Well, on a play like that where it's going to bounce high off the monster, not much you can do but stand there and wait it to bounce back to you

SI

Lathum 10-21-2007 09:00 PM

these double plays are gonna haunt the red sox

Crapshoot 10-21-2007 09:01 PM

I think the Sox are gonna win, but they ought to be up a lot more than they are. ..

Lathum 10-21-2007 09:03 PM

MANNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crapshoot 10-21-2007 09:03 PM

So yeah, lets hear more Manny bashing. Though that was an awful call.

Lathum 10-21-2007 09:03 PM

he was safe

Rizon 10-21-2007 09:03 PM

Lofton just got smoked like the youths I see in downtown Oakland during arguments over crack rock.

(looks like he was safe though)

Dola,

Hell of a play off the wall though, damn.

Lathum 10-21-2007 09:06 PM

time to pull Dice-K

Young Drachma 10-21-2007 09:22 PM

It'll be so much easier to root against the Red Sox if they win, than the Indians, given their drought and all. I'm tired of hearing about Boston and this team.

Galaril 10-21-2007 09:24 PM

Wow. Like always game seven and Fenway is full of pink hat soccer moms and corporate guests who could care less who won:l Here Boston people all were making fun at how silly fans in Cleveland and Colorado looked waving the towels but it beats the Fenway fans sitting on their ass and hands. At times this game sounds like it is a April game against Tampa bay (sorry no disrespect to rays fans)

Crapshoot 10-21-2007 09:27 PM

Seriously, this is just great - nothing matches baseball in a tight, game 7 situation like this.

Sounds just like going to a SF Giants game.

Young Drachma 10-21-2007 09:32 PM

Nothing wrong with a quirky windup.

I love it, too. But it just has this air of inevitability to it of Boston winning ever since they won game 6 and it's going to take something special to change that.

+1

But it makes the World Series that much more compelling. The old guard in the form of Boston. The team that went from cursed to something of a mirror image of what they themselves hate -- the Yankees, only more successful in recent memory.

Then you have this team that "no one knows" from Denver, where there is freakin' snow on the ground right now, riding the hottest streak in the history of baseball postseasons, trying to put the cap on what would easily be a run for the ages.

Something HAS to give. Will Boston finally exorcise the demons and become baseball's new evil hegemon or will the Rockies etch their names into history for good?

Yeah, but its baseball, you know? Its never over till its over, and what not? 3-2 now - who knows. I'm "rooting" for the Sox, but really for good baseball.

The questions are: Will the curse re-strike tonight? And when/where?

Oh Boy Manny dropped ball. Here we go again. Hey, who is that fat guy in the old style yankee uniform wearing number 3 floating over the Red Sox dug out. he looks familar:)

Rizon 10-21-2007 09:52 PM

Kenny Lifton to the Curse Rescue ... lolz

Lathum 10-21-2007 09:53 PM

Man, you gotta send him there

Young Drachma 10-21-2007 09:53 PM

Well that sucks.

Lathum 10-21-2007 09:53 PM

and thats why...

Lathum 10-21-2007 09:54 PM

Get Papplebon up

Crapshoot 10-21-2007 09:54 PM

Awful choice by the hitter - gotta get the ball in the air over there.

Agreed, 100%. Gotta send someone with Lifton's speed, and not allow the potential double-play (which just happened).

JonInMiddleGA 10-21-2007 09:54 PM

Most.Predictable.DP.Ever.

JonInMiddleGA 10-21-2007 09:55 PM

Over/under on the "Skinner Fired" headline?

DeToxRox 10-21-2007 09:55 PM

This is like picking between Donnie or Marie, no one is a winner. That said, I detest the Indians so I'll settle for a Red Sox win. Regardless, go Rocks

Of course it's not over. It just has that feel that we know what's going to happen. But if someone get a hit that changes the entire perception, it will be something that is well remembered (think Francisco Cabrera as the biggest example of that- a team about to lose, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat)

Lathum 10-21-2007 09:59 PM

here comes the meltdown...

Crapshoot 10-21-2007 10:00 PM

What the heck was Blake standing around for?

Galaril 10-21-2007 10:01 PM

Wow seeing the Indians 3rd base coach in the dugout and Lofton out in field now makes me actually sorry for them on that play. It is the type shit that folks in Boston are used to especially pre 2004.

Rizon 10-21-2007 10:02 PM

Colorado / Sox series.

Young Drachma 10-21-2007 10:02 PM

But that sucks even more. Ugh.

Crapshoot 10-21-2007 10:02 PM

And now, its probably over.

Lathum 10-21-2007 10:02 PM

So predictable that the Sox were gonna tack a few on.

Galaril 10-21-2007 10:02 PM

That's game! Beckett in the 8th and Papelbon in the 9th.

mauchow 10-21-2007 10:03 PM

Ball game.

sterlingice 10-21-2007 10:03 PM

I love the lack of announcer sound during that home run. I thought that Buck and McCarver actually shut up for a chance and let the moment speak for itself. But no, you could hear one of them a little underneath it and it was the sound editor who deserves props for that moment :D

SI

k0ruptr 10-21-2007 10:11 PM

2 straight hits for indians.

Galaril 10-21-2007 10:13 PM

WHY the fuck did Francona leave Okajima in for the 8th he already had a semi tough 7th and pitched 2innings. He's got a warmed up Beckett and papelbon. Oh my God.

Galaril 10-21-2007 10:15 PM

Can someone tell why the hell is Carver going on still about that Lofton play still? Does he know the game is 5-2?
