so why don't we look at king?

he's been quiet, he comes in throws a vote on and leaves without any reason.
the sith have laid low all game and let 2 jedi fight it out. What is the worst that happens, we lose a jedi...from the looks of it we're going to lose one anyhow.

Here's my problem. Hoops is the other person I'd consider voting for right now. But I think it's entirely possible that hoops is being kept alive to draw votes and attention. People keep saying he hasn't produced anything of substance, but that accusation could apply to any of us. There really isn't much to go on at all so I'm not suprised he hasn't pulled a rabbit out of his hat. So this vote feels like every other one. A damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario.

Ah, I see. I misread his follow up post. In fact, it was Google that pointed him to Wikipedia.

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:15 PM

The only thing I have positive/negative on King in this game is that he missed the vote in the AE/Dubb showdown. I think a Sith would have wanted to have his vote on Ardent there to try and keep Dubb alive if they knew of each other.

I like this option better than stkelly, frankly. King has been very quiet overall. Which is not always his MO.

cartman 03-08-2006 08:16 PM

well, we've got 15 minutes to sort this out

Poli 03-08-2006 08:16 PM

And here's King.

Poli 03-08-2006 08:16 PM

I'm willing to vote King.

cartman 03-08-2006 08:17 PM

Completely off topic, but AE, you've got a couple of spaces at the end of the URL in your sig that points to your MySpace page.

You can look at me, but all you will find is just a normal Jedi Knight. You don't seem to overly concerned about losing a jedi. Why is that?

I didn't think tangle was a Sith yesterday and that's why I voted AE. I don't think Taz is a Sith either. Stkelly I don't really have a real read on, but there is something about AE that just doesn't seem right and that is why he has my vote again.

Duly noted.

kingfc22 03-08-2006 08:20 PM

Okay, look who has numerous votes right now: AE, Hoops and Stkelly.

Watch very carefully who moves their name to me and who they remove their vote from.

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:20 PM

Also off topic - congrats on 10,000 posts Ardent.

Poli 03-08-2006 08:21 PM

Thanks, I hadn't realized I eclipsed 10000. I knew I was getting close.

Poli 03-08-2006 08:22 PM

I'm not diving in to kingfc22 without a solid showing of others switching over.

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:22 PM

If people are going to jump from Stkelly to King I'm game, but I'm very worried about late movement here that leaves me in a tie. So I'm not going to be leaving stkelly just yet.

stkelly52 03-08-2006 08:22 PM

I am torn here. I could move my vote to King, and it might help save me, but I don't see any semiconvincing arguments for king other than the fact that he has been rather quiet.

Could it be because you don't want to paint a bigger bullseye on yourself since I will show up as a Jedi?

cartman 03-08-2006 08:24 PM

so, where do we sit with votes at this 5 minutes to go point?

No, but it could be your repeated votes for me, a Jedi.

Honestly, are there good arguments for anyone at this point? Everyday has felt like day one so far.

Although it is a tie at this point, correct? So is it guaranteed Hoops is the one?

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:35 PM

Final votes as I show them:

ardent - KWhit (1360)
stkelly - AE (1305), Sack (1325), cartman (1336), path (1363), Hoops (1380)
Hoops - Penny (1309), Gram (1350), Taz (1390), King (1433), stkelly (1435)
King - SnDvls (1330), Desnudo (1410)

StKelly, if you are Jedi and you die as a result of our tie, I'm sorry that I had to vote for you.

this will make it interesting now

kingfc22 03-08-2006 08:37 PM

An extension, interesting...

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:39 PM

OK, I can still give the information out if we need it, but I would really prefer not to as it makes me an easy target tonight. However, I believe the bodyguard is still out there (have not seen the lightsaber that matches the one seen in Night 2 beating back Sith) so I will do it if the group thinks it makes sense.

I'm not the seer, bodyguard, or duke. I think this one is special to Star Wars, more or less ...

Vince 03-08-2006 08:39 PM

Not a big fan of that extension...kind of kills the strategy of those who waited until the end to swap over to Hoops.

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:41 PM

Agreed, Vince. Although I'm not a big fan of being swapped over to in this case  :(

Poli 03-08-2006 08:41 PM

Wow, an extension.

Looks like I'll be beating some students into the ground in an hour. Anyone want to come over and watch?

Poli 03-08-2006 08:42 PM

So, hoops, what's the deal?

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:42 PM

In the interest of fairness I'm willing to sit and wait 30 minutes for Saldana to come back without revealing any more information than I already have. And hope that I don't lose the tie-breaker.

I have to disagree with this. That unbalances the game. What if hoops wasn't around to defend himself? Or if it had swung to somebody else who wasn't around?

Desnudo 03-08-2006 08:49 PM

It already has.

Desnudo 03-08-2006 08:50 PM

I mean the game has swung.

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:51 PM

OK, if we are using the extension ...

My initial PM (fairly heavy paraphrasing) said that I was strong in the force but didn't give me any special abilities. It didn't sound like generic Jedi, but without any night actions I was playing as an ordinary villager.

This morning I got a PM after Jeeber died indicating that I was deeply saddened by the death of Jeeber but knew that he was not yet gone for me. That, coupled with his death scene (1292), makes me suspect that my role has been activated.

SackAttack 03-08-2006 08:51 PM

Yes it has, but it went from being a tie vote to a player being in danger of a lynch because of an improper deadline extension. For the deadline to get extended literally at the last minute isn't fair.

If, at the start of the day, an extended deadline had been announced, that would be one thing.

At this point, it's an extension that allows those on the board to swing in one direction or another, but those not around don't have the opportunity to change their vote that everybody else is gaining right now.

Poli 03-08-2006 08:51 PM

Doh! I just realized my unvote of stkelly would possibly put the breaker on hoopsguy, unless someone like Des wants to revote stkelly.

Poli 03-08-2006 08:54 PM

I'll buy that. I don't think you would type that in the beginning of the day to save your hide in the end. Possible, but I doubt it.

Des?

Desnudo 03-08-2006 08:55 PM

stkelly, any particular role to play in this?

saldana 03-08-2006 08:55 PM

well here is a serious fuck up on my part then....no matter what i decide to do at this point, i forced hoops' hand. i apologize for the enormous screw up....voting is closed...stand by

Desnudo 03-08-2006 08:57 PM

Saldana, we still have 5 minutes on your deadline. I'd say either revert to 9:30 or give us the extra time.

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 08:58 PM

If I lose the tie-breaker because AE removed the vote between 8:30 and 9 (CST), and then put it back, thus changing who dies, only to have voting closed 5 minutes ahead of extension, then I will be frustrated. Everything else I'm basically OK with. I don't want to nit-pick at what has been a fun game. And my wife will appreciate having me around in the evenings again ...

ok, again i apologize, this screw up is totally on me, i wasnt really thinking straight when i put the extension on because i only had about 30 seconds to post and the votes moving around completely fucked everything up. i am going back to the 9:30 vote totals...ardents and denudos votes after that don't count...my open apology to hoops for pressuring him unnecessarily and forcing his hand.

saldana 03-08-2006 09:21 PM

You gather slowly in the galley, entering one at a time, no one in a real hurry to get down to what, to this point, has been generally very unpleasant. Tonight doesnt seem like it is going to be much better, as the votes for several members of your group flew fast and furious throughout the day.

As night falls, the vote is tied. Hoopsguy and StKelly52 both stand at the front of the room, seemingly waiting for some kind of final decision. The last man enters the room, it is Sndvls. "Wait a moment," he says with a very monotone voice and a vacant stare on his face. "I don't want to vote for Kingfc22. I want to vote for StKelly52".

A look of horror crosses StKelly's face, as the tie is now broken, and his fate is decided. He ignites a turquoise bladed lightsaber and swings at the nearest person. SackAttack narrowly avoids the deadly blow and ignites his own weapon to meet StKelly's attack.

The battle is short, StKelly is not nearly as expericened a swordsman as SackAttack, and this becomes evident as several times Sack has an opportunity to fell his opponent and holds back. StKelly will not relent however, and in the end, Sack is left with no choice. An overagressive swing at Sack's head is nimbly ducked, Sack dropping to one knee. He extends his blade forward and artfully carves a huge letter 'S' into StKelly's chest with the tip of his lightsaber.

The battle is over, StKelly is dead. And although he fought agressively, his ability was not that of a someone who was channeling anger and hatred. In fact, his face and aura both conveyed a certain sense of desperation, certainly not one of the emotions that the Dark Side feeds upon.

day 6 has ended (and with it, all saldana's credibility as a DM)

night actions are due by 9:30am on thursday

I think we all left so you could post actions. people are coming back now.

I don't fault you for your change/re-change. you made a quick decision, but I feel corrected it...

now it looks like I too have been mind swapted just like Ardent.
I had a similar experience too. all I remember is a hooded person and me saying I didn't want to vote King I wanted to vote StKelly....hmmm

hoopsguy 03-08-2006 09:27 PM

Glad to be around, although I was pretty sure that Stkelly was Jedi. I hate self-preservation votes.

Still believe the bodyguard is out there and hope he is around to protect me tonight. I rarely ask for this, but after the forced reveal I think that I'm a pretty likely target.

I think SnDvls' forced vote goes a long, long way towards backing Ardent's story.

If the bodyguard is still in the game and in the mood to take advice, if it isn't me you are guarding then it should be Ardent.

Desnudo 03-08-2006 09:27 PM

Seems to be implying he wasn't. He didn't call upon anger and hatred. Only desperation (although I would argue that desperation = fear of a kind, and fear is another path to the Dark Side).

But it does look like saldana meant to imply he was a Jedi.

SackAttack 03-08-2006 09:29 PM

Correction: that first sentence should have read "seems to be implying he was."

cartman 03-08-2006 09:30 PM

It doesn't look good for SnDvls tomorrow. I think he is being sacrificed by the DM for the mistake.

To me, that means that there are more than two Siths out there.

It doesn't sound like he's evil by any stretch. Especially compared to Dubb's death. What I mainly was wondering is if he wasn't someone aligned with the Jedi, but not a Jedi. The mention that his saber skills weren't equal to yours sort of implies that as well.
