I almost never have anyone that is listed for loan interested in me either except a few guys from the amateur leagues in Northern Ireland & Scotland.

One thing that does frustrate me is that right now, it's pointless for me to have a parent club. The only guys they offer me are already listed for loan and usually accept a loan bid from a much bigger club. In 2 seasons I haven't got a single guy from my parent club because of this.

I have had pretty good lick here. I have Chelsea as my parent club (I am playing L1 Millwall) and get 2-3 offers a season from Chelsea directly, plus hit on about 40 percent of the guys I ask them to loan me.

LOL me too. never had a Parent club before so it helps out when your Carlisle and need some good players.

Flasch186 11-18-2007 04:25 PM

is it the same as it used to be to extract it, as is, to the /my documents/SI/WWSM2008/db folder?

bhlloy 11-18-2007 07:01 PM

Yeah, Chelsea to Millwall isn't anywhere near as big a drop as Liverpool to Northwich. Next time I will try and get a Championship team at the most, although I think all my choices were Premiership.

It doesn't have to be in /db. I've set up folders for skins, logos, facepacks, etc.....or you could just do a catchall for graphics if you wanted.

Has anyone heard how close an official patch is at this point? I know the beta patch is out, but I'm not real keen on downloading a beta.

lighthousekeeper 11-18-2007 09:01 PM

According to this, it should be out in a few days ("early next week" as stated this past week):

Thanks! I used the approach you and Marc suggested (tergeting Transfer Listed players) and it works - I've finally been able to get a player in on loan! I can't believe I've been able to survive managing 3 seasons without that knowledge.

Glad its helped - one of the problems with FM is that it 'presumes' a lot of soccer knowledge generally in some cases (such as this).

We've been trying to improve things through the built in help and wizards, but its very easy for developers to forget that not everyone in the world is an devout soccer fan ..... not yet anyway ;)

first time ever I accepted a job as manager of an African national team. Ivory Coast offered me the job in February 2010 as I have Juventus squarely in 2nd place in Serie A

FM

see what I can do with them, or how long I want to stay with them.

in FM 2007 I was actually fired from a couple national team jobs.

Passacaglia 11-20-2007 07:04 AM

Isn't the patch supposed to be out today?

Me too, I was hired as the USA manager, didn't do well in my first WC, won the WC in the next go round, and then didn't qualify in the next and I got the AXE.

You'd think if I won the WC in the USA - not only would there be a statue of me but I think I'd have some friggin wiggle room national side. :)

i bounced around quite a bit in 07 in my 25 year career.

columbia (took them up to 6th in the world) - left amicably for
england (maintained them at 3rd in the world) - fired after a decent WC showing but not making the finals
portugal (where i am currently, poaching some great young kids to my squad and holding them steady)

what's really gratifying is seeing the continued success that all the kids I brought into the columbian squad have had. Hell...Barca bought one of their strikers for $70 million or something. And I myself grabbed one or two of the stud young defenders.

and columbia is still top...6 or so in the world i believe

edit: this is all off the top of my head, and i know i missed a stint in italy and i think one in france too. i will load it up tonight and edit the post to reflect my actual international career.

I've had a game or two like that. I've enjoyed "simming" for a good 15 years to get a good league history with almost all regen players.

Ramzavail 11-20-2007 10:24 AM

simming 15 years, must take a few calendar days on vacation?

MrBug708 11-20-2007 10:26 AM

Yes. Usually would take about 24 hours plus or so? Just start the game and go on holiday for an unspecified amount of time

If you ask me personally I think my 2014 squad would go down in history as my greatest squad ever. You had the Brazilian tandem of Lucas and Arouca in their late-20's at the peak of their abilities manning my midfield, as well as Andres Guardado, my wonderkid-striker Leandro Rinaldi fresh off a 36 goal season in his rookie campaign (in 2024 he would score an amazing 46 goals in 49 appearances)

DaddyTorgo 11-20-2007 07:49 PM

and now I have this disc in I want to hang out with these guys again!!!

they're underachieving this year (only 4th in Serie A).

Rinaldi is winding down an amazing career (he's 34 and I've got a fresh crop of new amazing youngsters coming into the first team.. I've also got a couple defenders in their early 30's who I need to start phasing out.)

DaddyTorgo 11-20-2007 07:56 PM

although inflation is slightly crazy at this point. I have no starters worth less than 22 million. And I have a 90 million dollar defender, a 78 million dollar midfielder, a 60 million dollar midfielder, and 2 55 million dollar strikers.

If the past is any indication, this means that the patch for the WWSM download version will be available sometime in January.

The post said it was supposed to be all platforms at once, but as a WWSM owner I'm not poppin' a boner just yet.....

85%, almost there:)

Just finished, took about 15 minutes. Not bad for SI, plus WSM released at the same time as FM to boot.

I'm in Toledo this weekend, but when I get back or if I get insomnia, I'm going to hit this thing to see if it really did fix the keeper bugs.

I installed the patch and started a new game, since then my team's results have been 6-0, 2-0, 3-0, 2-0, 2-0, 1-0 and 0-0 (played 70 minutes with 10 men). So at least my keeper seems to be liking the patch.

Edit - Followed by a 2-1 win when the opponent scored a consolation goal in the last minute. Boooo.

Izulde 11-25-2007 06:54 AM

Yep, the keeper problem is fixed!!!!!! :)

Ran a few tests and things were vastly improved.

Started a dynasty with Thurrock after testing, let my new AM take care of the friendlies, then took control once conference play started.

Just upset Lewes 2-0 in an away game to start the real season. :D

grim 11-25-2007 10:09 AM

I've been playing CM/FM since 97/98, and have bought every version since then except for CM4 and the new one. I have a pretty fun career going with 07, been playing the same save for over six months. But it is starting to slow down quite a bit (picked too many leagues), so it is about time to start up a new game.

So my question is : How is the MLS now? Has anyone been playing with MLS post patch? Managing in MLS is the main reason I'd buy 08. The things that are most important to me are the draft pool quality and types of players that MLS teams are able to get to fill the designated player spots.

highfiveoh 11-25-2007 10:44 AM

I don't think MLS will ever be too playable in FM. Here's a thread that will keep you up to date with the latest inadequecies -- http://community.sigames.com/eve/for...3?r=5942076363

DaddyTorgo 11-25-2007 11:08 AM

2010 - Won the Scudetto with Juventus (maintaining a 1pt lead over Inter with a 5 game win streak to end the season), and the UEFA Champions League (beating AC Milan 1-0 at Wembley for the win. Milan also came in 3rd in Serie A btw)

Now I have Ivory Coast through the Group Stage of the WC and I've been drawn against Senegal in the next round. Drogba is an absolute beast...he's scored 7 goals in the group stage - including 4 in a 4-1 drubbing of Sweden

TroyF 11-25-2007 11:09 AM

Ordered a new PC this week. Probably won't get here until sometime the week of December 5. I think I'll concentrate on Mass Effect and some reviews until then. I was becoming dominant in my Arsenal dynasty. (Silva is a GOD by the way)

Cringer 11-25-2007 11:19 AM

We should try to get the MLS to change it's ways so it can come to some kind of middle ground with WSM.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't looked in the bugs forum over there.

I understand why MLS isn't a big priority for SI, but hopefully they can make it playable next year. I guess I can start a new game with 07.
