In the spirit of Thanksgiving and being thankful in this regard for not spending money on this POS here are some links for people who ate too much turkey and can not move and yet want to be entertained.

I don't have Thanksgiving here this week, but excellent.

Buccaneer 11-20-2007 09:58 PM

I just don't understand.

Toddzilla 11-21-2007 07:16 AM

To paraphrase Sir Fozzie:

This game is made of awful and fail.

Cringer 11-21-2007 09:24 AM

Two things I loved from those links. You can customize how 'bouncy' the ball is, which totally makes up for players standingaround after the ball is snapped, IMO. Next, I love how one guy said he may buy several copies of version 3, so he can give some as gifts. Oh how lucky that mans family is!

Could be a brilliant strategy, if the gifts are involved in a "gift stealing" game. Once opened, no one is going to take MF away from those people, thus eliminating them from the pool of potential gift stealers.

:D

Ajaxab 11-21-2007 10:18 AM

My favorite link is the one to the dirty uniforms. I love how you can customize the way one team gets mud on the jerseys while the other one can have uniforms impervious to dirt. What an awesome feature!

So, is version 3 going to be 1.6 or 2.0?

Passacaglia 11-21-2007 10:31 AM

I love how the "field" is muddy, but the endzones are completely green.

Passacaglia 11-21-2007 10:35 AM

I'm not even sure if I still use the value from the database anymore.

I believe changing it to 5 would result in many bad things happening. It's not something I've tried. In most situations, it would probably just default to 4 downs. But I think the odds are high that the game would crash at some point.. or at the very least, do very bad things

Hi.

Yes a few of the minor graphical features that could be found in older versions were left out of the new version because the techniques to accomplish them are very different now. The field and its graphics are loaded in a very different manor now and mud was not done in time. I may see if I can find the time to add that into a future update but at the moment only snow changes the look of the field.

thanks
David

hahahahahahahahaha

cartman 11-21-2007 10:43 AM

I guess he loads the graphics at stately Wayne Manor.

larrymcg421 11-21-2007 11:11 AM

Elasticity is awesome. Imagine how punts would land with maximum elasticity. Now if only I could increase the number of downs to 10 and the gameplay made any kind of sense, I might get this game!

I would also like to make it so that if the ball bounces just one time, a pass can still be a completion or interception.

QuikSand 11-21-2007 11:57 AM

I'm really not the ha><><0rZ type, but I really want to own this game without, you know, buying it.

What ever happened to the copy digamma bought off of eBay?

Surtt 11-21-2007 01:36 PM

Wow! how did we miss this!

From Wikipedia

Quote:

There is one easter egg to be found in Maximum-Football. Select a player from a teams offensive starting line up and enter the player edit screen. There set the Jersey Name field to read G. LARSON This will cause all players on that teams starting offense to be rendered with cartoon like cow heads.

Is it really an easter egg if it also happens spontaneously? I hear if you set the jersey name field to P. Tudors all of the players turn into nude Kathy Griffins that mud-wrestle on the grass field that is supposed to be muddy.

That might be the same one.

I've got inside info that this scenario will never be allowed to happen.

I can already tell this is going to supply many hours of enjoyment. I just got through the first link to find out why you can't hand a ball off to a WR...

"The defense would also need the ability to Line Up On: and Key: the WR in order to combat reverses and end around plays. "

Is it just me, or shouldn't the defense going after the ball be enough to combat a reverse? If every defensive back is keying on a different receiver...wouldn't they all go after a ball carrier anyway?

Sounds like a great way to defend the reverse to me!

No...I would lose a tenth of my posts. Besides, I believe Skydog prevented this from happening.

Thats funny...I read the same one and was thinking the exact same thing.

I guess it would take a complete rewrite to get the defenders to "chase the guy with the ball".

RedKingGold 11-21-2007 08:21 PM

I think there was once a time where some doubted this thread would surpass 50 pages.

THE TACKLING IS AMAZING!! CAN I GET THAT GAME PLEEEZZ?

cartman 12-07-2007 04:26 PM

Next thing you know, they are gonna brush off all of those comments as all being posted by FOFCers.

:D

Toddzilla 12-07-2007 04:29 PM

HAW HAW - I like that a good percentage of users don't believe the game is real. If only it were true...

JPhillips 12-07-2007 05:04 PM

QBs sure get sacked a lot in that game.

MikeVic 12-07-2007 05:34 PM

Haha! This comment is so true:
"the animation doesn't feels right compared to the speed they're running:P"

And there's one tackle where they both look like they're just falling down.

Coffee Warlord 12-07-2007 05:42 PM

Best quote.

"Is this for the PS1?"

st.cronin 12-07-2007 05:45 PM

I like the play where the running back assumes a blocking pose, with no defender anywhere near him.

cartman 12-07-2007 05:53 PM

I wonder if the framerate in the video has an impact on the plays. I'm gonna try playing the video on a faster machine, and maybe the play in the snow will result in a rouge.

Antmeister 12-07-2007 06:09 PM

One of my favorite quotes is this:

Some Operation Sports folks seem interested in getting some Maximum Football Action!

darkenigma510 12-12-2007 01:59 PM

If they were smart, they would price this at 19.99 and I bet they would get a lot more sales, even from people who just beleive in helping out independent developers.

Anthony 12-12-2007 04:00 PM

how many times have i said that? it's not the game that's wrong (well, partly), it's the price. at the price it goes for people have higher expectations. for $19.99 i might consider buying it.

i said consider.
