Yes!

He steals every show he's in (maybe even some he isn't ;))

Time Lapse is a pretty entertaining sci-fi type thing about a group of roommates who find a camera that can take pictures of the future and try to use it to make money. Reminded me a little of Shallow Grave.

Barkeep49 10-11-2015 09:32 PM

I'll tell you what I'm not watching on Netflix: Season 4 of Person of Interest. It was supposed to debut September 22 but it's apparently having "technical issues" which are preventing them from posting it. There is no word on when this delay will be resolved.

I liked the series but at times I felt like it was wayyyyyyy too much Voiceover. The acting was great. I'm not sure if I agree with their decision to burn up 9-12 years of Escobar material in one season, however.

I liked the whole documentary + procedural + drug kingpin angle the show had going on. Still really, really impressed with Wagner Moura.

I agree with the last part. Are they only going to do 2-3 seasons? So much material at their disposal and they went through it pretty quick.

sachmo71 10-22-2015 03:18 PM

Black Mirror is great for SF fans. also, you can see...a lot of Haley Atwell.

Honolulu_Blue 10-29-2015 08:49 AM

I know it's been a bit of a divisive series here, but I finally finished the first season of Sense8.

I thought it was fantastic. I loved it. It got better as the season went on and there a couple of scenes in the last few episodes where I literally jumped up off my couch and pumped my fist.

Out of the eight main characters and their respective side-kicks and periphery characters, I really only found one (and her side-kick) annoying. That's impressive.

stevew 10-29-2015 02:37 PM

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is solidly funny. I'd endorse it more if a few characters weren't horrible. The Stepdad for instance

ISiddiqui 10-29-2015 02:43 PM

Yeah, it's the unfortunate Tina Fey thing where basically anyone outside of the City is a complete rube.

Mike Lowe 10-29-2015 03:31 PM

I NEVER get sucked into series, but Narcos totally has me hooked. I love it, and just finished episode 5 of 10.

tarcone 10-29-2015 03:45 PM

I may have posted this before, but when you get done with Narcos, watch Pablo Escobar: The Lord of Evil.
It is produced by a columbian company. It's production value isn't great. But it tells the story from all sides in Columbia. Medellin cartel, the government, the national police, the newspaper. It is really good.
It is also 74 episodes long. But I can't get enough.

Groundhog 10-29-2015 05:16 PM

On the subject of Narcos, I have to give it to Pedro Pascal - he puts on a pretty darn good American accent for my ears. Really solid in this series (as with Game of Thrones), and probably my favorite character.

stevew 10-29-2015 05:20 PM

Been watching Bloodlines. I struggle with shows that jump from point to point out of sequence. I'm enjoying it though, but it's not as good as The Affair (a very similar show)

stevew 10-29-2015 05:25 PM

Also burned through season 3 of OITNB the other week. I guess I enjoy it but sometimes they lose focus. Too much Crazy Eyes for example. She's just super frustrating to watch and there's zero reward. Also either integrate Sophia into the main cast or just cut her. Seems like she only appears when they wanna do an "issue of the week" type episode.

I just finished this a week or so ago. I thought Season 3 was the strongest season of the show to date. Loved it.

sabotai 11-07-2015 10:39 PM

Watched Master of None, Aziz Ansari's Netflix show. Really enjoyed it despite the horrible acting (and I'll give the couple playing his parents a pass because they actually were his parents). The 2nd episode was especially hilarious. Then it got all real and serious in the last two episodes. Really good show.

Mota 11-08-2015 05:23 PM

Wow, seriously? That's crazy. I LOVED his parents on the show. The "Parents" episode is just great. I've watched the first 3 episodes so far. Obviously he has lived life, to be able to write these stories.

stevew 11-10-2015 08:41 AM

Master of None was pretty great

Last two episodes were fantastic with how tense they were.

I thought the opening of that episode especially was one of the most brilliant things I've seen in comedy in years.

ISiddiqui 11-12-2015 09:44 AM

I binge watched 6 eps of Master of None yesterday on Veteran's Day. This is a great show! I liked his parents on the show as well (I mean they were basically playing themselves and did fine). Well done Netflix.

I thought last season was bad. No real major storyline and nothing else really made me interested. Just seems like the writers ran out of ideas and decided a bunch of zany scenes with the characters was enough to appease viewers.

Kind of funny but it's made by the same person behind Weeds which also saw a huge dropoff after Season 2. Maybe she should just be given shows with 25 episodes total which would be great.

Is it all in spanish? I don't mind some subtitles but not sure I want to go 74 hours into a show of them.

Narcos was great. The best show Netflix has done to date.

ISiddiqui 11-12-2015 10:46 AM

YMMV, I thought Season 3 was better than Season 2. I'm glad they didn't go with "major storyline" and decided to deal more with slice of life stuff instead. The Vee story went off the rails pretty easily, IMO.

MikeVic 11-12-2015 10:49 AM

OITNB is one of the few current shows I look forward to. I don't think there was too much Crazy Eyes - I liked her stuff. I like most of the characters on the show, and it gives me genuine laughs.

I'm watching Master of None. I can't figure it out. I am enjoying it. But it's like a comedy with a social conscience. Sometimes laying heavily on the social conscience side.

stevew 11-12-2015 11:48 PM

?

It's just funny

Pretty sure several of the jokes were Harris Wittles bits as well

Barkeep49 11-15-2015 08:47 AM

Master of None definitely has a message but I think it prioritizes comedy which is what I want my comedies to do.

tarcone 11-15-2015 11:01 AM

Pablo Escobar: Lord of Evil is in spanish. All subtitles. I watch it on my computer, so its not bad.
The opening shows the statement, Im paraphrasing, Those who dont know history are bound to repeat it.
So it is telling Columbians, you need to know the story or we will go through the terror again.

But it is way more in depth then Narcos.

Last week I watched the first episode of "The 100"....today I watched the last episode of season 2. It pulls you in slowly...but surely. Good show!

The 100 (TV series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Quote:

The series is set 97 years after a devastating nuclear war wiped out almost all life on Earth. The only known survivors lived on 12 space stations in Earth's orbit prior to the war. The space stations banded together to form a single massive station named "The Ark", where about 2,400 people live under the leadership of Chancellor Jaha. Resources are scarce, so all crimes – regardless of their nature or severity – are punishable by ejection into space ("floating") unless the perpetrator is under 18 years of age. After the Ark's life-support systems are found to be critically failing, 100 juvenile prisoners are declared "expendable" and sent to the surface – nearby former Washington, D.C. – in a last ditch attempt to determine if Earth is habitable again, in a program called "The 100", for which the show is named.

Gotta wait for July for season 3.

Yeah, the casting was well done in every role, I feel. But Sewell definitely stood out. The end of the season really makes me excited to see what directions they'll go in a Season 2.

Though, of course, it's on Amazon Prime... not Netflix ;).

Peregrine 12-12-2015 11:53 AM

There's a really neat British show on Netflix now (first season at least) called Detectorists. It's kind of a low-key comedy about a pair of metal-detecting buddies and their friends and loved ones. Only 6 half-hour episodes so not much time invested. It stars and is written and directed by MacKenzie Crook, and is really well put together.

Plus this amazing theme song!

nol 12-12-2015 12:30 PM

Beasts of No Nation was really good. Strong performances from Idris Elba and the child actor Abraham Attah, and visually the film was reminiscent of Apocalypse Now.

Also, (to add my own "that you haven't seen yet") a movie from South Korea that I don't see mentioned much that I really liked was The Man From Nowhere.

I need to see that. Check out "Crossing the Line" if you haven't yet. Not on Netflix anymore but I think Amazon has it for like $2. Documentary about a US Soldier who defected to North Korea during the Korean War. Fascinating look inside the country.

Also if you're into a book, Dear Leader is fascinating.

I really really liked this show. It is one of my favorite shows I have seen in a long time. I was even able to catch the second season which just finished airing in Britain and that was just as good as the first.

It is tough to describe. It is low key, just an enjoyable watch. It is kind of slice of life stuff, not really crazy plot twists and high intrigue, but just a relaxing experience that works great in the 30 minute bites.

We've got through the two series and the special in the last week, had never seen it til it was mentioned on here. Season one was the peak for me. Season two was too much on the drama and not enough on the comedy side of the comedy-drama mix.

Just in case you missed it, there was a one-off Detectorists Christmas special shown in the UK on Dec 23rd.

Inspired to Ride is about the Tran Am bike race - a completely self-supported bike race across the US. The Barkley Marathons is about the hardest ultra race in the world - one in which almost no one ever finishes.

They'll either get you juiced to do your own stupid human trick or make you curl up into a ball on your couch.

Not sure if anyone else is or has watched Stranger Things on Netflix. I am only 4 episodes in and I can safely say this mini-series is pretty amazing. Nothing really new at all but for someone who grew up in the 80's it reeks of so many different 80's movies and shows. I highly recommend giving it a watch. Now things could totally go off the rails the last four episodes but so far I am really enjoying things.

This show is AMAZING. I binged it and finished the 8 episodes.

Imagine an 8 hour movie that combines ET, The Goonies, Poltergeist, Alien, and Firestarter.

What a terrific show.

I wanted to binge all 8 episodes but we started watching about 8:30pm last night with my 15, 16 and 23 year old. Will it be more seasons of different stories? Or is it a one and done? or does this tale continue?

Stephen King even thought so. He said it was like watching Stephen King's greatest hits, and that he meant that as a compliment.

Finished the series and it did not disappoint. Probably the best I have seen in a long time and honestly cannot think of a better min series or whatever you classify the 8 episodes as. High quality with a whole bunch of great acting.

Watched the first episode of Stranger Things last night, was just too late to start the 2nd. Excited to kick it back on tonight.

Had to do a search and only found a couple posts on Bloodlines. We binged both seasons recently over about a week.

Fantastic series! Exceptional acting and great if you really like character development and the interconnections of people and family. Its really solid in that nobody is "good" or "bad", just realistically portrayed characters with flaws of their own.

I've been watching Halt and Catch Fire which is a show that I've had in mind but never sat down to watch it. It's good. Not great but good. Four dysfunctional people who are flawed to their cores trying to make their way during the computer age of the 1980s.
