So much for dinner. |
For those waiting to hear from me, I'm waiting to hear from people too. So it's a lot of waiting in a circle. By tomorrow I think I will be comfortably ensconced in Dragonstone, but today I can't yet say where I am.
|
Would be interested in knowing the timetables for decisions on Brienne, hunting parties for me, voting, etc ... are they all coming together as one this afternoon? Or is there some level of separation?
|
Yeah, I thought there would be a Brienne deadline midday?
|
I still have no idea what day it is.
vote no banishment |
I would imagine being raised from the dead by Donaric is where it's at!
|
Actually, I agree, everyone seems to have forgotten the vote.
I'll push the deadline back to 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PDT so everyone can get caught up. |
Quote:
End of the day. And the decision is made anyway. I am writing it up right now. |
Vote Karstark
He wanted my brother dead because he killed his son. I want him dead because his lord was responsible for my brother's death. When will this cycle of madness end? When? Hopefully when Karstark is dead. That's when. |
I'm slooooowly going mad. And paranoid. Wait! Paranoia is a form of madness. So I'm repeating myself. That's a sign of madness, I believe. So I must be going mad. Or paranoid.
|
Word is spreading across the land. It appears that Brienne of Tarth is being returned to Storm's End.
In exchange for Brienne, King Renly has forsworn all of his rights and interests in the lands and keep of Summerhall to House Stark. |
Quote:
Dondarric, Qyburn ... bottom line, seems like there could be some pathways for a possible return. |
Any minute now I'll forget myself and start blurting out Varys' deep, dark secrets. That would be disastrous. Except he has none. He's boring.
Who should I send my raven to today? Selmy do you want a raven? I'm honourable. |
Quote:
It seems that I'm not the only one going mad. Land for a worthless nobody? The Starks grow stronger every day. Anyone got a drink? |
Not much land, for a bannerman who keeps Renly in the game. I'm surprised Robb did not drive a harder bargain on a desperate Renly.
|
Quote:
My deep dark secrets? Would that I had any that were half as....scandalous as yours M'Lady. |
Quote:
Actually, your son sent his own father into battle to die. |
Robb Stark, I don't think my emissary has made the long trip north yet. Hopefully Davos will reach you before night falls, but if not and you have an emissary or a raven free to send, I would appreciate it.
|
And so it appears that at last Lord Tywin has been cornered.
Chased through the Pendric Hills, he falls back to the coastal town of Banefort. Stark Northmen ring the hills about the town. There is nowhere for the Lannister to go... unless his ships come to rescue him! Alas, that does not seem to be in the cards. No red and gold banners are appearing on the horizon. When Lord Karstark approaches the edge of the town, Tywin Lannister is there to meet him. He agrees to come with Karstark, so long as his men are not harmed. Lord Karstark is always suspicious when it comes to Lannisters, but it seems this is a good deal to make. His men take Tywin Lannister into custody and they make for a return to Winterfell. Some leagues away, a trailing scout arrives before Karstark, out of earshot of the captive Lannister lord. "My Lord," the scout says, "there were Lannister ships near that town, hidden around the point beyond the town bay. They only approaches the town after the townspeople signaled for them following your departure!" Curious. It seems that the Lannister could have left Banefort at any time, and escaped once again... |
Quote:
He has. (Long story short, he sent me a message this morning - I asked if it was a raven or emissary, because I wasn't sure, hadn't heard back. When I found out it was emissary, I replied - haven't heard anything yet) |
This is why Cersei would make a terrible leader..
|
Well, I now await the pleasure of Robb Stark.
|
I JUST GOT HOME GUYS GOSH
|
It's a quiet night on the island fortress of Dragonstone.
Melisandre has the veranda doors open to allow the sea wind in and give vent to the incense and vapors rising from the several braziers she has alight in her chambers. Fate calls to her this night, she can feel it. She feels infused in the presence of the Lord of Light. With barely a thought to doing so, she slips from her robe and steps forward to the central fire, in only her skin, and a curved Asshai dagger in her right hand. She traces the dagger point along her forearm, barely a scratch. Blood beads up lightly and starts to trail down her arm and clenched fist. Red drops fall into the small bowl beside the fire, filling the bottom. She waves the dagger across the flames. They lick the blood from the blade, firing up fiercely for but a moment. She places the dagger beside the brazier and takes the bowl. She holds the bowl up and chants in her foreign language. "R'hllor, Lord of Light, fierce is your power, and everlasting is your might. I offer myself to you and to your service, again, now and until you choose to close my eyes to the dark forever." She pours her blood out into the fire. With a powerful spark, the fire jumps, dark smoke billowing from it in clouds, drifting toward the open sea door. Sweat gleans from Melisandre's naked body, sweat intermingled with blood and ash. The fire does not touch her even as she seems to hover over it now, in a trance. Her jaw is slack, her eyes upturned. Her hands are extended above and about the brazier, like a mother preparing to take her child into her arms. The flames dance and shift in patterns. Patterns which can be recognized... They coalesce into sharper images, but only Melisandre is close enough to see them. "Oh my King," she murmurs. "Such destiny awaits you. You are Azor Ahai, the might of R'hllor. Your fire will provide heat through this long winter to come. So do the flames portend." Suddenly, she tenses up, her wiry muscles tightening to cords. Outside of the flicker of the flames and a tapestry flapping in the breeze, no sound now passes from this room. Slowly, she turns her head to look at the sea door, her eye drifting to see behind her. "For the night is dark and full of terrors..." She waves her bloody hand with a vicious chop, and the seawind suddenly shoots into the chambers. The seadoors slam shut, and every fire in the room is extinguished, except for the mighty one before Melisandre. The red glare filters throughout the dark room, revealing a hooded figure not three steps behind the witch. "R'hllor has called for me," she says, turning to the man before her. "He has sent you to take me there." Fervor--or insanity--dances in her eyes, which remain a mysterious and visible glowing red, even with her face shrouded in darkness, her back to the flames. The man steps forward, and with a swift move, his blade shoots forward and under her sternum, piercing her heart. Melisandre's hands fall to his shoulders, gripping, but apparently not with harmful intent. She holds herself up upon her assassin, even as her life's blood drifts away. "Turn to the Light," she says. "And tell your master to as well. For all nonbelievers will burn to keep His Fire burning through the Long Winter." With a last gasp, she crumples to the ground. With a muttered curse, the assassin throws his blade to the ground and runs out to the veranda and the rope down the fortess wall. He seems shaken as he hastily climbs over the parapet edge. THE LADY MELISANDRE HAS BEEN MURDERED BY AN UNKNOWN ASSASSIN! |
Holy balls.
|
Well, well...there goes the faceless man
|
I highly doubt someone spent that much money to kill a bannerman.
|
Melisandre seems like she'd be pretty powerful
|
Someone spent a lot of money to accomplish not much.
|
Very interesting. As someone who has a certain affinity for money, I'm jealous that there are others able to afford an assassin. An effective one, at that.
|
Leaving work. I'll try and answer PM's when I get home.

So I guess it was just your run-of-the-mill, ordinary, everyday assassin... |
Lord Tywin Lannister has bent the knee to King Robb Stark!
Lord Tywin (hoopsguy) is now a bannerman of House Stark. |
Hmmm...that wasn't what I expected to happen..
|
That is quite the turn of events...
|
Additionally, Lord Tywin and King Robb have paid the honor price to cleanse Lord Tywin of his dishonor.
Lord Tywin Lannister is no longer an Enemy of the Realm. |
Guess it beats having Dondarric or someone else try to sew my head back on ...
|
The Red Woman is gone, now we will see what kind of honor and strength Stannis has. Ser Davos must be happy to be rid of her.
|
The Drowned Man of House Greyjoy has been sighted making its way to Winterfell.
|
Now that you see your destiny as foretold by Melisandre is just another fairy tale, you have resorted to denial, Stannis?
|
The truth is Melisandre had served her purpose, and was a poor choice of casualties. Death comes in war, it is those who let their fears become their weakness who will lose.
|
This is all a distraction from what the realm needs. What it doesn't need is another pretender to the throne. If an enemy of the realm is one who betrays his King, then we have one.
VOTE THEON GREYJOY/JULIO RIDDOLS |
Quote:
The boy was in essence a slave because our house was true to the realm and the Targaryens. The Mad King was just that, Mad, but clearly the end results of the affair that deposed him have not been in the best interests of the Seven Kingdoms. Make an enemy out of us if you wish. Stannis, you have a reasonable claim to the throne, being the eldest brother of the late Robert. My only dispute is with the way the throne was won by Robert in the first place. Order must be restored. |
I have not betrayed my king, my king was always my father and I served him proudly, and still do to this day. I think it is foolish of you to lead the charge to claim me an enemy of the realm when you know our ships and perhaps others could be at your door in a moments notice. My father will not hesitate to give you peace.
|
I have met with no emissary of yours, Balon, nor have one to send you. But it seems my choice is between your bannermen or those of Robb Stark, who has fought at my side. An easy choice.
|
I have stood true to my word and my allies every day, and I will continue to do so. The victory in battle was hard won, but it has restored my honor. I hope that those who stand on the sidelines in this game of thrones will help to put a man like me on the Iron Throne.
|
Does everyone realize that the deadline is in 20 mins. It seems like there has not been any votes other then the one Stannis has placed.
|
Let me think here. A man vowed to serve me, then fled on the eve of battle, and swears in rebellion to another King? We could have been friends, Theon - I deal fairly to everyone. Alas, it was not meant to be.
Vote Theon Greyjoy/Julio |
Man, sorry again for the click Starks. Haven't made a mistake all game and then twice today.
|
I think a lot were probably just assuming deadline was later this evening. That's what I had in my head, and a lot of others don't show up until then, so I expect some people in an hour or two, lol.
|
I think it's 1 vote for Karstark, 2 for Theon.
|
Vote - Theon
An enemy by any other name. You ran from your Lord Liege |
We'll stay consistent:
Brienne of Tarth votes Axell Florent Ser Cortnay Penrose votes Axell Florent King Renly Baratheon votes Axell Florent |
Ser Axell is an upstanding knight of great reputation. Your condemnation of him demonstrates your character, brother.
|
InBlue votes Theon Greyjoy/Julio
claphamsa votes Theon Greyjoy/Julio |
Quote:
that me right? DICK! |
I think it is clear what is at work here. We could indeed have been brothers Robb, but it never would have been anything but a title. We could never truly be family.
For everyone else, I implore you to consider where you place your trust. Stannis claims to be forthright, but his claims are far from reliable. I am an easy target, just as all of his enemies have been up to this point. He preys on the weak and uses the rest of you to enforce his will. If you all enjoy being pawns, please continue showing support for a man who wants the head of all those who stand between him and the throne. You see how he casts aside his allies when they are no longer of use to him, or when they have died while serving him. Be my guest in continuing to play his game. |
Vote Axell Florent
|
Tywin/Hoops votes for Theon Greyjoy/Julio
|
You accuse me of unseemly ambition, Theon? If I were a laughing man, that would be worth one.
|
He continues to vote for his bannermen as well. Men who have no voice are not men. I find it laughable that anyone would faithfully serve him.
|
Quote:
Brienne stares. |
Father, we have more than enough sway to ensure this does not affect our family. We will know where we stand in the realm when the remaining votes are cast by those who claim no affiliation.
|
It seems like there are two good options for the vote today. Fortunately, it isn't one of my bannerman. Unfortunately, I don't have any bannerman. Fortunately, I am voting for one of you scoundrels. Unfortunately, it is Theon I am voting for(well for him).
Vote Theon/Julio |
Those who stand and refuse to cast a vote simply mark themselves as enemies of everyone in an attempt to be everyone's friend.
|
(I actually can imagine Joffrey saying all that, lol)
|
Oh, and Renly I think your emissary got lost on the way to my tent since I have not heard from him at all today.
|
DEADLINE
|
vote chief rum... was i too late?
|
Ok, so everyone has decided to ally against us except for Renly. Stannis leads the charge. Renly, I would be readying myself for a war if I were you.
|
FINAL VOTE TALLY DAY 6 Lord Rickard Karstark (MrBug708): Cersei (Narcizo)-- 1/2 vote Theon Greyjoy (Julio Riddols): Stannis (Autumn), Robb (Coffee Warlord), Karstark (MrBug708), Davos (InBlue), Florent (claphamsa), Tywin (hoopsguy), Joffrey (Zinto)-- 10 votes Ser Axell Florent (claphamsa): Brienne (fontisian), Penrose (Darth Vilus), Renly (path12), Theon (Julio Riddols)-- 5 votes NO LYNCH: Littlefinger (saldana) |
The word goes out across the land... and draws a ho-hum.
"He's not an Enemy of the Realm already?" exclaims one peasant to a passing pilgrim. "He betrayed the Starks, and then rose up in rebellion as a Greyjoy, right? I'm so confused." Indeed, Theon Greyjoy is now an Enemy of the Realm, and up until now, he was still in good standing, as far as the King's Justice was concerned. Now he faces a decision. Flee or Throw Himself On The Mercy of his father, King Balon, a man not much taken with the concept of mercy. Balon himself can have him Killed, Disavowed, or go with the Mercy option. Decisions due by 1 p.m. EST (10 a.m. PDT) TUESDAY |
Not getting out wrap up PMs right away, but they will go out tonight.
|
Well dad, what do you plan on?
|
So as Master of Coin, I am privy to certain bits of financial information from when the realm was intact. Because of this, I can tell you that based upon my calculations, no one but a "King" could have afforded the assassin that killed Melisandre.

And yet my son is still in the "game" despite no bannerman. I do not purport to understand the ways of you self-proclaimed kings. |

Lord Renly, I wish to thank you for killing the red witch. I can almost forgive you for embroiling my son in your familial dispute and dragging my brother to his death. Almost, but not quite. I understand as well as the next man the cold comfort of revenge. You have a little more of my respect. I hope my respect follows you to your grave. Soon.

Quote:
Karstark. The Mountain is dead. Ding dong! The witch is dead. Have you noticed that the "non-existant" candidates of Lord Varys tend to die. It seems the Spider's kiss is a kiss of death. Sleep with your armour on, my lord, and keep your sword close. |
Quote:
I was afraid of that. I apologize. |
Quote:
Nice try. I've been donating a ton of money to the poor because of the last few votes. |
Quote:
War? No-one bar Renly has the mettle to go to war. They would sit in their castles plotting to, maybe, vote for someone to be accused of treason, and that takes hours of negotiations and discussion to maneouvre into commiting to such a small thing. I realise that Varys has no balls but I didn't know the condition was contagious. Joffrey and the seafolk cannot declare war on anyone because they would be met immediately on the field of battle and would lose. Stannis hopes Joffrey will ally with him or bend the knee so he won't attack my son, and does not have the strength to attack anyone else. Renly cannot declare war because his enemies would join against him. And Stark cannot go to war because he has the bravery and decisiveness of a frightened kitten. I believe it is time for the Starks to change their emblem from the dreaded direwolf to a rabbit. |
Quote:
Who else would want to spend that much coin to kill a now insignificant witch? The High Septon, perchance? Had I the money then I might have done so but, much as it pains me to admit, my means are humbler than that. It is well known that you were - attached, to your Knight of Flowers and would want to avenge his death, much as I would avenge the death of Jaime. Had not the Tarth troll done the job for me. She shouldn't expect favours from me. Had Jamie not taken it into his fool head to save her then it would be her being buried, unmourned in her case, and not the finest knight in the realm. I find it more interesting that you would bother to deny the matter though. Perhaps the assassain was intended for me? Yes that seems likely. You are in league with the Spider after all aren't you? I've told the Spider, I'll tell you, I'll tell the entire realm. You can send an army of assassains against me but they will not succeed. I am protected. Nobody can touch me. Nobody can ... touch ... me. |
Quote:
Welcome to the Stannis-Stark legal monopoly my lord. Should you wish to avoid the same fate befalling your daughter I suggest you act decisively today. But good luck turning Stannis against Stark. Stannis will follow Stark to the precipice and then merrily allow My Lord Stark to push him over it. |
Quote:
Indeed. Pray forgive me Lord Spider, I misspoke. One so meagre of ambition or flair that he aspires to nothing more than acting as a messenger boy can have no dark secrets. And don't think I haven't seen your little birds, flitting around my gardens, twittering to each other. It would be a shame if a cat were to come and kill them all. And the spider directing them. |
Quote:
If Lord Varys wishes me dead, then so be it. I don't get too flustered with people not liking me as it comes with being a Lord. You wouldn't understand. |
Oh Lord Varys doesn't wish you dead my lord. Quite the opposite. He wants you alive. *whispers* but he doesn't actually care. Were I you I would want Varys dead. He has marked you for death without you, or he, knowing of it. You aren't important to him now. He has other things to worry about.
Were I you? I do want him dead. Were you me would you want him dead? I would. And I am. And I do. Do you want him dead? Do you want me dead? I believe you do. Do you? Do you work with him? Do you work with them? I believe you do. Not. Know. No? |

I hate to be so quick to judge madness - My former Hand Lord Bolton was a far better judge of how far a person could descend into insanity and madness than I.
Best not ask where he learned the trade, though. |
Quote:
Lady Cersei, I did not say that I had no secrets. Simply that I had none that were as...titillating as yours. My ambitions are as they have always been, for peace and stability. If the cat were to attack the spider I daresay the cat would find that the spider's venom is a powerful thing. Varys |
Interesting.
Lady Cersei admits that she wishes me dead. Such a frank admission in the midst of her madness. Unfortunately, she lacks the means to follow through on this desire. |
Lord Karstark,
I do believe that there is a kernel of truth in what Lady Cersei says. I do not hold any special regard to whether you live or die, beyond that that I hold for all men to live, but it does seem that perhaps someone is focused on removing from the game those who they believe I hold special favor for.
