Agreed... I thin it could be savvy because of drawing in a certain portion of the voters in a category that is pretty wide-open imo. Only thing I wonder is if it could have waited a few rounds.

This pick seems to fit with the trend that I expected with this category which I think will hurt many contestants in the long run.

Once I picked You Really Got Me for my cover I worried that The Kinks might be off the board for my 6.10 - I agree it's a bit of a reach, but I really liked this as my love song.

OK but i don't see how it isn't an anti establishment song and you can't make the argument that the majority of people who vote won't see it as one. It certainly is a song everyone will know.

And fwiw, I can't hear Lola without thinking of Weird Al's Yoda. :)

Don't get me wrong, I think it fits very clearly in that category and the American Idiot album is one of my favorite "end-to-end" albums in the last 5 years.

Yeah, Celebration is the best of the rest.

The more I think about it, the more I think Thriller would have been a solid 1st rounder.

Maybe I am just missing the defination of the catergory for party song. While celebrate is a fun song, it doesn't scream sex, drugs and rock and roll to me.

Maybe I did reach for Gary Glitter (OK, I did)... but I don't see how that song isn't considered one of the top arena songs of all time. It's got catchiness, and you can't tell me there are many better songs at getting 20,000 people fired up. Maybe I'm in the minority (and judging by the comments, I am), but I had to stick up for my pick a bit there.

That choice of words is just disturbing.

I thought it was one of the top 4 or 5 options for Arena Song... Maybe the problem is it's more Arena Song than Arena Rock - particulary by the definition that ML layed out... I think if we were doing a Jock Rock category it's a clear #1, it's a little bit hazier with this category definition.
