So, here's my babysitter...I've mentioned her before. She's an aspiring model. She's finally branched out into some other styles of shots. I didn't do these ones, but it's a leap from her previous work.

haha. No, I can't convince my wife I need a sitter. She actually watches our twins. (pause for the inevitable "I'll watch her twins" comment). I've known her since she was in my class years ago and I'm close to the family. The babysitting started as a trade off. She wanted portfolio pics when she first got into modeling. I did those in exchange for weekend sitting for date nights with the Mrs. That lead to us hiring her full time once she graduated. I now help her keep her schedule, negotiate contracts, and do her finances because of my accounting background. It's a win-win. I always believed she could do it, but then I saw these pics. She's got as good a chance as anyone.

Plus, I figured this site is the demographic she's after....so hey, why not do a test run for you guys! :D :D

To me it's too much makeup. She's got a Christina Aguilera vibe going on. It probably doesn't help that I'm likely around her Dad's age than somebody who would date her. Girls her age haven't done anything for me in a long time. She can likely make some money in the biz, but I would definitely point her to still getting a degree, etc...

Tough crowd. :) though I can see where a few points are coming from. ...and definitely agree that a degree should always be a focus. these were such a large departure from what I've taken that I wanted to share. after looking through modeling agencies to book some other models for my own portfolio, I can see her making it. You can find flaws in most. but there's a luck element to I believe.

I'm probably just slightly buzzed & putting a spin on this that isn't there but ... she looks kind of uncomfortable in those pics, in a "I don't really want to be doing this but I need to for my career" kind of way. Especially in the first one, that doesn't look like "thoughtful far away", it looks like "emotional & mental shut down frozen in time".

The pics become the tiniest bit creepy when you get that vibe from them.

Her face is no worse than Scarlett Johansson and with better looking lips, though not in the same league body-wise.

To get specific. Just going back a couple of pages, compare Mila Kunis to Johansson. Mila's eyes are better (esp. around the eyes) and her lips are in better proportion to her face. Johansson's lips are too full for such a narrow, thin face thus causing a slight distortion. Plus Mila is not a blonde and that's another advantage.

But then again, I expect all of you kids to think as a mob and not critically. :)

Compared to the average women i've met in my life the babysitter is very attractive. Compared to what I expect to see in a magazine I would think she would probably have to have some plastic surgery to live up to our horribly narrow and shallow standards and to fit in. That's probably a pretty sad commentary on the state of beauty and all that in our society.

"I don't know art, but I know what I like" imo. Its not a mob mentality or a critical analysis of individual facial features for me. Its that I look at pictures of her and say to myself "that's very sexy, I like that" ... doesn't really go much past that! :D

That certainly is true, Radii. Some like blondes best, some don't. Some like duck lips, some don't. Some like porcelin complexion, some don't. It does come down to simple personal preferences, except when one's prefences conflict with someone elses.

See, I'm kind of mixed on that. She claims it was the best shoot she ever has and hasn't stopped talking about it. Yet, my best friend put it best when he said they look "soulless"
It's not her normal pictures. Shoots with me or with other photographers have brought out her smile. Was this the photographers commands? To look serious? Or more of what you were thinking. Would need to see the same shots with a different photographer to really know.

That probably is. For the area we live in, she's great. Better than any other model I've found. Nationally? Who knows. I'm always going to be biased since I've seen her grow up since she was 5. I know there are some famous models with less than ideal faces. But all great models have something great about them.

See the picture a few posts up. :) In discussing what different photographers can do with the same model, it brings up a good point of judging a model from a few selected sample. Most of what I have seen of Johansson have been from this thread and some of the shots were not flattering. Just like with the babysitter perhaps - more examples would be needed.

Edit: Also to add a point about a photograph not offering a complete picture of a person.

Although for the total package of beauty, brains, and personality, Gwyneth Paltrow has been tracking really high on my list. First significantly older woman I've been able to say that about since I was 16 or 17.

She named her friggin kid apple. I can't go for a woman like that. I'm gonna have to turn her down.

For probably the seven thousandth time on this forum, attractiveness is subjective. What one finds attractive, another may find ugly. You can not prove something is or is not attractive for someone else. There is no right or wrong.

Yes, I took this shot on mother's day, thanks for the comment. We went there hoping to get some good shots of the kids...they didn't cooperate, so I took some of the grounds instead. Those I liked! :)

Been there. My dad used to have a church just outside of Mitchell, so we did our family Xmas gatherings at the inn there in the park.

(I only live about an hour or so away from Mitchell anyway.)

Apparently the incident took place in Houston this past weekend during a game against the Diamondbacks. The D-Back announcers, Mark Grace and Darron Sutton, had the little girl tracked down and gave her a bunch of D-Back gear.
