man

Swaggs 10-15-2008 08:34 PM

McCain is losing it.

Awkward.

Big Fo 10-15-2008 08:34 PM

So now McCain is asserting that Obama dissed World War II vets by mentioning the ugly things his supporters have said at his rallies. So awesome.

Calis 10-15-2008 08:35 PM

I actually thought early on in this McCain made some solid points and I thought he might come on strong this debate.

Now he's angry and pouting and it's becoming painful to watch.

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:36 PM

SHUT UP MCCAIN...YOU INTERRUPTING FUCK. LET SOMEONE ELSE FINISH A DAMN QUESTION!

SirFozzie 10-15-2008 08:38 PM

Yup. McCain's gone negative, and Obama's playing Mental Aikido on him, deflecting his attacks, making McCain look out of line.

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:38 PM

ooooh - Obama NAILING the Ayers and ACORN things...beautifully done

sterlingice 10-15-2008 08:40 PM

Schaefer: (paraphrasing) "What about your running mates? Why is yours better than your opponents?"
Obama (licking his lips): "Where do I start?"

SI

I thought those were nicely done. The people who aren't reading into the fact check sites and doing extra research just had Obama frame those two attacks for them. That just didn't work out well for McCain.

SI

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:42 PM

Obama's gonna take the high-road here and let McCain sink Palin on his own - interesting.

OMG - did McCain just snort there when Obama said "energy independence" ??

SirFozzie 10-15-2008 08:43 PM

Man, if CNN's interest meter from the undecided voters for McCain was an EKG, there'd be a crash team running to the hospital bed.

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:43 PM

"Americans have gotten to know Sarah Palin" -- really John???

Big Fo 10-15-2008 08:45 PM

Everytime McCain says he and Palin will get rid of the old boys network you just have to laugh. The only reason McCain is here today is because of the old boys network...

Swaggs 10-15-2008 08:45 PM

Alright... who had "cockamamie" on their debate Bingo card? :)

i had "tit" and Obama got that one

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:48 PM

lol - the extreme environmentalists are the only ones saying nuclear power has to be safe John? Are you fucking batshit?

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 08:52 PM

WE CANNOT OFFSHORE DRILL NOW YOU LYING FUCK!!!!!

I COVERED THAT IN THE LAST FUCKING DEBATE!!!!

GrantDawg 10-15-2008 08:52 PM

I love that the moderator start by asking about "climate control." I thought the rest of the question would be "What exactly will you do with George Bush's Hurricane making machine?"

SirFozzie 10-15-2008 08:53 PM

Obama said it better then I could

"1. We do need to expand domestic production, that means oil companies must use the offshore leases they already have."

In other words "Eat what's on your plate before you go back for seconds"

Young Drachma 10-15-2008 08:53 PM

McCain is coming off as a real ass.

yep. which isn't going to be his homerun

GrantDawg 10-15-2008 08:56 PM

Man, McCain not being very smooth at all. My wife asked if he was having a stroke.

SirFozzie 10-15-2008 08:57 PM

Man, McCain has no real bullets in the gun except "That one wants to talk to EVIL PEOPLE!"

I just think he can't remember any of his other talking points.

Young Drachma 10-15-2008 09:00 PM

Wow, he even botched his Joe-Six Pack line.

QuikSand 10-15-2008 09:00 PM

Sorta interesting... I'm listening (not watching) and while I find Obama more eloquent, I don't sense the sort of meltdown that many of you seem to. McCain is stammering a bit, but in the audio I'm not sensing a collapse here.

Big Fo 10-15-2008 09:00 PM

The snake nearly broke through the top of the chart when Obama was talking about health care.

It plummeted when McCain mentioned Joe the Plumber for the fifteenth time in one hour.

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 09:01 PM

he looks very angry, he's interrupting all the time and trying to talk over obama's responses, and he's getting walloped on his attempted attacks (ayers+acorn for two of them, just now in healthcare)

No, it's not as bad as they say. It's just that he looks so very uncomfortable, he grimaces, smirks - just generally looks up tight and sometimes angry.

He's simply not telegenic :)

DaddyTorgo 10-15-2008 09:03 PM

wow - Obama just destroyed McCain's attempt at attacking him on healthcare too - pointing out the small business exemption on healthcare fines and mccain went "zero? zero?" *shock and awe*

In Clay County, MO (northern subarbs of KC), they threw out 50 ACORN applications this morning alone. All 50 were convicted felons who had been submitted. I submit that is not even close to 1% of the registrations reviewed.

I'll agree with you that all places may not be like this. The urban areas of battleground states may see a much larger frequency than other places. But the numbers in KC and STL aren't close to 1%.

I'd love to know what percentage they are. You're citing unconfirmed numbers and presuming percentages without knowing the number of applications. This information is anecdotal at best. You are slamming an organization that attempts to raise voter participation in the United States without any true facts or sources. Cite a reputable source, particularly if it claims ACORN is not marking obvious fraudulent applications or that it is intentionally submitting fraudulent applications. Until then, we don't want to hear it anymore.

Looks like I was about six weeks ahead of you in wondering about some violence occuring in the scenario you painted. :)

People talk about the Bradley effect, but I wonder what you call it when some people feel pressured (to one extent or another) to vote against their preferred wishes because they fear a violent recrimination if their side were to prevail. I mean, it's not like we've had even a hint of threats, as far as I know, but still... folks on the left and right are asking about it, which means folks on the left and right are considering the possibility.

What a weird damn election.

The only people I have seen threaten violence are the Republicans attending Palin rallies.

I guess McCain didn't read your retort. Perhaps you should type louder.

SirFozzie 10-15-2008 09:03 PM

In gamerspeak that's Zero. GG YL. NR HAND. (zero. Good game, you lose. No Rematch. Have a Nice Day)

GrantDawg 10-15-2008 09:03 PM

Tell them about this Obama. That health care plan is just a night-mare.

Young Drachma 10-15-2008 09:04 PM

I don't think it's a meltdown, but it's not coherent on either side really. But that's been par for the course in these debates.

Jas_lov 10-15-2008 09:05 PM

McCain is doing nothing to close the gap. If anything, he's making it bigger. At least he has Joe the plumber's vote in the bag.

Young Drachma 10-15-2008 09:05 PM

I resent this bullshit about gold-plated medical plans. I can't believe that his people are retreading that stupid Bush line from the SOTU about "gold-plated medical plans." I'm all for pay raises if folks don't have to get health insurance they don't use, but don't make it sound like folks are overinsurance en masse, because it's just not true.

Almost bugs me as much as the term "ordinary Americans."

Tigercat 10-15-2008 09:05 PM

I don't think McCain is looking as bad as he is being potrayed here, but a lot of his physical reactions are just not flattering to a Presidential candidate.

Swaggs 10-15-2008 09:06 PM

They should have put a camera and one of those dials on Joe the Plumber.

SirFozzie 10-15-2008 09:06 PM

I mostly agree with this post from Nate Silver at FiveThirty Eight. Sorry I've been so quiet. I thought McCain was winning this debate 20 minutes in. But the second time that McCain brought up Lewis still feels like the turning point in the debate to me. From there forward, he's pretty much played into all of his worst stereotypes.

I just think he looks like he is having a tough time containing himself when Obama talks. He behaved similarly during one of the Republican debates whenever Mitt Romney spoke.
